One of your employees called my place of business regarding one of my residents. I stated to give me a couple moments as I was upstairs on my 3rd floor, no where near my desk with my information. I then make it back, thank him for waiting and before I can even continue he starts saying first of all this if for so and so right? Date of birth blah blah blah right? I tried explaining I don't have access to his information as I am not a nurse, I also stated that the phone he called me on is my mobile phone and we aren’t able to initiate transfers on said phone. I asked if I could call him back and he actually got an attitude with me. He did give me a number and an extension, before I was able to even say thank you he said now read that back to me so I know it’s right. He didn’t ask, he told me, very rude and disrespectful. I then call and your automated system didn’t give me an option to put in an extension so I spoke with the operator, explained myself and he cuts me off also saying just give me to extension, no thank you, no give me one moment, nothing. Know I imagine I’m going to have to speak with your establishment again since they are the ones that called me regarding one of my residents, that perfectly fine but please make sure to provide from customer service training before they do so.Thank you so much.

I can’t give thanks enough to the Lois A Johnson VA Medical Center!!Ashley Crandall the Rehabilitation Counselor and all the staff there has been absolutely wonderful to me!! If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know what I would have done!I just recently relocated to the area and had absolutely no idea where to turn for jobs etc. I had no family or support, but I knew being a veteran, I needed to reach out to my local VA.Its because of the CWT program with Ashley’s guidance and her many resources/encouragement that I started taking local college classes and now I’m getting ready to start school with a full paid Masters scholarship through the VR&E in Psychology/Counseling. (I decided that I want to give back to veterans and be a positive like Ashley was a positive in my life).I went into the CWT program at the VA hospital and started working through the Food Services. (Btw.. absolutely wonderful staff!! Hard working and such a pleasure to be around. All of them!!) I even got offered a job, but I turned it down for education.Ashley was so empowering to me! She never told me what I should do etc, but she was always there for me. She’s so full of resources and has been there with me every step of the way!! She always encourages me with a smile and tells me that I can absolutely do anything that I put my mind to. I couldn’t have done it without her. (She saw in me, what I couldn’t see in myself.)I am so thankful to everyone at this VA. I have a place to lay my head, a job and now education due to the people here. I definitely feel so blessed… I want every veteran to know that there are people here that want you to succeed and be the best version of yourself. I want to encourage you to give them a call!! There are people who truly care for you, but you have to take that first step! Thanks to you all again!! I’m so grateful!!

During my recent sleep study, The two nurses went on and on about their personal lives and what of the VA police they like and dont like while putting sleep study probes on me, and I mentioned how tight the chest strap was and it made it hard to breathe, the one nurse said it had to be tight. A few hours later I could not breathe with it on so tight, I got up sweating and could not breathe I told her it was too tight but she told me not to take it off, I undid the starps anyway and asked to use the restroom, when I came back to the bed I said not as tight this time with the chest strap, she said it had to be I said If it has to be that tight then we should abort the test then because I could not breathe, she put it in me looser, still tight but I could breathe a little easier, I slept for the test a few hours and then got a letter from the MD director, scolding me for my bad behavior that "will not be tolerated, of non compliance during the sleep study, that my behavior was causing safety risks. I feel like their attitude tword myself and other veterans is offensive, and disrespectful. There was a camera on in the room the entire time, I request someone reveiw the tape, and help the MD director and the staff to have a better attitude, and perspective on their role and how they should treat the veterans they serve. If It was possible to only have care in the community that would be great, going to this VA hospital you will be treated like an inmate rather than a War Veteran.

This hospital was terribly negligent. They put my brother out in the cold on a Saturday, and locked the door. The ER doctor said that he would be in ICU for a week. He could have died if we didn't drive 3 hours to go get him. He was freazing and hungry when we got there.

Everyone always says, " The VA is terrible," well NOT this VA! This VA has friendly, helpful staff. The facility is immaculate. We have never had a bad visit here. Staff will stop in the hallway and provide directions if you look lost. Travel pay is done promptly. All the staff we have come across are courteous and polite.

Had a dental appt...the dental clinic and the eye clinic are as good as anywhere! They seem to have a problem keeping doctors in the other areas though. I was told it was because "No one is allowed to make more than the POTUS." I'll keep my opinion to myself on that . I've been receiving all my medical care there for over 20 years and I like it there.

I cannot say enough great things about this VA Hospital. When I first began receiving care there, I was apprehensive. I can honestly say I am treated with the utmost care and compassion. When they didn't have the ability to treat me on site. I was sent to the Cleveland Clinic. Staff that I run into frequently always take the time to see how I am doing, even if I don't have an appointment with them that day. They still take the time to ask and to answer any questions that I might have. The veterans of central West Virginia are certainly fortunate to have this facility.

I would like to publicly thank the Louis A Johnson VA medical center for the prompt care and treatment.

Sadly, I must change my ratings of this facility. I blame the situation sqarely upon the "Biden Administration" and the liberals who think veterans aren't owed anything. This hospital had 5 stars in my prior review. Today, the wife, a disabled veteran, had to avail herself of the ER staff again. We were at the hospital a total of 5.5 hours, and there were only a few scant patients.Per the attending ER there, staff had been CUT IN HALF. He administered a COVID test to my wife, but could not provide the normal, expected flu/RSV because that had been "REMOVED" as unnecessary by the VA. The ER MD had a lot to say about THAT as well, because these were given all the time, every time, through Summer 2022. Now, in the Fall of 2022, when the flu becomes prevalent, the VA decides it's not needed.Since WHEN is the VA system any kind of expert in things "medical?" Well, they have become that true oxymoron of "government intelligence" now. The news articles I had read months ago talked of eliminating services at ALL VAMC hospitals, places where every veteran we know (and knew) would always resort-to for their myriad of injuries, treatments, etc.So now it's happening anyway. News says it was killed. Nope. It's happening. And then, to add insult to my wife even further, we waited an hour and a half for some meds at the pharmacy. The meds were filled while my wife was in ER, but nobody in the pharmacy section thought to look for them when we first asked. "Oh, we'll call you when it is ready" was the standard reply.Well, it WAS ready. For an Hour and a Half! My wife just needed to get going. This was a full day of nonsense.Look, I have no problem with the health providers overall. Some have been exemplary, true models of medical science (Dr. Covelli and Dr. Wiskowski, to name two key physicians in my care over the years). They were and are amazing. But...the problem is the system and the problem is the current administration in-charge, which seeks to shunt the blame to everyone and their cousin. Know what?"The buck stops here," and Harry S. Truman's words are no less true today. I don't need to hear anything more, will never go there again. My wife must make her own decisions about this place. You may not like my review, but I speak from my experience today, and from the heart. I know where the blame lies and where evil lies.

I’ve been going to the VA off and on for the past 30 years and between the va and private practice I’ll take the VA any day of the week. The staff is great and I rarely if at all, remember ever having problems with anybody in the staff. Everyone has the same genuine concern for their patiences. And the waiting is very reasonable.

Everyone has their bad experiences one time or another with the VA. ( anywhere).Which is excepted !!!Society is changing and individuals get offended very quickly... Especially when ( A Veteran)does not understand and ask questions... Then staff say it is not my job or department...Then staff threatens to put flags on in your file. For asking questions. !!!! More and more staff get very offended even when you say Hi !, Good Morning!, or Good Afternoon!!! Sad ?
