The lifeguards at this place play by there own rules. They say you have to have a life jacket on your child playing in kiddy area but no where in the other 4 areas of waterparks are these rules. When confronted they got mad and wanted to throw me out. As an owner I am saddened to know this is happening.

The concept of building a part of the resort on the lake is a great idea, especially for warm weather months! They have outdoor grills and condos right on the lake. We went in winter and utilized the shuttle system to take us to the waterparks. Shuttle system is pretty good - we used the blue line which runs often enough we were never waiting very long to be picked up. Condos have more room than the usual hotel rooms, but word of warning- they are part of the resort but somehow individually owned so they can vary as far as what is stocked in the kitchen, etc. We had a few missing items from the kitchen that were supposed to have been there, and actually ended up leaving the owners a suggestion list of items they should consider sticking the kitchen with because we were missing some pretty basic things we could've used, like oven mitts, a dishcloth/scrubber, a cookie sheet, etc. - just basic stuff. So pack everything you think you may need if it's going to be an issue not to have it, just in case!

Nice spot

Reserved the 3 bedroom loft. More than enough space for a big family with full kitchen and utensils. The bathrooms are huge...we think it's wasted space but nice to have. pantry. A lot of space for storage. We stayed on a weekday and price was reasonable if sharing with other family.

I'll give this place 5 stars and explain my experience. I found there to be plenty of parking. My son and I went to check out the lake, had to step over 4 teenagers enjoying some of the local street pharmacists' herbal remedies, to get down the stairs. The front desk staff was pleasant, they seemed busy. But we're polite none the less. Check in was fast, our room was ready at 2pm. Our room was nice. The hot tub in the room worked, as did all the remotes and tvs. They let us fish from the dock, and didn't hassle me about putting in a paddle board. The pontoons for the boat ride looked to be in pretty good condition. The maintenance staff was very polite. It smells like downtown Denver through out the property. ( if you live there you know) The beach was clean and accessible. Our beds were comfortable, and clean. The indoor and outdoor pools were open. Lifeguard attended, they were friendly. We stayed for 4 nights, didn't have any issues and were not hassled by anyone. The shuttle service is convenient, and the drivers are very personable. We even managed to catch a few fish.

This is the perfect place for a getaway for the family. It’s pricey but worth it. Many swim areas to choose from indoors and outdoors. The food was typical junk food that kids like to eat. Nothing healthy for adults to enjoy except some areas had drink stations.

The first thing we noticed was that none of the doors inside the room lock. The second thing was that there were ants by the large bath coming through a crack in the wall. The room smelled a bit when we entered and we even tried to get rid of the smell ourselves. The pools and parks were enjoyable but half the water slides seem to be broken and the shuttle waits were absurdly long. When I checked in, some alarm went off and the front desk worker went to go check on it but that had me waiting at the front desk for about 10 minutes before someone helped me again. It’s affordable for a nice guys trip but I don’t know if we’ll be back.

We returned to Wilderness on the Lake after about a 3 year hiatus…and with two additional kids. The room was terrific, clean and roomy. Beds were comfy, and the room thermostat worked accurately. The hot tub functioned as it should. I’m impressed with the wide hallways and Doorways. The water park was clean, but is showing its age with a lot of patches and repairs. It’s too bad that corporate didn’t use the pandemic downtime for a refurbishment. Still, it didn’t feel scuzzy, just “used.” The water park was a bit “meh” for my 11 year old, without the outdoor pool open for the season, but we knew that might be the case when we booked. The other two kids had a hoot! There was a lot of late-night activity at the hot tub, bar and in some of the rooms. But I was impressed to hear security was quick to tamp down the noise. Wilderness on the Lake only gets three stars however, for the following two reasons: 1. I continue to be disappointed in The Wilderness corporate, that, there STILL are not a lot of Gluten Free options on the property as a whole (including the big resort). It’s better than in the past. But I just don’t have a lot of confidence that the front desk staff can give accurate recommendations on allergy-safe restaurant options. For the premium price The Wilderness charges, allergy-friendly options need to be a must accommodate , not a “I think they can.” 2. Which brings me to the cost. For close to the same price-per-night, my family of 5 could stay at Disney’s Riviera Resort. The accommodations, food options and amenities around the Riviera, are on a completely different level than the Wilderness on the Lake. If The Wilderness is going to charge a premium price, they need to consider the competition, and rise to the occasion. Currently, there’s a pretty big gap in quality of vacation.

We had an absolute amazing time when we stay here for my sons 18th birthday. Definitely will be returning.
