First time at First Place Cafe the food was very good and the service was great. They were very friendly and helpful and you get plenty of food. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. I had the bacon steak burger and fries. Burger was cooked perfect and the fries were seasoned just right.

Small space with big diner-style meals! To start, the chicken sandwich is the choice for first-time 1st Place Cafe goers, and be hungry when you come. It is huge and is a take on a southern-style chicken sandwich. Service takes a minute, depending on the time of day. I have gone at lunch, and before they close, times to wait were longer. The server takes the order at the register and brings it to the table when done. But I think they only have room for one server, my guess from observing. Soft drinks are bottles, and you can order a cup of ice with them. If you get french fries with a sandwich, expect to get about 1 lb of fresh diner style fries made with peanut oil. You also want to check their Facebook posts for if they have to close due to staff illness, etc. I was told the location is an old Rio Express (Mexican), but it is very clean and organized for the small dining space. Every wall has a TV, so it can be good to get a drink and watch games. Parking is just 6-10 spaces right in front of the building, so you have to back out into the road. It is a good non-chain diner-style food, and if we support them they might be able to grow into a bigger place! ?Parking: Careful backing out onto the main road!

Only 1-2 other tables eating.Food - 3/5 - We ordered a chicken sandwich / fries, burger / fries, and kids chicken strips. We instantly noticed the breading color on the kids chicken was off and the same on my sandwich. It wasn’t raw but the breading was odd/off. Guessing the oil wasn’t hot enough. Burger was really tasty! Fries weren’t exactly to my liking but that’s a personal preference.

This place was amazing! Be prepared to eat. Your french fries are going to come out in a basket that is full from side to side, edge to edge, and bottom the top. They're amazing! I had a burger when I went that couldn't have been tastier. A buddy of mine got the chicken sandwich and had enough to take half of it off to take home with him. I wish I would have thought to take a picture.

1st Place Cafe is a fast casual restaurant located in Nitro, WV that understands the concept of doing a few things excellent instead of many things mediocre. Everything on the limited menu seems to be a star especially the chicken and fries. Their tag should be good things come to those who wait or patience is a virtue. The menu suggests call ahead ordering. I was politely told when I arrived to a fairly full dining room on a Thursday evening that my food would take at least an hour. I had my phone and headphones to entertain me so I ordered the Nashville Blue with fries and a Fat Tire beer. I added some homemade spicy mayo for my fries.The portions are huge and dare I say family style. I highly recommend splitting a sandwich and fries. Each sandwich has two breaded chicken breasts, topped with bib lettuce, tomato, red onion, and homemade pickles. It is sauced with a perfectly spiced Nashville butter sauce and a homemade blue cheese dressing. This sandwich will make your hands a mess but it is worth it.The fries are a natural cut shoestring that are seasoned with salt and pepper. You are served a literal mountain of fries. Fresh, hot, and delicious.This sandwich is actually inexpensive at $13.99. It would cost $24.99 in any other city. I did feel the beer was pricey at $9.95. Next time I’ll order tea.The menu includes a newer chicken sandwich called the sweet and savory which adds bacon, cheese, pickled red onions, and a homemade honey mustard sauce. There are off menu specials which today included the a Rueben and a Rachel.After the dinner rush the owner came into the dinning room and talked to each table. Being the last table served we had a nice extended conversation. Why did I rate the service as a five for a fast casual restaurant with an hour wait? Because they were friendly, attentive, and honest about the kitchen time. You should check this place out.

Food was fantastic, fries were perfect and the chicken sandwich was delicious and huge. Probably the most bang for your buck resturant as well, they could cut the portions in half and itd still be a big meal at any other restaurant. Will defilently be back and would highly recommend.
