Last night was my grandmother’s 86th birthday, and for two years she’s talked about wanting to take me to Cloud Red. We finally made it happen (that was my fault for having been in graduate school for
The past two years), even though it’s about a 40-minute drive in traffic. When we arrived, we found a table easily enough and ordered the cauliflower (which was amazing), her curry tacos (delicious), and my steak sandwich (which was fine). Up until then, everything was great.

Unfortunately, what happened at the end completely ruined the evening. While I was waiting in line to pay, a family approached me and asked if we were done with our table. I told them politely that we’d be finishing up in about 5–10 minutes. When I turned around moments later, my 84-year-old grandmother was standing beside our table holding both of our jackets and her purse—which she had dropped—while that same family was already sitting down. They had the staff wiping the table and bringing extra chairs, and my belongings had been moved.

My grandmother was left standing, waiting for me to finish paying on her birthday. I didn’t even get a chance to thank her properly for our evening out. It was shocking and uncomfortable to watch another group essentially evict us from our table before we had even left.

While I don’t place full blame on the staff, this “first come, first served” policy has clearly created an environment where basic decency and respect get lost. What should have been a special night became stressful and upsetting.

I won’t be recommending Cloud Red or returning. The food was good—but no meal is worth that kind of experience.

Our new favorite restaurant! Lots of variety, hearty portions and unique flavors all with the vibe of a local upscale pub. Perfect for a casual date night. The only qualms I have about this place is they could use some indoor seating, but we still really enjoy their patio.

We were here Sat nite which was lively bar and with roomy seating area, including some tucked-off sections, perfect for groups or a casual night out. We enjoyed their selection of beers on tap and creative cocktails, which complemented our food perfectly.

We ordered the buffalo cauliflower, nachos with pulled pork on the side, a burrito-sized veggie wrap, and the baba ganoush with hummus—it was all delicious! The Brussel sprouts are also a speciality but are very heavy. Service is waitress-only after you place your order (just put your number on the table), and you serve your own water while drinks can be picked up from the bar. It was such a lovely time and a spot we’ll definitely return to. Enjoy!

Food and drinks are great, but at peak hours this place is extremely reverberant and around 90 dB, impossible to hold a conversation, just deafeningly loud. Get some sound treatment!

It’s honestly so stressful to come here but that maybe makes the food experience even better?? I’m so HECKIN obsessed with everything I’ve had here. It’s hard to choose what to order even. What we normally do is send someone to pick it up and whoever orders and picks up also gets to order a drink at the bar then bring it home to enjoy! The portions are huge so one meal usually lasts me two meals. Bonus.

Food service and atmosphere all good. Outside area could be developed a little better with more comfortable tables. Inside was ac but way too loud. Dishes were interesting and unique but not amazing.

A favorite spot in Shorewood. Their drinks are great and the food is delicious. (Their Reuben sandwich that only comes around once a year is the best I’ve ever had. Wish they’d do that more often!). It can get crowded pretty quick, so I’d get there early if you’re able.

I am visiting a friend in Milwaukee and he took me his favorite hang out and I was blown away. I’ve been in the restaurant business for over thirty years and I completely impressed how Amber and Brin took care of a full house. They rock!!

Oh the food. Unbelievable! Had a fresh peach flat bread and a steak sandwich. Wow! Probably the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had.

This place is amazing!!

Very good value. Had no idea the portions would be so generous. We are not vegetarians but ended up with all vegetarian dishes and loved them all.
