Overall an interesting experience. The wine was alright. The proprietor was veteran, trying to make a living.
Uniquely creepy...a night at the Bates Motel would have been better...
Our friends took us there. They had been there before COVID and the place was packed! We thought it was unique that it was a horse sanctuary so we thought let's give it a Whirl.
Creepy old guy meets us, leads us into the tasting room. Throws menus on the tables and doesn't really explain anything. We proceed to pick wines. If he was out of it he made no apologies and grumpily said, 'Don't have it'. kind of like it was our fault!
As we chatted between us he stood there listening to our conversations. Creepy!
We finally finished and as my husband was paying we started looking at all the paintings on the wall. He started telling us about them, then the two US flags in cases. THEN proceeds to tell us the story of a distant uncle who served in the war, came back, became a bootlegger with connections to Dillinger. Uncle has a breakdown, takes his family out in the field, attempts to shoot them before turning the weapon on himself!
We could get out of there fast enough. As we walked out, three women were walking in and they asked us how it was....we said...RUN!
They followed us down the driveway!
OH ... And no more horses ... the neighborhood 'Karen' complained(his story).
“The bananas winery”, but not in a bad way. Unforgettable and unmatched experience. The wines were unique and flavorful. The owners/hosts were almost as quirky and charming as the venue. Thought I heard banjo music in the distance, but it must have been my imagination as we made it out unscathed. We’ll definitely be back, if only for the insanity, the next time we’re in the area.
Only real downside is that the restroom was disgusting.
Would give 0 stars if we could.
What is this place? How are they still open and the Health Department has not shut them down. Should have known when we pulled up and no one was there. Chairs had dust covering them and it’s decorated with so many old items, we knew instantly when we walked in we should have turned around and walked out. The wine was so thick and so fermented it almost tasted like vinegar. Thank god the table had a dump jar on a table. I would never order food from there! We could not get out of there fast enough. Do not go!!!
Really crappy that the website ways open. What a waste of gas. Drive over an hour to try the wine. However when we arrived they weren't open.
Nasty and Dirty - Horrible all the tables walked out along with us. I would consider calling the Health Department i would guarantee that all the wine was open for more than a year.
I can’t believe a place like this is allowed to actually serve the public.
If I could give 0 or negative stars I would. This place does not deserve a single star.
I’ve NEVER been so uncomfortable; scared, and disrespected.
We were in town for a cute bachelorette party for my best friend! Google said they were open but we got there… closed! Fine! No worries. However, we called just to double check. A man answered and said he would be down to open up… ok…
He was rude from the start… RUDE!!!! Like I get mad just typing this! He said “clearly you’re not from around here…” okay… then no light, no music, no people… just us and this creepy man. Which we truly gave him the benefit of the doubt.
He said what are you celebrating? We said a bachelorette party! She is getting married. He said well some people make mistakes… okay rude but maybe his humor? Idk! Still doing our best to make the most of this uncomfortable and awkward situation…
We are now alone… the three of us… in a back room with this man who doesn’t want us here… which then don’t open? That would have been better!
He then tells us about his tasting and the bride asked a valid question about what’s included and he goes “so this is where I get rude… (get?!) listening skills is important… it’s on the menu and everything on the menu is included…” his tone is awful… just a bad bad bad experience…
We decided to leave before ordering… he doesn’t deserve our money…
How anyone stayed long enough to order is beyond me…
He should not be in business… this is not a business… how he has a liquor license is actually scary.
Please RUN!!! Don’t go here!!!! It was awful!!!
Shout out to the place we went to after… Perlick distillery! They are a 5+ star place!
Skip this Clover Meadow… don’t make our same mistake!
Old man running this place was blatantly rude and we left before ordering. Nasty guy, felt incredibly uncomfortable around him.
Creepy Gandalf wizard of winery was inappropriate and poked my shoulder. He accused another guest of stealing a bottle (she didn’t)
Had a very nice visit with the owner. A little out of the way, but worth the stop.

The man who served us was rude, impatient, insulting & discourteous to myself & my daughter & friend. Then the products he served were all awful & amateurish tasting. The building is sketchy, poorly maintained & decorated with low quality, garage sale items. I even questioned our safety alone with him & we couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Was looking for a winery to visit. I appreciate these pop up family owned wineries. Truly a very unique place. We took the motorcycle and it was only 1/2 mile of a gravel road so not bad if you are on the bike. The owners were nice. I really enjoyed the guys dry quick wit humor and his wife was so nice. Both were very informative and well versed in their products. The wine was good, the cordials, brandy and moonshine were good. Do not expect a commercialized what you find at the store product... this is a great farm to table product. I guarantee the moonshine is way more potent than any place you've ever been to due it being a family owned business. I love even more that they support and donate back to a horse rescue.
I think this winery is now closed. We stopped on a Friday in June and there was no one there. It looked run down.
Ask about the paintings. Lots of neat stories. So many yummy flavors
Different and interesting
