Hospital is good, staff is good!

Have found some of those metal strands from a grill brush in my food on a couple different occasions and recently. I hope it is resolved soon!

Louis a Johnson is a really good VA hospital that seems to take really good care of their veteran patients we’ve been going there for years for my father. They’ve always done their job to the highest.

This is a very good VA and I've been to a few. The nurses and most of the staff are top notch. BUT. Do not try and get in the PTSD track. I'm a combat veteran of Afghanistan and was diagnosed with PTSD in 2008. I tried to get in the track and ( Ky ) the coordinator told me that I had not been diagnosed. I needed help with not only PTSD but addiction as well. I decided to contact Martinsburg VA and got put in the CAT-5 track. I went to see my PT ( primary therapist) for the first time. The very first thing out of her mouth was that I had been diagnosed with combat PTSD. So if you decide to choose this program, I highly recommend Martinsburg VA. Shame on you Ky for not doing your job and the proper research.

***First visit for appointment experience***

The parking lot was definitely packed! But still, a good amount is available that's not too far from the entrance. Decent for people able to walk and others with mobility issues. All employees seemed nice! All the vets I saw while there seemed to be nice. No one being rude or treating you that they are better than you.
They have a decent little 7 day store and canteen/cafeteria. Also, little shop by main elevators that sell hats and other veteran mech.
The ladies in the dental clinic were very nice. It wasn't packed at all, but I still had to wait pretty much til appointment time to be seen. The doc was nice and helpful. Time will tell if she follows thru with what she said.

So far, I have had a positive experience here! Could change over time the more im there for other appointments. People come and go, and people change. Just hopefully, the hiring freeze ends, and they can finish hiring and be close to, if not fully staffed, in each department to better care of vets and help people in a more timely manner. It will also give all employees a deserved break as there would be more employees to share the workload. Which in turn, helps reduce burnout, increase quality of care, and increase customer service and better behaviors.

Thank you, Clarksburg VAMC

This is the worst VA medical center that I have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of suffering through. This is no semblance of normal healthcare and they don't even try to make it as such. Most of the actual medical professionals are very nice and the doctors, especially those who volunteer at the ER from WVU are top notch. However, your options for an actual Primary Care Provider are extremely limited. I do believe the VA needs to pay their doctors more if they ever hope to change this but alas that will never happen. The people that work the desks and make your appointments are typically rude and disrespectful. It's almost as if they intentionally make it difficult. I have heard nurses on more than one occasion refer to Veterans as "junkies" and "adicts". As a Veteran, you will have to fight for any appointments you need, even if you are 100% P&T. You will be fortunate to have a doctor go over any of your major tests like MRI's and it's unlikely that your doctor will even look at it before your follow up appointment. For instance, I had a brain MRI that proved to be serious and when I scheduled my follow up, my PCP at that time had no idea what the appointment was for or that it was even a follow up for the test that she, herself, ordered. (After having to grovel and beg for it, of course) I ended up having that follow up with one of the several, roughly ten, different doctors I have had in the short few years I have been "receiving care" here. Nothing came of that appointment even though I need to see a neurologist and the real severity of the results were not explained to me in the slightest. It's reprehensible that we are treated this way. I would akin this sort of treatment to that of an incarcerated inmate but I believe inmates probably receive better healthcare than this.

Doc Krywicki/VA Surgical Team&Staff/Ms. HeatherI am so grateful for their skill, time, and wonderful work ethic! I had a procedure on my right hand. My goodness, it feels so much better. God bless you all for your help!

They call it "Healthcare" but it's actually not. All they actually do is hand out Flonase, melatonin and veteran crisis line packets. It's nothing like seeing a regular doctor at all.

One of your employees called my place of business regarding one of my residents. I stated to give me a couple moments as I was upstairs on my 3rd floor, no where near my desk with my information. I then make it back, thank him for waiting and before I can even continue he starts saying first of all this if for so and so right? Date of birth blah blah blah right? I tried explaining I don't have access to his information as I am not a nurse, I also stated that the phone he called me on is my mobile phone and we aren’t able to initiate transfers on said phone. I asked if I could call him back and he actually got an attitude with me. He did give me a number and an extension, before I was able to even say thank you he said now read that back to me so I know it’s right. He didn’t ask, he told me, very rude and disrespectful. I then call and your automated system didn’t give me an option to put in an extension so I spoke with the operator, explained myself and he cuts me off also saying just give me to extension, no thank you, no give me one moment, nothing. Know I imagine I’m going to have to speak with your establishment again since they are the ones that called me regarding one of my residents, that perfectly fine but please make sure to provide from customer service training before they do so.Thank you so much.
