This restaurant was a fantastic find. The apps were delicious and the bartender was very personable and professional.

This is very pleasant and friendly dinner spot with a casual feel but with just enough elegance - it's a place you'd take your parents to. I had the pasta with salmon special and my husband had the fried cauliflower and we split a salad. Good wine list, and husband enjoyed a strong vodka martini. He actually had a second one, which is always a good sign. Sargasso is a solid place, not cutting edge or anything, but I enjoyed it.

The restaurant wasn’t crowded yet the server was not on the top of her game. She was pleasant though slow to meet the needs of the group. I had the small Sargasso salad and the risotto with corn. Both were very good but not shown on the online menu.

Really nice to see an international menu that was done well, the schnitzel and Peruvian chicken were both on point, and for a reasonable price, overall enjoyed our experience, and will return.

Food is excellent. Staff were fine. Portions small. Prices are very high. The private room in the back is beside bathroom which is awkward.

Basically ridiculous prices for terrible food. They want to charge Morton’s fine dining prices but deliver a dirty table, and food that easily seems to be cooked by untrained high schoolers. If you are looking to be charged $54 for a minuscule piece of steak about the size of a tangerine placed on top of literal A1 steak sauce accompanied by overcooked fingerling potatoes that are dry and over seasoned come here. If you are looking to order a “salad“ that consists of sliced almost expiring celery with a few pieces of dry date and some poor quality red sauce advertised as cranberry but having no taste of cranberry, then come here. If you want to sit on tables that are so dirty your arm sticks to it when you take it off the table, then come here. The staff is polite, because this is Morgantown, WV. Everything else is a joke. I could have had better tasting food from McDonalds.

I’ve loved Sargasso for years. All experiences were nearly perfect up till my visit on 5/31. The restaurant was nearly empty (3 tables and one group in the private area). Our meal took a complete hour to arrive after ordering. As a family with 4 kids, this was rough. Everyone was miserably hungry by the time the food arrived. In my group, all seemed to enjoy their food minus mine. The pork chop was simply average. It tasted like shake and bake breading with a fatty piece of meat. I won’t give up on the one bad experience but I’m certainly disappointed.

Pretensious, overpriced, terribly done food. We ordered the sausage ragu, no salad, little bit of bread on the side, couldn't find any sausage, pasta swimming in a greasy, acidic gross excuse for sauce. Had to take several antacid when we got home. We'll never go back. 30 bucks for worse than canned pasta and meat balls.

Tables are sticky and uncomfortable to put your hands, arms on. Chairs are worn and sunk in. Conversations at the bar echo throughout the entire dinning room. The food is boring. The “oil and vinegar” with the bread is offensively too acidic. The calamari is not even remotely crispy and rubbery, even the small portion is indelible. The chicken dumplings are straight out of a frozen bag and should be served with something other than black vinegar, maybe a ponzu? The Sargasso salad is decent, but why is a celery salad your house signature salad is confusing. Filet is decent but over priced. Pork chop is over cooked served with an uninspired slaw. Very disappointing. Oliverios is much better food, sevice and ambience for half the price.

Don't let the location in a building with a medical office fool you. This restaurant is beautiful inside and the food is amazing. Cocktails were just as great as the innovative menu. Staff was friendly and attentive.

My husband and I had reservations for a nice romantic dinner after a long day of driving. Sargasso’s hit the mark on all points. The food was delicious. He had the shrimp and grits and I the chicken. Both were very good. The star though was the fried cauliflower with a little dusted white cheddar and a couple beautiful sauces. Oh my gosh! Fabulous for us as we are low carb. The restaurant has a good wine and spirits list. I enjoyed the elderflower cocktail which was delicious. Yum! The service was excellent. We highly recommend.

We visited Morgantown for two nights (June 11-12, 2021) and ate at Sargasso the first night. It was exquisite! Though rather short, the wine list had a couple of wines that were just what we were looking for. The calamari ("lightly floured and briefly fried, over Hoisin baby bok choy with a chili lime glaze) for $12 was just mouth-wateringly tender and delicious. The halibut special ($25) was perfectly prepared and came with lovely sides. My partner had lamb chops that she pronounced the best she'd ever had (and we've eaten our way through New Zealand). We looked at other restaurants the next night, but in the end couldn't get over the urge to return to Sargasso. The calamari and lamb chops remained fantastic, and the salmon entree ($33) was 10 stars out of 10. And did I mention the service was friendly and attentive? And tables were well-spaced in a well ventilated dining room.
