A very welcoming proprietor, he was friendly, took the time to greet me, the food was great..... based on atmosphere and quality everyone works hard to get it right.
We shared the chicken special of the evening. It was plenty for two. The service was great also. It was busy, but it was a Friday night.
We visited on a Saturday night at 7pm and were hoping to get some good steaks. We live nearby, but it was our first time trying Mullin's. The restaurant was really dead for some reason. Our server was great, but the food was disappointing, especially for the prices. We all felt the value for cost was low. Three (out of four) of us ordered steaks. The steaks were wide and flat (maybe half an inch thick), which was surprising. We ordered them medium rare and my aunt, who wears dentures, couldn't chew her ribeye because it was really over-cooked, so we had to send it back and ask them to recook it. (They did and it was a little pink at least, but it's hard to get a medium rare with such a thin steak.) I initially ordered the medallions, but our server came back and said it'd take 40 minutes, so I switched to a sirloin and it was also really over-cooked. My mom ordered the crab cakes, which were heavily breaded, like a corn dog. She said it tasted mostly like filler, like a tuna cake. We don't plan to eat here again.

We had dinner at Mullin’s 1847 in Moorefield, WV and tried the boneless pork chops and their special of the day, Prime Rib.
The boneless pork chops were a bit dry for my taste, and the fries were too soft—they lost their shape when picked up. The loaded baked potato was tasty, but I wasn’t informed that “loaded” came with an extra charge when the waitress asked. That said, the portions were generous—so much so that I couldn’t finish both side dishes.
The Prime Rib was a letdown. We ordered it medium rare but received it closer to medium. It didn’t taste like it was cooked as a traditional whole roast; instead, it seemed pre-sliced and cooked per piece, which made it dry and not as juicy as prime rib should be. At $34.99, we didn’t feel it was worth the price, especially with no mention of the cost beforehand.
Despite the food issues, the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and kind. Also, their warm bread with cinnamon butter was a standout—absolutely delicious.

Wonderful original architecture. Excellent food. Attentive staff. Karaoke night in the bar room on Wednesday evening was fun.
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant tonight! Surprised with bread and cinnamon butter to start us off.
Began with two local beers and the crab stuffed mushrooms. Excellent.
Main course: we had the shrimp Alfredo and crab cakes - delicious! (Being served sauces in plastic to go while dining in was a little weird).
Atmosphere: To eat where Ulysses S Grant and Robert E Lee once were had me geeking out! The history of this place is amazing!
Our server was nice too! We will be back!

The service was fabulous the minute we walked thru the door. The Open Faced Roast Beef with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans was extremely good. The Roast beef was so tender you can cut it with a fork. We will definitely be back the next time we pass through.

We stopped at this wonderfully cute hotel for the night and decided to grab a bite to eat. First and foremost, if you have the opportunity to stop by, be sure to have Aryana Wachter as your server/bartender. There was not one job she didn’t do while we were there. Historian, server, bartender, she even checked us in for nights stay! This sweet young lady has it all! Customer service score would be 100 stars!

Stopped by to try this place for lunch on a road trip today. As I was being seated I was told there was a half hour wait for food to be made. I was seated in a small room and noticed a couple flies. After sitting down I was facing double exterior doors and I then noticed the doors were covered with flies. I'm not sure if I've just walked out of a restaurant before after being seated but I did today.

I ordered the lunch special. Cheeseburger and fresh cut fries. My son ordered the meatloaf, mash potatoes n gravy, and carrots. Our food overall wasn't bad. My fries were a little overcooked (see pic) but still edible. Our waitress was awesome and very attentive! I probably would eat here again.
