Says it opens at 4:30, but not really. No one there but had no availability for 2.

Our dining experiences last weekend were superb. Every meal exceeded expectations for quality, originality, and presentation. Caden, our server, was fantastic. Right mix of personableness and professionalism. Looking forward to our next two trips this summer.

Food here is great, however, I’m completely shocked at the two rude calls I just experienced. I usually like going here but called ahead to ask a question about options and was told “I’m too busy for this” and was hung up on. I called back to ask to speak to a manager and was told too busy and I said “you were very rude to me and just hung up on me” to which I received a “then no I won’t take a phone number to call back and was hung up on again”. That’s not acceptable.I’ve been a server for 15+ years and have worked busy days- it takes no extra effort to not be rude and to not hang up on someone. On my busiest days and when faced with the rudest calls I never have hung up on someone when they were mid sentence. Especially if they were asking a genuine question. The correct response should have been “no I’m sorry we can’t do that, do you need anything else? No? Okay have a nice day” … in case you were wondering.

Saw great reviews for 400 Springs, and thought it would convenient since we were staying at the House on the Rock Resort. Looks like positive reviews are mainly for breakfast - dinner was not as good an experience. There was limited wait staff so waited a long time for service. Food was overcooked and overpriced. Better restaurants at similar price points or less available in town!

This place is great. The best part is that it wasn't busy! I'm not sure why, because the food was great. It's got some old supper club vibes going on but with the menu of a modern high end restaurant in the city. And you get the view of the golf course. Would (and will) recommend to friends.

Great food, awesome view, waitress was on top of everything yet wasn't a bother in the slightest, other staff seemed competent and friendly as well.Parking: Nearest lot was packed but could have walked a bit.

400 Springs Restaurant is absolutely fantastic! Dawn and Drew came up with a custom breakfast buffet menu for my wedding brunch that included french toast with a giant bowl of fresh whipped cream and berries, the best bacon I have ever had, sausage links, scrambled eggs, yogurt and granola, and their special autumn hash (pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash with apple cider reduction which was HEAVENLY!). The food was even better than I imagined, and Dawn went above and beyond on the day to make sure everything was perfect. We also ate dinner there a couple of times and everything we ordered was delicious. Wish I lived in Spring Green WI to eat there all the time!

The good points are: a) My wife liked the ambiance. I did not like the table and did not like the fact that other couples who came after us got window seating. b) They kept to the reservation time. c) The menu was excellent and had a lot of unusual dishes. d) The food was very good. My wife had the salmon, which was just basic salmon and she said it was cold. The bread served with dinner and appetizers were very good. I had the Swedish meatballs for dinner, which I really enjoyed. My wife thought that the chocolate mousse dessert by itself was worth the trip. If this is all you care about, stop right here. The bad points are: The liquor menu is extremely limited. Budweiser products and wine from a local winery mostly. No Jameson's, as an example. When I inquired I was scolded for asking and the server explained that they had a very small bar and were doing their best. That was generally the tone. Shut up and eat and don't complain. I would note that the liquor that was available, distasteful as it was, arrived quickly upon ordering. On further inquiry I learned that their liquor comes from the full service bar owned by the golf course downstairs. Consider stopping there for a drink first. I was glad to leave. This was the same attitude that this group had when it did breakfasts at the Round Barn. Wisconsin is the land of welcoming bars and restaurants, but not this place.

I just cannot say enough good things about 400 Springs. The service and food are just the best. Not to mention the view. I am from Madison and cannot think of any place that beats these things. Just cannot praise this place enough.

Delightful host, chef and presentation. The food was amazing. We realized staffing is difficult in this small town but the staff was never slacking and tried to serve as fast as they could. Chicken with cherries and Pork shoulder with plantains were favorites at our table.

The service was great but a little slow due to staffing - she just had a lot of tables so leave extra time when you come in for dinner. We had 6 people in our party and every dish was amazing. I can't wait to go back.

400 Springs has limited serving hours, but we were there over a weekend so it was open for both breakfast and dinner. I found it a little odd that reservations were required, as the resort was not busy, but that may have had to do with staffing. The prices were a little high (for our tastes) but since we decided to share appetizers, it was reasonable for dinner. The stuffed mushrooms were wonderful - stuffed with cream cheese and sausage that is made in-house. And the crab cakes were also very good - almost all crab meat (as opposed to some others I've had that was mostly filler). Staff was friendly and attentive.
