Not sure why this place is rated so low, don’t listen to the hype! Any place with a salmon BLT is worth it, especially for slope side food! We had a wonderful lunch- I got the salmon BLT, and the nachos and buffalo chicken wrap were ordered by two friends, also impressed by the food quality. Beers on draft paired nicely with the food, and the view of the slopes was fantastic. Highly recommend !

Terrible selection of food during the Friday night concert series. Basically quesadillas. Ended up ordering a pizza from down the road.

Wasn’t even sure if it was open upon arrival, lots of cars and no activity walked around back to an empty pub. $14 for a turkey sandwich and chips and a soda. No thank you, Canaan Valley is way over priced for what it has.

We paid a lot for the room only to find out everything being offered on New Year's Eve, inside the lodge, required special reservations or had restrictions. Two parties were going on, but my family ended up staying in the room. Ridiculous. Our kids were turned away from the family party because we weren't on the list. Wait, what? What list? Amenities should have been included in the price or at least offered to everyone staying at the lodge first. A live band was playing upstairs, but no kids were allowed to watch because they were serving alcohol... Huh, so does almost every decent restaurant in the U.S., but kids are still welcome. Very disappointed in this visit and with the staff, who had no idea what was going on and need better training in hospitality. A lot of miscommunication on their part. Pool is small; arcade games weren't all working; and the sauna is still out of order (since last year or longer) Positive note: the restaurant is good and the staff working there are great. The ice skating rink was nice and the staff working there were very helpful. Beware of their holiday weekends and know what's included before you go. Lesson learned here.

We booked a week here for our family to relax and ski. We had a great time! The skiing and snow tubing was so fun, the hotel was quiet, and there is lots to do. Slightly shabby indoor pool and outdoor ice skating rink were nevertheless fun!

We reserved a king suite with TWO sofa beds, which was really important for us with 3 kids. When we checked in, the suite had only one of the beds, however an adjoining room was available. I told the front desk that this mistake had been made and if we could be given the adjoining room so my kids can get tghe beds that we counted on. Front desk told and manager told me that it could be purchased at present rates, but they'd make no accomdation to the mistake they made. Basically, the management made no attempt to help. We came here for skiing and particularly because they advertized a shuttle that can take the kids to the slope. But they're not ruinning it now, Hotel is OK, but reserations and management leaves much to be desired.

My boyfriend and I booked a room only two weeks before we visited for a decent price. I went in with zero expectations. The resort was extremely clean and the dining experience offered gluten free and dairy free options which was fantastic. The room was beautiful plus clean. downside is the comforter wasnt really a comforter— moreso a mattress cover used as a blanket, the mattress was too hard and the pillows offered no support so bring your own! when we asked if they had any extra firm pillows we were greeted with a laugh lol. All in all though it was a beautiful stay and I really hope they keep improving — this place has a ton of potential. The Skiing was amazing! I had the best trainer, Sammy. He was patient and very kind. Only the green slopes were opened (it was opening weekend.) there were icy parts but overall a great experience and the employees made us all fee welcome. I wish I could give this place 4 stars the main reason I didnt was because of the bed and pillows. (I love my sleep) and we left early because of that. if they make this improvement, I would definitely come back.

Spent three nights at this resort. The scenery in October was just beautiful with the mountains as the backdrop. The rooms were beautiful and clean. We had both breakfast and a dinner meal there were there was an assortment of danishes and hot items such as pancakes, eggs, potatoes. It was nice at dinner to watch the deer come up to feed from the Hickory Dining Room. Also, spent a couple of nights at the Laurel Lounge where the staff were qucik and fun to be around.

King room was clean but a little pricey. Hallways are a little dark for older eyes. Dinner in restaurant was good. The resort doesn’t have a fire. They want guests to buy firewood and start it themselves without any kindling. Like other resorts I think they can have a fire for guests.

I stayed here for a conference this week. Here’s the good: The rooms are clean and comfortable. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee, tea, fridge, microwave, and cable are all available en-suite. The resort is just massive and getting around for the conference was difficult for me as I have a disability and the hotel provided a wheelchair for me at no cost. Here’s was wasn’t so good: A member of our staff was yelled at by a member of the resort staff for using a luggage trolley that he thought had a “reserved” sticker on it but it didn’t. And then he watched her struggle to get inside and never offered to assist. The staff here was something out of a comedy. They were rude and unhelpful when you could actually get ahold of someone. I tried calling the front desk on 5 occasions between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday mid-morning. No one ever answered. The same for the restaurants, no answer. As for the restaurants, they all have menus available on the resort webpage, nothing on them was available and the cafe that promised breakfast wasn’t open. What was available was ridiculously expensive, even for a resort. Speaking of expensive, if you stay here, bring a cooler with your own drinks. The vending machines charge $2.65 ea and the tap water is kinda funky tasting, even with ice. For the conference part - the rooms were spacious and effective but breakout spaces were on another floor and we had to ask for tables in them. The resort also states they have live streaming capability, they do not. What they have is wifi. That’s all. And the staff charged with IT didn’t know there is a difference. For a resort, this location is visually stunning. No question about that. But that is where the recommendation ends. I hope to return to this area at some point but I will not stay here.

BUYER BEWARE!.. In July 2022 I was contacted by a friend who told me about an upcoming golf trip in August 2022 to Canaan Valley. They had more than 60 golfers and had 2 openings, so, another friend of mine and I decided to attend. We paid $420 for food, lodging, and 3 rounds of golf. Unfortunately, I contracted COVID (for the second time) 2 days before the trip. I was told by my Doctor that I was required to quarantine and consequently could not go on the trip. My friend that was going with me didn't know one single person that was going and also decided not to go. It was a 6 hour trip by car and even if I had felt like going I would not have exposed 60+ golfers to COVID! I contacted the resort about a refund and was told that the person who set up the trip would be the only person who could offer any refunds as they handled everything. I sent an email to my original contact asking that it be forwarded to the appropriate person. I stated that if money was paid for food and lodging on behalf of me and my friend then we understood that it would not be refunded. However, the golf fees should absolutely be returned as we were not there to play so there was no cost to the Resort or anyone else. Now, more than 2 months later, I was told that there would be NO REFUNDS AT ALL! .. So, BEWARE before you book a trip..

We stayed 4 nights at their campsites as we are RV travelers. Some sites are better then others. All and all the staff are right on top of every aspect of this RV park There is trash pick up and they are building new sites, and brand new bath houses. I did not use them as we are self contained. The grounds are beautiful as is the entire area. Peaceful and the deer are protected there so they are everywhere. They will eat out of your hand if you feed them. So tame. If you camp there you have full use of the facilities at the resort as in the pool. Inside pool there is a charge of $7.00 Resort is very nice good food. I would return.

The wife and I came here for a long weekend getaway and we were quite pleased. The accommodations were great. The resort was clean and offered a variety of activities. The price was reasonable compared to other mountain resorts. The main dining room was fine for a nice dinner. My only complaint was service at their lounge restaurant, where we were completely ignored at the bar. So maybe BYOB for the evenings.
