Indianapolis native, here. I just moved from Indiana to Pittsburgh and I was missing steak and shake bad. I drove an hour away to this location and I was not disappointed. It is a little different than what I’m used to, but it was still very very yummy! Also be careful getting into the drive-through… I don’t know why they set it up that way, but it’s like extremely dangerous low-key lol.

The food was cold and our order was incorrect. I also noticed a staff member preparing food without gloves, which was concerning. I’ve been to other S&S locations and have never had a poor experience, so this was disappointing. The atmosphere was nice and both the restaurant and bathrooms were fairly clean, but unfortunately the food itself was dissatisfying.

I very much hate giving one star reviews but afraid this place deserves it. Worst design for a parking lot ever. The floor, tables and walls look like the place has been open for 20 years, making you question your decisions as soon ad you make it inside. It was somewhat busy but not wait 45 minutes for a burger busy. The actual burger was terrible. Hard bun, meat so salty and dry I had to take a drink every bite to make it edible. Believe the reviews and avoid.

I decided to give this place a second chance since my original review was done shortly after they opened. I wish I could say it had improved but somehow I think it actually got worse. Not clean, bad service, bad food. I will not return. I should have known better.

I would give this place a zero if I could! The service here is the worst service I've ever seen in the world and I've seen a lot of service problems and I've been to some McDonald's I'm telling you this is 50 times worse than McDonald's! They ignore you at the counter they ignore you at the drive-thru! The fries are never hot if you happen to get a hot sandwich! Was really wanting some beef Tallow fries so I waited for over 10 minutes and the drive-thru I have several times for someone to talk to me and was blown off and told to look at the menu that I already looked at for 10 minutes!! So I took myself down to say return to bites and steps and got the absolute best smashburger in the whole wide world I'm going to tell you what!! I didn't get my beef Tallow fries but I will get some tomorrow at Meadowbrook Mall at the weekend bistro amazing food as well! Don't waste your time or energy or money on this place

I have been to this establishment two times. Once in the beginning when they first opened , and Once the other day. I am not one to write bad reviews , however, this place deserves it. When I first came to Steak ‘n Shake back around opening time, the place was filthy, Slow, and overall disgusting. Although staff was pleasant and dressed accordingly. I CANNOT say this about my latest visit. The place was a nightmare! Lobby was filthy, Nothing was restocked in the lobby and it reeked. The bathrooms were atrocious and had no toilet paper in the woman’s room! The place wasn’t packed and they had no urgency to clean the bathrooms. The staff was very unpleasant and seemed annoyed. They were dressed in casual clothing, nothing that should be worn while working. Some of the staff, although dressed accordingly was covered in filth! Needless to say I will NOT be going back here again. Not sure why management isn’t taking this seriously. VERY disappointed in this place , especially since it’s a new building! Should be clean and functional! Please get it together!

The Double Steak Burger was good, so were the crispy thin fries. The milkshake was a little liquidy but the food was all around good. With that said the staff seemed miserable. There was one guy yelling at others loudly. Everyone in the kitchen was griping and complaining. Would come back through the drive thru only. Did enjoy dinner, did NOT enjoy the show.

Super helpful team, I have a large family and we had a lot of food to carry out and they provided me with a box for the drinks and food to make it easier. That being said we had a large order and they accidentally put cheese on the one burger but they were more than happy to fix it for us.

While I agree with a lot of the reviews that this place was not a good location for the steak ‘n Shake, I do think a lot of the other reviews are absolutely unfair towards the employees and food, as I will explain.
Food price: As affordability goes I’ve fed my family of seven for $50 (including shakes!!!). Not even McDonald’s is capable of providing this amount of food with that level of affordability.
Quality of the food: I drove five hours with five kids specifically to get a steak ‘n Shake burger for my anniversary. We stayed in a hotel and drove five hours back the next day. I was not in the slightest disappointed with my meal and it was well worth the drive!
Service: people seem irritated that it’s a self-serve kiosk as if that’s some kind of horrible thing. Do you not realize they’ve taken away the need to tip someone? I don’t understand how in this economy that’s a bad thing. On a $50 tip I’d probably end up tipping $15 and my meal would have cost me $65 instead of $50! There was a problem with the bathroom while I was there (they ran out of toilet paper) but I notified the manager and it was fixed immediately!
Cleanliness: it was one of the cleanest steak ‘n shakes. I’ve ever been in. Steak ‘n Shake bathrooms are notorious for being gross, they’ve been that way since I was a small child but this bathroom wasn’t dirty at all. It was frustrating that they didn’t have toilet paper in there but again it was ratified rather quickly.
Being a big family we get a lot of dirty looks almost everywhere we go. Even with well-behaved kids a lot of places look at us as if our kids are gonna be a big mess and we’re gonna leave a disaster for them (which we don’t). Yet not once did the employees make me feel uncomfortable for having a bunch kids.
The entire town’s infrastructure sucks and giving it a one star review because the town’s infrastructure sucks comes off as obnoxious and Karen-y…. It feels like a lot of these reviewers were looking for reasons to complain (and if you check out there other reviews, you can kind of see that that’s a pattern).
