I don't normally leave reviews but since this a much needed new restaurant on the Kanawha River and the only other review was so far from our experience I felt obligated. This is my 2nd visit in a week 1st visit was by myself out on the deck, great view of the river, server was very professional, burritos were great and about twice as much food as I could eat, I didn't read the receipt, but felt my meal was well worth what I paid. Came back tonight with the wife, gave her the tour. Nice new, clean dining areas, excellent bar with 2 bartenders, nice little lounge area, got a donkey you can try your cowboy skills on, little dance floor maybe for future use? Outside deck area is going to be the hotspot this summer, huge overlooking deck on the river, boat dock to hold several boats, tiki bar, Our meal tonight, shrimp and rice dish was awesome! my steak was a little more done then I liked, I was honest when the waiter ask how was everything, he apologized and offered to replace, I was already full so I got a doggie bag. No big deal. Place was not overly busy, but all our neighbors were happy and giving compliments to our waiter. We knew him from another popular Mexican restaurant in the area. So if you want to ensure a great experience request Jose Rodriguez to entertain you

2/22/24. Disappointed in the service and the food. Our server was friendly but that's not enough to make up for the slow service and food. The table next to us was being cleaned and they sprayed cleaner on us. We should have got up and left when that happened but we stayed unfortunately. The cleaner was so strong that I could smell nothing but pine sol. I'd rather smell food. There was only 2 of us and they brought our food separately while one of us had to wait a while. They charged us $1.11 for a 3% "convenience fee" which they add to all their bills before you pay with cash or card. This was our first visit - and last. I was charged $3.00 for a raw sliced jalapeno that was black inside. I ordered it to pair with a $4.50 cheese dip so it really surprised me that a few raw slices of jalapenos to help me enjoy the cheese dip made the price almost double. I should have brought my own fresher jalapeno for 10 cents. I asked the manager if she could change the price to $1.89 instead of $3.00 but she said no way. The manager even lied to me saying we charge so much more than other restaurants for jalapenos because we give you extra. That wasn't true. I always order jalapenos with cheese dip. Cozumel did not give anymore than I'm used to except Cozumel didn't slice them small enough. They cut them in such big thick rings that I couldn't eat them in one bite. For the $3.00 that they charged me I literally could have bought 12 pounds of jalapenos for what I was charged for one raw sliced jalapeno that was black inside. Guess it's worth us never coming back. First and last visit. I ordered cheese dip and 4 Mexican style tacos: birria, cactus, papas con chorizo and Carne "azada". The cactus seemed Canned and mushy, the birria wasn't flavorful. The Carne azada was the best, not too chewy and second place goes to papas con chorizo but the potatoes are too big. The sweet tea was overpoweringly sweet so we had to water it down.

We went there for dinner at about 830…. The food came out quick but they forgot to give us silverware for our food, which we had to wait another 10 minutes before we got that. We were there for roughly an hour, and not a single time did they offer to fill our drinks until I asked for the check. When I asked for more salsa, it took almost 25 minutes for her to bring it back out. I started thinking they must’ve closed at 9 and they were just trying to run us out of there by not taking care of us but when we left I asked the hostess and they didn’t even close until 10. Food was good, inside of the restaurant was very nice, The service was abysmal.

The food and service were fine but the prices were a little shocking. A very basic cheese quesadilla my kid orders is $9.00. Besides the prices the worst thing was the smell. They use way too much pine scented cleaner that it burns your eyes, ears, nose and throat. I noticed this at their Ashton Place location too. Walked out with a headache and feeling sick. It’s great to be clean but what they use smells way too strong.
