Been going here for years. Great staff ice cold beer tasty food. Try the Jessy sandwich. 6-17 25 $8
Fish fry was really good, but hash browns weren't quite done. Good atmosphere, but they squeeze too many tables in the back room, making it uncomfortable to get in and out of your seat. Customers were very gracious in making room for us to maneuver into our seats.
Their food is excellent!!
5 Stars – Where the Drummies Are Hot, the Vibes Are Cool, and the Bar Actually Is Friendly
I wasn’t planning on stopping in Star Prairie, Wisconsin. I didn’t even know I was going to be in Star Prairie, Wisconsin. But sometimes, fate (and a slightly overconfident GPS) leads you off the beaten path and straight into a gem.
Coming back from Amery, heading toward New Richmond, my stomach started giving me ultimatums: either pull over and feed me, or deal with the consequences. So I listened. And like a divine roadside miracle, Friendly Bar Inc appeared before me like a beacon of battered glory.
First Impressions?
The name doesn’t lie. You walk in, and boom! You’re greeted by warm rustic charm, smiling locals, and that kind of small-town bar vibe that says, “Hey, stranger. Pull up a stool. You’re welcome here.” Everyone was vibing at the bar, chatting it up, like something out of a cozy Midwest sitcom. I took a seat at the far end to soak it all in.
Service?
The bartender had that perfect balance of quick, friendly, and efficient. She dropped a drink in front of me and slid over a menu like a seasoned card dealer at a poker table. I appreciated the no-fuss approach, zero pressure, all chill.
The Food:
Now, let’s talk about the Wednesday Special: Drummies with Fries & Coleslaw.
Was I tempted by the tacos? Absolutely. They almost had me. But when something’s the special, you respect the house. And let me just say, drumsticks only is a concept I didn’t know I needed. No flats to argue over, no chicken wing politics. Just golden, crispy, fried happiness.
Each piece was plump and juicy, wrapped in a perfectly seasoned batter that held up without being greasy. Like if bar food and comfort food had a beautiful crunchy baby. The fries? Oh baby. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, just salty enough to make you sip your drink but not feel like you licked a pretzel. Textbook fry execution.
As for the coleslaw... listen, I’m not a coleslaw guy. I’ll own that. I didn’t try it, but I didn’t hold that against them either. I’m sure it was lovely, just not my cabbage jam.
The Atmosphere:
Peaceful. Relaxed. No chaos, no blasting music, no servers trying to juggle flaming trays of food like circus acts. Just locals sharing stories, laughter echoing off the wooden walls, and me, soaking it all in with a satisfied stomach and a small grin. I didn’t need to talk to anyone to feel the community. It was just there. Like a little pocket of realness in the middle of a mapped-out detour.
The Verdict?
This place isn’t trying to be flashy or trendy. It doesn’t need neon signs or Instagrammable cocktails in mason jars with dehydrated oranges. What it offers is simple: good food, good folks, and a damn fine reason to stop in a town you didn’t plan on visiting.
Final Breakdown:
Drummie Delight Factor: 10/10 – All meat, no flat debates.
Fry Consistency Score: Crunchy on the outside, potato cloud inside. Gold medal.
Coleslaw Level: N/A (but no beef, just cabbage)
Atmosphere Vibes: Cozy tavern meets local cheers episode
Service Swagger: Fast, friendly, and exactly what you hope for
Overall Rating: 5 Stars. Would detour again. No GPS required.
The food was really good. My father enjoyed the deep fried mushrooms. All 8 of us finished our plates. Our service was great, too.

My favorite spot to get some good breakfast and amazing homemade soups. As well as amazing salads. Just ordered a salad and it was delicious! Thank you guys for always make me some good food. I have health problems and I don't eat much but I always order your potato bacon soup when I'm not feeling the best and it helps! I'll never stop coming to you for delicious home cooked type meals. I'm sick of mc Donald's and tacobell. And sometimes don't like to cook lol this place is like having a home cooked meal!

Many full barstools this Monday as folks enjoy lunch here. Their two tasty sounding specials made it hard for me to choose…
The bartender is friendly just as you might expect and the girl in the kitchen works quickly.
$27.50 for two baskets and a pint of Coors Light. I found the “Mare Bear” to be juicy and tasty.
Amazing!!! Great food and service! Yummy soups too!!!!

We usually come for drinks before Cedar Lake racing but decided to drive over for breakfast. Their Bloody Mary’s and eggs Benedict were amazing! Staff is always friendly and very welcoming too. Definitely our favorite bar.
