We took a drive to Madison to visit this adorable restaurant! Greeted by Maddie who was our amazing server! We ordered the Chicken Dumplings with mashed potatoes and corn. And the yummy Mandarin & Blueberry salad! Everything was very delicious! I could had drank the sweet tea all day long! Maddy checked on us the whole time. We ordered the Lemon Mascarpone with coffee! Great lil boutique at entrance area. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy some serenity! Support this sweet place and let’s help them stay around!

From the moment we stepped onto the covered porch, we were transported to grandma’s home and kitchen—a truly magical afternoon.
The Magnolia House on Park is a hidden gem nestled by the river at the end of the street. The covered screened-in porch is set for multi-season use with ceiling fans and several fireplaces.

We were promptly greeted and chose a corner table with a great view of the river. The table was custom-built from 100-year old barn wood. The menu changes daily and also includes a selection of salads that offer a variety of dressings made on-site.

We selected fried green tomatoes as our appetizer—and they were some of the best we’ve ever eaten. Today’s entree options were chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, and cabbage rolls. We decided to dine family style—which allowed us two entrees and four sides. We opted for the chicken and meatloaf. I’m not a meatloaf person—but what I tasted today made me a convert!

Our sides were a house salad (I had the orange zest dressing, which is made on the premises and my friend had thousand island), mashed potatoes, green beans and corn. Rolls served with the meal literally melted in your mouth. My friend said they were just like her grandmother’s rolls (and grandma was a school cook in Boone County).

Portions were generous and our server gladly boxed the leftovers—which I will split with another friend for tomorrow’s lunch.

Though we were satiated—we were unable to pass on dessert, again, all homemade. I had the lemon berry mascarpone cake and my friend had pumpkin pie—an explosion of autumn in your mouth.

We both had Magnolia iced tea (offered sweet and unsweet)—which is garnished with lemon, orange and a sprig of organic mint. Refills are bottomless and our attentive server kept our glasses filled.

We had the distinct pleasure of meeting the proprietor/cook, her daughter (our server), and her mother. Magnolia House on Park is a labor of love—something that shines through in every bite.

Before we left, we enjoyed some retail therapy in the boutique, which features an eclectic array of items from local artisans and books by regional authors. We can’t wait for our next visit!

Beautiful gem for a restaurant in every way! This place was recommended by a neighboring antique store owner and we were taken aback by the food, service and atmosphere!
There were 8 of us who ordered all different entrees and differing deserts- all delicious! The service was excellent. We wish we could have stayed another week just to eat here a few more times. The owners shared the history of the place in true southern hospitality.

Kid-friendliness: Ice cream wasn’t specifically on the menu but was offered to the young boy with us and he was thrilled.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a nice easy ramp to enter onto the porch and to eat in.

I’ve been to this wonderful Resturant in boone county and I’ve came to love it so very much , it’s very cozy and the owner is so friendly and likes to check on the customers and speak with them . It’s a very warm environment . Lots of friendly people and love the large deck that has the warmest farm tables touch and screened in for heat or ac if needed and a view of the river flowing past . If you’ve not visited yet it’s a must to add to your food places to visit , excellent food ! Home cooked and desserts are so good . Also great beverages of teas and waters to satisfy the palate

The Magnolia House has delicious food within a beautiful setting. The house is beautiful and the screened back porch would be a great place to enjoy a meal by the river.

First time diner. I’m from Charleston and had business at the Boone County Courthouse. Trying to avoid the ease of fast food, I was told about the Magnolia House (about five minutes from the Courthouse in Danville). My son was with me. He had a club sandwich, I had a house salad with grilled chicken. Both were good and reasonably priced. The ambiance on the screened in porch is wonderful, especially on this cool spring day. Our waitperson, daughter of the owner, was wonderful. I will definitely be back and will recommend to others.

I ordered TWO take out meals today, one chicken and dumplings and one meatloaf, because that was all that on the menu for today along with sides. I also bought desserts, spending close to $60.00. I get home and have 2 chicken and dumpling dinners. How can you get just two orders wrong? Advice - if you order take out, check your meal before you leave there.

Had been very curious to try this place & they did not disappoint! We went there for brunch on a Sunday and had our choice between three entrees. I got the chicken and dumplings which were great, though the mashed potatoes stole the show a bit. The real highlight though was the meatloaf that my partner ordered, I tried a bite and it may be the best meatloaf I’ve ever had! So tender and fluffy! Also tried their lemon berry mascarpone cake that had an edible orchid :) The staff were especially sweet & helpful and the atmosphere is really neat, between the beautiful old house and the work they’ve put into the outdoor seating section. Can’t wait to come back, so glad they’re in the area!

Wandered down to Danville to give the new The Magnolia House on Park Avenue a try. Sitting along the river along a street mixed with old industrial buildings its a surprise to walk into a quaint old house with bluegrass music playing on the covered patio. They have spent a lot of time getting the details right. For a Saturday evening it was surprisingly not busy. They have a menu that changes weekly and we ordered a Cobb salad, Chicken Salad Croissant and a grilled cheese for the little guy. The salad was good. The small was a portion large enough to be a dinner salad, and everything was fresh. The chicken salad was decent. Kind of reminded me of grocery store chicken salad that had grapes in it; not bad, but not great. Kinda runny and I’m betting it was made with a touch of miracle whip. My husband said the ranch had a miracle whip tang to it too. Our waitress was nice and friendly. The food did take a good 15-20 minutes to come out, but we enjoyed the nice afternoon, so no big deal. Smidge on the pricey side, but as to be expected with the style of the place. Our dinner was $27 + tax/tip. ($12/sandwich, $10/salad & $5 for the grilled cheese) Overall not a bad spot. We’re looking forward to going back for brunch one weekend.

Nestled within a quaint corner of town, The Magnolia House exudes warmth and charm from the moment you step through its doors. As someone with a gluten allergy, I'm always on the lookout for accommodating eateries, and The Magnolia House surpassed my expectations. Their extensive array of gluten-free options delighted my palate, particularly the spaghetti and garlic bread, which boasted a remarkable texture and flavor that rivaled its gluten-filled counterparts. Each bite was a testament to the chef's dedication to crafting impeccable dishes that cater to all dietary needs. My mom, was equally impressed with her meal. The Northern Beans, served alongside velvety mashed potatoes and fresh beets, transported her back to nostalgic memories of home-cooked meals. The authenticity and care infused into every dish at The Magnolia House are evident, making it a haven for those seeking not only delicious cuisine but also a dining experience brimming with warmth and inclusivity. Without a doubt, The Magnolia House stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, beckoning guests to indulge in its delectable offerings time and time again.

Dietary restrictions: Lots of good gluten free options.
