I will definitely come back!! Great food and beautiful location with excellent service
Visited on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was fairly empty. Decor is very nice, seems very upscale.
We shared a lobster bisque with the soft shell crab. It was great.
Our two entrees were good.
The Maple salmon had really good flavor, really crispy on the outside but I sure wouldn't want the interior cooked any further. The few asparagus were a tad overcooked, and I would've loved to have a bit more of the puree.
The ribeye was seasoned properly and cooked to a proper medium rare. Mashed potatoes were tasty.
For dessert the creme brulee was meh. The custard was way too dense and despite being bruleed properly was still quite cold.
The service was fine. Our server brought bread before the soup which made a great pairing. But the table next to ours that had just finished eating the same soup hadn't received bread, and when they saw ours and asked their server they were told they had to ask for bread?
If you eat with your eyes, this place is great. The setting and decor could really fool you into thinking it was wonderful. But for the price in this area, it is not delivering a reasonable value.

First let me say Brenda is an EXCELLANT hostess, she is the face of the restaurant. Dacia (sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly) she new her stuff as well. The food was phenominal. The filet was melt,in your mouth, tender, the New York strip cooked to perfection, the scallops were the best we have ever had,the two pasta dishes were delish!! The drinks were on point. The bar staff also need a round of applause too (Hubert was a good sport). Thanks to all of you for making our dining experience a fun and memorable one. See you next year!!

It's a beautiful spot to have poor meal and enormous bill. You can order the lobster mac anywhere else around the area and get triple the amount of lobster. I was left searching for my lobster, which is insane considering the price. The lady also was telling us that their recipe was unique and they used nutmeg and this and that. When the meal arrived, I didn't taste a single flavor that she mentioned, I wish she hadn't spoken in the first place because I would have enjoyed it had I not been searching for the flavor profile she described. That lady is a little irritating, and she only seems to remember the men and not the women who accompany them as far as I've noticed in my hand full of times gone. We've gotten poor NY Strip, the Tomahawk experience was a little underwhelming, don't bother with the lobster mac. The truffle fries are nothing like the truffle fries you get in the city, don't bother. I ordered these crispy ahi rice things for them to come on a wonton and nothing like the city. It's just gets really annoying to constantly feel screwed over in the end when you are searching for a spot that you can dress nicely and go out for a date.
Only 1 of 75 comments on the Minocqua Foodie Page recommended Bootleggers as a romantic spot to have a great meal, and I felt seen. No one wants to pay Chicago prices for a BOOTLEG experience. The name of the restaurant is represented phenomenally in my opinion.

🌟 5-Star Review: Bootleggers in Tomahawk, WI If you're looking for the perfect blend of Northwoods charm and upscale hospitality, look no further than **Bootleggers** in Tomahawk. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine sense of welcome that made our stay unforgettable. Brenda, the manager, is an absolute gem — the kind of leader who sets the tone for excellence. Her attention to detail, her kindness, and her ability to make every guest feel like family is unmatched. The staff she’s cultivated reflects that same energy: attentive, gracious, and always a step ahead. The property itself is stunning — a high-end retreat tucked into the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods. Whether you're sipping craft cocktails by the fire, enjoying a gourmet meal, or simply soaking in the serene surroundings, Bootleggers delivers a level of luxury that’s rare in this region. Every corner of this place feels thoughtfully curated, from the rustic-modern decor to the elevated service. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind, celebrate, and feel truly taken care of. Bootleggers isn’t just a destination — it’s an experience. Brenda and her team have created something truly special, and we can’t wait to return.
The staff was very very accommodating
Amazing up north atmosphere, and the most stunning view of Lake Nokomis. Had a perfectly cooked Ribeye, really tasty pasta alla vodka, and the wedge salad was excellent. Bartender was also super knowledgeable about their wine selection and made great recommendations. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Will come back over and over again!!

Enjoyed cocktails at the bar and dinner, didn't enjoy the drunk party on the deck.
We just tried Bootlegger’s for the first time and were nervous after reading some of the reviews. However, I’m glad we decided to try for ourselves and happy to report our experience was the polar opposite of many of the reviews. We had a reservation for two at 4pm, which was the first seating for dinner. We were seated right away, had a friendly and attentive waitress throughout, and our meals were both excellent. The Tomahawk Chop was incredible - we will both be back just for that - and my husband loved his prime rib, which was tender and flavorful. Thank you for a wonderful date night - we will be back!
I wish I could give it -9 it was so bad they forgot our drinks gave us like no food and it took fooooooooever
Six in our party and no one happy. One served with cold vegetables. Took it back and still cold when returned. One served with cold baked potato. One had chicken Marsala and no taste whatsoever. Server never offered bread until we asked. Will never go back. Manager stopped by and offered free desserts to appease us. That was an insult.
It's such a great place. Perfect service and outstanding food.
