I decided to try this place out today. I thought it would be great due to having won a couple of awards and many articles written on this restaurant. To my surprise, the food was lacking flavor, the chips tasted burnt due to old oil in the fryer. The tostada beans were watery. The queso was hot, but lacked flavor and meat on the tostada was cold. Will not be coming back. Save your money.

Salsa bar unavailable. Red onion on the tacos instead of white, and they skimp on the cilantro. (google street tacos and find me an image with red onion and I'll give a star back). Their hot soup was served in a plastic takeout container for dine in. The salsa verde looked like rotten jello but smelled worse.The biggest sin, though, was the Carne Asada, which was cooked too crowded on the cook surface or at too low of a temp, causing the meat to braise in it's moisture instead of browning, resulting in a chewy texture and unpleasant flavor. They clearly used a high quality steak for the asada as well, which made me sad at the lost potential.$40 for 3 tacos, birriaramen, and 2 drinks. Stick to La Tapatia if you want authentic Mexican food in Morgantown.

Absolutely the best Mexican food in Morgantown. Not only is the food exceptional (the street tacos, birriaramen, salsa, and elote), but the service is fantastic. The staff at Monarca are always so helpful and friendly every time I come in. Plus, they are incredibly speedy. Tonight I came by for some chips and salsa after a night out and they included a free serving of elote. I am so happy they are a part of our community, and I am so proud every time I get the opportunity to support them.

Just had One of the best Mexican style meals I’ve had in West Virginia. I got fish tacos, side of rice and Mexican soda. All of the food tasted great. You can tell they make their tortillas in house and fresh. Also, had a nice conversation with Laura And About Mexican culture. I’ll be back soon.
