This place was amazing. You walk through at your own pace. Some spots we crowded but not bad. Beautiful designs and reading the full story explained in the beginning is great.

A Wonderful, Accessible Experience for the Whole Family

Our family had an amazing time at The House on the Rock! I was especially happy to see how much fun my two special needs kids (9 and 21) had—there was so much to see, and they were completely engaged the whole time. The accessibility was also a big plus. My daughter has difficulty with stairs, so I really appreciated that there were ramps available to make things easier for her.

My wife had an absolute blast. She hasn’t been quite the same since her car accident, but this place brought a real smile to her face. She was amazed by everything—the music machines, the Infinity Room, and all the wild and wonderful collections. It was a joy to see her so happy.

If you love unique, over-the-top experiences, The House on the Rock is a must-visit. It’s like stepping into another world, and it’s something our whole family will remember for a long time!

all of the exhibits were very cool and interesting but who the hell designed it in the way that the food court is the last stop until where you need to get rid of your drinks. Especially when I’m paying 4.50 for a 12 ounce Coke that I get to take three sips of, then have to throw away at the very next trashcan I see. I can understand why you need to get rid of your drinks at that point but in that case, just put the food court somewhere else, Or for $4.50 put the damn Coke in a bottle instead of a cup. 1 star, ONLY because of stupid designing, which is ironic considering design IS the whole attraction.

The staff was very nice and answered all of our questions, so my dislike was not from the friendly staff.

I generally just did not enjoy house on the rock, we left with a puzzling thought of wtf did we just do? From the confusion around why it was built and where the money came from, to the bizarre collection of random items that just felt like junk. If you're very artsy perhaps you will enjoy walking through the house. But if you aren't extremely artsy, it's a collection of random junk, self playing instruments you put tokens into and a house built on a rock. For the $80 admission for two people and the tokens, it just is not worth it to me. I wish we had gone to the state park instead.

Not their fault but not ours either. The electricity is off, and they yelled at people saying there’s no way for refund. Omegle skill, but it’s a service place.

Very disappointed and feel insulted and uncomfortable.

Just saying be cautious before signing up for the underground endless tour if you're not into sensory overload, endless crowded dark spaces, once you begin youre locked in for the very long journey can be unpleasant for some.

HotR during the Christmas season is one of my family’s favorite excursions during the winter time and quickly becoming a yearly tradition.

That said, I was very disappointed with the experience today 13 Dec 2024. As we walked into the whale room and prepared to ascend the ramp, an employee literally screamed in my face “THE RAMP IS CLOSING AT 2PM!” It was barely 1:50pm, my family and myself are able bodied and were able to be out of the whale room by 1:58pm lest we be screamed at again.

Three stars for the experience, which would have been five if not for the incredibly unprofessional employee mentioned above.

Went today to see the final days of the Christmas experience. Sadly, not the way I remembered it from past visits. I remember the Santas being an "addition" to the other exhibits...not REPLACING the dollhouse collection, the smaller carousel, and/or the circus room. Also, many (if not MOST) of the Santas are cheap dollar store Santas and definitely not the collectible ones I expected. Food court has minimal choices and quite expensive (couldn't even get a glass of water---had to purchase a bottled water). No handicap parking. Buildings are definitely showing wear and are not overly clean. Certainly not the eclectic collection I remember from years gone by.

The first time we went here was in 1996 and it was amazing. Everything was immaculate! We went again about ten years later and it was still in good shape. Well we went again yesterday and had a bit of a different experience. Throughout the years this place seems to be slowly falling apart. In many of the display cases there were dead flies and Asian ladybug carcasses especially in the ship displays in the room with the large whale. I can't tell you how many times when walking around water dripped on me from the above ceiling that was leaking because it was raining. We saw buckets catching water at random places throughout the tour. There were literal puddles of water in a few places as well inside!!!! And the displays need a dusting and shining up! I see the place going downhill since 1996 and it should not be happening. Honestly they need to close down for more than 2 months and do an overhaul on the place and then reopen it. I've seen so many reviews of how the place smells in summer of mold and how people's allergies were affected that some people had to actually leave the buildings. This absolutely should be taken care of and cleaned up! If water is dripping there has to be mold in the carpeting. PLEASE take care of this so many more people can enjoy this amazing collection without getting ill or just plain disgusted.

Not toddler friendly, some of the staff are rude, especially the young gentlemen who followed me as I went backwards in the house, excuse me but I just paid 80.00 dollars, I'll walk all the way back to the beginning if I need to, don't follow me around go get a life or find a new job. The entrance price is plenty steep, take some of the money and fix up the house. The token machines are cool. There's lots to read and look at. If you were to look at every single item and read everything there is to read, you would be here I suppose a couple days. All in all its a really neat place, but staff needs to check their attitude at the door. Not everyone from the staff was rude but there were those select few who ruin it for everyone.

Amazing discovery I found on social media and it was my birthday I drove 2.5hrs away but I didn’t know what to expect so upon arrival we was told we couldn’t see the who experience which I was confused so when I got there the lady explained and I was still interested I even got in free for my birthday … when I say I wasn’t disappointed it was amazing so I will go back early of course to see what I missed thank you to the staff and the wise older guys who kept us laughing ( highly recommend for a family hangout)

What a cool place! Plan to spend all day to really see everything & wear comfortable shoes. There is so much to see; architecture, gardens, scenic views, historical objects and so so so much more! It felt like we stepped into several other dimensions, we lost track of time & there were several rooms we stepped into that took our breath away. I can't wait to go back!

I've been coming here since I was young and it gets 5 stars for how interesting and eclectic it is! Now that I am much much older, I realize the toll it takes to do the walking and ramping. No wheelchairs allowed in the main housing (lots of stairs & tight maneuvering) but nostalgia abounds everywhere you look!
A real must visit and return.

Very unique place. Definitely recommend visiting and making sure you have at least 3 hours if not more. I was in awe the whole entire time.

This is my 5th time coming here. Love coming here. Even though I know what to expect coming here it never bores me. Each room is humongous. Each room is unique. But I must say usually I get great people behind the food section when I get a hot dog or pizza. This last experience was not so great. The older lady ( not sure if she owns the food court area or not....more like a manager wannabe) was a real rude. I mean like rude. No good morning, no how are you, no anything except with a cold "what do u need ?"Not even acknowledging. I contained myself from giving her one back. I didn't want to ruin my experience or my families. And she still had the audacity to have a tip jar right in front of the register. Still giving her a chance I went to go get two more slices for my family. When I got them I said" thank you" and all she said was " u huh". Not even a frickin thank u. Whatever is going on with her life shouldn't be brought here to this establishment. Leave your problems at home lady or at least contain your attitude. Other than Ms.Crankyz, it's always great to come here
