I went in 5 minutes before opening to use the bathroom since I was on a road trip. The owner yelled at me to get out. Wouldn't even let me buy anything for his trouble.

If you're looking for bbq in Morgantown you'd be doing yourself a huge favor by skipping this and going anywhere else, because it's just disappointing. I honestly never leave reviews but this is something I couldn't pass up on. This place is significantly below average at best. The brisket was not edible and pork was thrown in the microwave before I got there. Everything was just poorly cooked all around and not worth the extremely expensive price I paid. They had one decent bbq sauce that made the food almost palatable and that is my only possible compliment.

Very bad brisket - It was dry, bland, and tough.

This was sadly the most bland bbq place I've ever been to. We got brisket, pulled pork, fries, Mac and cheese, and the cornbread and there wasn't a single food item that saved it. Not at all worth the price. Brisket was rubbery! Even my dog looked disappointed when we gave him a piece. Sorry but don't go to this place unless you wanna be sad.

The owners there are extremely nice and good people. The food is out of this world, and he also made me this from request cannot express how thankful I am for the owners of this place.

It was okay. I went in shortly after opening and got some brisket. It may have been from the day before and reheated, because it was pretty dry. Couldn't tell for certain the flavor, because I ate it with BBQ sauce.

Food was not hot. Macaroni cheese look a lot to be desired. Service was terrible from the young girl at the front desk. The owner was gracious enough to replace my mac & cheese with cowboy beans which were a bit better.

I love this place! It is the only authentic Carolina bbq I have found in the area, and everyone is so nice. We love the slaw & fries, too! Feels like a quick trip home :-)

My family and I cannot say enough good things about J&D’s Barbecue! The food, service, atmosphere, and the staff are all fantastic! This place has become one of our most favorite local restaurants that we frequently visit often, usually weekly! For anyone who loves barbecue, homemade recipes, unique daily specials, and a family atmosphere you’ll love John’s!

Order over the phone and seemingly nice so I gave a service rating. Cute little restaurant for the atmosphere with little homemade cakes. However, the brisket was BONE dry, I am not exaggerating when I say it had a jerky like texture with the sauce. The ribs were the same, you could take the bone out and the physical shape of the meat was unbothered and dry, my partner didn’t even finish them they were that bad…. The cornbread — DRY and crumbly, mac and cheese was 4/10 “okay”, and the green beans 5/10 however there was a short blonde hair in it…. so yeah. I thought I was being adventurous trying a different BBQ spot in Morgantown and I have learned to stay on the safe side next time!

A BBQ joint to pass on by. I normally do not post a bad review but this is an exception. My wife and I were traveling and pass by this exit off of 79 often. We decided to try BBQ, the food was average nothing special and a bit pricey for undersized portions. The bad part of this review was the coldness of wait staff and rudeness of the owner. As a life long business owner and now in our late 60's we realize of politeness and good communication. It was posted that no outside drinks, however my wife carry's a Yeti cooler cup due to issues that she cannot drink anything sweet or any sodas. The girl said we cannot bring our own drink so we purchased drinks and said we wouldn't drink from the Yeti. Shortly after receiving our food the owner came over and said I will take that glass! Rudely without any explanation. I said no you will not and he began rambling how if anyone saw that he could loose his business???Well I took the Yeti outside and set it by the door. As I business owner I would have been apologetic and said that is our policy and appreciated that he had a customer that just spent money in his business. Pass on by this place and go to a place that appreciates your money.
