Good bands, great staff, ample parking day or night, people shouting howdy neighbors! Big field behind the establishment that they use for activities, pool table, outdoor biffys available besides indoor facilities obviously, closed off smoking area with lights, TV, and heating for the winter months..
Parking: Tons of parking available, but during events it get get pretty tight but they make accommodations when needed.
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly within reason haha. Obviously it's still a tavern but with all the events going on year round there's kids around during certain hours in or around the establishment.

I score this place a 5 overall because the ownership seems to genuinely care about the customers and will go beyond the normal to ensure customers are as taken care of as possible. The Checkerboard offers some bar fried classics, burgers, pizza and more. Darts and pool, banquet like gathering areas, heated smoking in the winter, horseshoes, snowmobile trails, and out in the rural area of Douglas county means not much fun you can't have here. Classic gatherings scattered throughout the year, friendly enough locals, and the staff can be great.

They know how to have a good time here, the drinks and beer flow right along with the cheer. They have some burgers and pizzas I think, but really it's all about the drink. Bartenders are nice enough to call your friend, a couple of pool tables and some darts keep yah busy through the days end. Horseshoes and pool and dart leagues are never in the way, but the owner will be happy to sponsor your team if you are looking for leagues to play.

Fun place to stop on the way out of town. Good pool tables and beers are cold. Always have events or cookouts which are super nice. Local bar and friendly people.

#1 bar to visit in the area and probably the state, too. 100% love and recommend it. Great people and atmosphere.
