We recently stayed at Hotel Fortney while attending a show at the Historic Temple Theater. I can't say enough good things about this beautifully renovated hotel. Everything about our stay was outstanding. Friendly staff, cool lounge/bar, 3rd-floor kitchen with refrigerator for leftovers + games + superior morning coffee (rocket fuel!), clean rooms, water bottle filling station, etc. The frosting on the cake was when Brian called to inform me that I forgot my phone charger and he promptly mailed it out. Thank you for the great stay.Rooms: Spacious, beautiful, very clean, attention to detailNearby activities: Veroqua has many shops worth checking out.Walkability: easy-peasy

Unbelievable spot! A inspiring location and story pieced together by a great family. Rooms are accommodating and rich in history. Hotel lounge, complete with a premier drink list is my happy place. This is a must see spot that has enhanced Viroqua, WI into a do everything, do anything weekend stay. One of the best spots in the Midwest!

Amazing stay at Hotel Fortney!! Owners and staff are SUPER friendly; location was great on the Main Street of Viroqua. The lounge was vibrant on Trivia Night, and next door are two superb dining establishments. (I think they serve food in the Lounge from the neighboring establishments, but I only hung out in the lounge after eating at the Driftless Cafe next door.). I cannot recommend Hotel Fortney highly enough—can’t wait to go back. Be sure to try out Wonderstate Coffee when there.Rooms: Bed was super comfy; room was spacious and well-appointed with original art work, large windows, and comfy chairs.Safety: Super safe—everyone in Viroqua is friendly, and I felt I knew everyone in town after 3 days of being there.Walkability: Easy walk to everything in Viroqua

2nd time staying at Hotel Fortney! We love it! We rented the room with the bunk beds and it was perfect for the kids as well as mom/dad. The room and atmosphere is absolutely perfect.

All staff excellent. This is a solid building with good noise abatement-no earplugs needed. Light blocking draw curtains work and are necessary for street lights. Large room. No in-window/room noisy air unit. No fridge racket. Nice kitchen above. All furnishings solid and comfy except a metal chair-odd. There is an accesible room. Our room did not have safety features in shower-grab bars, non-slip floors. This is NOT a period restored historic hotel. It is my understanding that the building was in very bad shape. The decor is neutral and nondescript. The location is convenient small downtown. There is no greenspace. Would definitely repeat in the off season though weekend rates are higher. The rates for in-season are high considering the lack of breakfast/snacks, exercise room, reading/conversation room, pool etc. typical of hotels. And this is not a major metropolis. And not a scenic location. That is the only critique of this excellent experience in this extremely well thought out and lovingly restored place. I read that a pet friendly room is considered. Don't. This makes it a pet friendly hotel. Owners vary and most have poor control and lack empathy for those who don't love their beloved fido who is not toilet trained, carries numerous diseases, and drives up our insurance rates with bite incidents. .

Brian was a life-saver when I had made a mistake with my reservation on NYE. He provided incredibly kind & friendly service. We reserved a deluxe king room. It was extremely spacious. The space was spotless & the heated bathroom floors were a very pleasant surprise bonus. We didn't get to spend much time in the shared spaces, lobbies or amenities.

Got dinner at the hotel, amazing food would definitely recommend. Service was amazing and we had the absolute nicest waiter. Only criticism is to get better water glasses. The current ones are plastic and flimsy, and the water jug could have ice put in it.

Absolutely love this hotel- the renovation is gorgeous with modern amenities and the staff were phenomenal! The complimentary Wonderstate coffee in the beautiful guest lounge was the perfect way to start my day. The hotel lounge/bar is exquisite with locally sourced foods from 2 of our favorite local restaurants including Driftless Cafe. Weekend getaways to Viroqua are one of our favorite pastimes and Hotel Fortney has elevated the draw for us. Hikes at Sidie Hollow, fall farmers market, numerous art galleries, a fabulous food Coop and the original Wonderstate coffee make Viroqua a fabulous foodie destination. Come experience the fabulous HF!Rooms: Luxurious comfort and elegance. Huge walk in shower.Nearby activities: Fall farmers market, Sidie Hollow and Norwegian culture in neighboring Westfield are some of our favorites.Safety: Key code entry made us feel safe and secure.Walkability: Right on Main Street perfectly situated for a stroll to the Coop, art galleries and many shops as well as Wonderstate Coffee.Food & drinks: Foodie heaven with tasty offerings served in the hotel lounge from the Noble Rind and Driftless Cafe.

Outstanding small, privately owned boutique hotel, newly renovated in Viroqua, WI. Established in the late 19th century, meticulously and lovingly restored. Comfortable, clean rooms with modern features. Newly restored hotel bar, and friendly management. Conveniently located adjacent to the regionally acclaimed Driftless Café restaurant. Smooth reservations, check in & check out. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful experience! Large rooms, heated bathroom floors, comfy beds and pillows, historic and eclectic vibe. Coming from Holmen, it was the perfect overnight trip to be able to go to the theater and be able to enjoy a relaxing night! They really have thought of everything!

We stayed here as a quick one night mom & daughter leaf peeping trip, and it was GREAT! Right in the heart of downtown Viroqua and walking distance to everything! We absolutely loved this place! The ecclectic feel of historic mixed with modern ammenities is fantastic! The owners seriously have not missed a detail, and the shared kitchen is incredible space to hang out for a coffee in the morning, play a game in the evening, or just peek out the window at the street. Planning another visit back next fall!

Night Manager Brad is 5 stars!! Thank you for everything. Bartender was a guy as well. Beautiful room cleaned daily. Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room and a clock/ charging station on the 2nd side of the bed. The renovation to the Hotel will be amazing when finished. Heated bathroom floor was a nice touch! Lovely place to stay!
