I ordered lunch — a chili relleno with beans and rice with a tamale on the side. I am 62 years old and have never been asked “Do you want that American or Mexican?” That was the first indicator that this was not going to be what I grew up eating in California. It was not. Although everything was prepared perfectly, it was under-seasoned, not spicy at all, barely ‘mild’ by salsa standards. Even the complimentary chips and salsa tasted like crushed tomatoes with a hint...
We had an early dinner here. We're visiting from Carolinas and was told that Carlitos was amazing. And it was!!! Great Americanized Mexican. We'll probably come back again before we leave the area :-).
They do a great job keeping your drink full, and checking to see if you need anything. The three Chili Rellanos entree was very stingy with the ground beef and chilies, mostly just cheese.
Server was attentive and got our orders just right ?. We had a party of nine.
