Difficult course, great shape. Little congested on weekends so expect to play a longer round. Overall, great course conveniently located in town off Hwy 10

To start, I'm going to leave my honest review on what I thought about Fox Fire/Par 4 Resort. See below my detailed review. The coarse was better than I thought it was going to be and all in all we had a good time and will go again, but it would be one of those courses that I'll golf only if there isn't anything else available and or has a great deal.

1) Tee boxes ehhh ok, were pretty rough and didn't have repair sand in the boxes. Par 3's were pretty difficult to find a good lie within the markers.
2) Fairways good, somewhat challenging and fun with different looks and a nice layout.
3) Greens good, not terribly difficult and we're in better shape than most.
4) Bunkers were excellent! (Not something I normally like to boast about) Sand was soft and very playable.
5) Price for the coarse was a little high, but it if you watch on apps you can normally find a deal.
6) Carts are older and arent in the best of shape. They were pretty chuggy, but got you to where you needed to go. They didn't have any repair sand containers on them to fix divots.
7) Cart girl was nice. Unfortunately there was only 1 out and didn't make it around much.
8) The bar had darn good food and the bartender was superb.
9) Everyone who encountered was super nice and accommodating. But, the crew seemed to be short staffed, scattered, and trying their best to be organized. They didn't have a bartender when the entire bar was full of people there for an outing. Bartender arrived to work and walked into a bad situation blindsided. Unfortunately, I think that the management may have some problems and the cause of this.
10) Overall appeal and conditions of the Resort wasn't bad and was nice. It seemed like a great place for a party/outing, wedding, and or bachelor/bachelorette party. Conditions of the surrounding buildings are showing some aging and could use a refresher.

A course I've played numerous times, but Friday's experience was the worst and last. Pace of play was extremely slow and the ranger made no effort to encourage the culpible group (3 open holes ahead of them) from either skipping a hole or two or three, or picking up pace. He was extremely rude to our group (2 threesomes) when we played on one of the par 3's all together, despite the fact there were 4 groups on the box when we were teeing off. Waiting over 30 minutes to take the next shot and over 5 hours for an 18 hole round is unacceptable.

It was a scorcher outside today- and the lady in the pro shop came around with ice cold towels to cool us off. What a nice touch! It saved us!

One of the worst golfing experiences I have had. Course got very backed up very quickly, 3 min tee times, the warden was incredibly rude. Ruined our whole experience. We will never be returning here

Food was disappointing

Ranger was extremely rude, will not be coming back

Great course. Really well kept. Difficult enough to keep it interesting for all levels of golfers, but not too difficult for a novice.

Worst golfing experience I have ever had at a course.

It was a holiday weekend, 11:30am tee time. We had a group of 6, 4 golfers and 2 riders for a total of three carts. We paid the proper price for everyone ($20 bucks per rider). First two holes were fine and then we dumped the two riders at the club house to grab drinks (because the bev cart just sped past us) so we could keep pace of play on the 3rd hole. As the riders were walking back to the carts, the course marshal stopped and yelled at them as it's 'dangerous to be walking on the course'...weird since it's a golf course and people walk on it all the time.

From there the marshal kept circling us and watched us like a hawk on hole 4 and 5, so much so we had to ask him to move to get out of the way of our shot and line of sight to the hole. For one shot he parked literally 20 feet away from our ball and stared us down as we shot.

Carry on to the 5th hole. Golfers in our group teed off and we were waiting for the group in front of us on the green so we had the two riders (who are new to golfing) take a tee shot to waste time and practice. The marshal swooped in so fast pointing and yelling at us that he 'checked at the golf shop and we did not pay for 6 golfers, only 4 and that the two 'ladies' are not to pick up a single club again otherwise we would be tossed from the course'. For the next four holes he continued to circle us and watching us from afar.

The power tripping marshal ruined the whole outing for us. We were keeping pace of play, trying to have a good time, not causing any trouble and trying to expand the game to new golfers at no expense to anyone.

Will NEVER golf here again.

First time playing there! I can't believe how beautiful it was! I loved the long grass all around the course! You better hit in fairways! The girls at the clubhouse were super friendly! Will be back!

The golf course is in great shape except for all of the goose droppings on the greens and tee box but the management cannot do much about that during the peak time, all in all it was a great round of golf

I have been coming to Fox Fire at Par 4 Resort for quite some time, I have always had a good experience when there, I have to say with the new owner that has taken over a few months ago it has been changing for better and I really didn't think that was possible. All of the little changes he has made so far are to make the experience even better. I love the fact that there is a small putting green and a chipping green close by. It is not an easy course by far but an absolutely beautiful one!

My family has been repeat customers of foxfire gc since we moved to Waupaca in 2013. We’ve chosen foxfire numerous times for the convenience and usually well kept nature of the course. Now, I can say for certain that we won’t be returning, and will be telling our friends and golf colleagues in the area to go play at better courses like Glacier Wood or Waupaca Country Club. My father was out practicing his short game on the chipping green and practice area when he was approached by who we assume is the owner. He reprimanded my dad for practicing without a tee time and also accused my dad (who is a golfer of 40+ years) of hitting shots off the green surface. They told him to leave and also had someone following him around the property as he was looking for Jeanie or another member of the golf staff to talk to. I’ve been out to the course numerous times just to chip and putt around if I had some time to kill, I’ve never found this once to be their policy, and your newly retired GM says their is no policy regarding this either. As a PGA professional, I can’t imagine approaching a situation like this with a player or guest at my facility. Shame on you Foxfire. Remember that you are in Rural Wisconsin and exist because of a tight knit golf community. There are several other options in the area, maybe it’s time the community takes their golf game elsewhere. Do better.

Paige is an excellent new addition to your club!!!

Used to be one of my favorite golfing locales in central Wisconsin. Hadn't golfed there in some time, and the whole vibe just seemed off. The course is lined with residential development, which I've never been a huge fan of. Some of the members seem to be just downright rude. Luckily the staff is great, and the course is usually in great shape!
