Amazing Place!

Time to review after 10 or so visits. Probably the best overall restaurant on the mountain. Good cocktails, delicious food, great service. Menu switches up by season and it's creative. Yes it's a bit expensive. Yes it would probably be 10-15 dollars cheaper in your home town. It costs money to haul stuff up this hill and make food from scratch. It's worth the visit. Treat yourself while you're at Snowshoe!

This was our favorite meal of the trip! We were delighted to see our server from lunch earlier in the day helping us and she was awesome again. The restaurant is beautiful with gorgeous arches and a rustic feel. We thoroughly enjoyed the poached pear salad to start, the scallops & risotto, the pork tenderloin (my son devoured it!), and the DUCK! Oh, the duck was DEELISH! Highly recommend.

The best restaurant in Showshoe and one of the all-time best restaurants we've ever visited. Love and respect the true farm-to-table scratch kitchen. You can absolutely taste the difference. Everything we had was nothing short of exquisite, and items we haven't had elsewhere, and we're big foodies who travel extensively. The fish eggs in the salad were superb with a texture and crunch like no other. For a mountain location, the lobster was clean and sweet. The lentil loaf, my goodness, amazing. Better than most meatloaf I've ever had. The sauces! đŸ€€ The trout appetizer, delicious. The duck was perfectly cooked and the accompaniment as far as additions and sauces, all natural and perfectly paired; beyond yummy. A meal to remember. If we had time, we would have gone back the very next night.

This was our first time coming to Appalachian Kitchen but certainly will not be our last. I took my girlfriend to Snowshoe to propose to her and in preparation I called the restaurant to see if I could arrange to make the event special. The manager and wait staff went well and above out of their way to coordinate with me. They sat us right in front of the fireplace, played our song over the radio, filmed the occasion for us, and even presented us with champagne! If I could give 10 stars for service I would! Shout out Isabella! On top of that, the food was amazing. My girlfriend got the wild boar stuff quail and would highly recommend! Overall we cannot wait to come back to Appalachian Kitchen.
by the way, she said yes!

Order whatever you want, but 3 out of 3 times (over 3 years) they were out of everything I ordered except steaks. 10 Prime is cheaper and tastier - go there, seriously, this restaurant has issues they need to fix (first is the menu that they continually run out of). Frozen desserts after waiting 30 mins. Wait staff is great, I feel for them. Fix it Snowshoe, it’s not good enough. We easily spend several hundred dollars for a party of 6 and it’s just lacking. The only thing that brings us back is our great group of friends and the restaurant location is amazing.

AK is one of our favorites! Every item we order on the menu from appetizers, to soup and salad, to the main course and dessert is delicious! My son loves the filet on the kids menu and asks to go back every day to order it again. We always bring friends or family along each year we go and everyone raves about the food.

One of the best meals I have ever had! And I dont say that lightly. Our server was sweet and attentive. Our drinks were delicious. The calamari was the absolute best Ive had. Not rubbery at all, the sauce was soo good. The trout was so incredibly fresh and the pork chop was so juicy and tender with an amazing glaze. The apple pie dessert with cinnamon ice cream really capped this near perfect meal. Good job Appalachia Kitchen!! ?????

I mistakenly had dinner last Monday night, and it was a joke. My brother and I were asked to wait to be seated and when we were it was in an empty dinning room. The server was nice but had never done the job before and the manager didn't care. My lobster bisque arived before my beer, but the whole experience was pretty tolerable right up to the point where they began setting the table right next to us for the final and only other table of the night. When I asked why would you do this, and why did you make us wait to be seated the response was "I didn't want to sweep that section." After that my brother didn't feel comfortable eating there and we went upstairs were we at out $50 steaks and were charged full price for this ridiculous experience.

Things unraveled right away. We had a 6:30 PM reservation, arrived on time and were told our table wasn’t ready. We were seated 5 minutes later and waited another 10+ minutes for a server (not even an acknowledgement from the 1/2 dozen staff — including the hostess — that passed our table in a mostly empty restaurant). My girlfriend finally mentioned something to the hostess and received an eye roll for inquiring. Seriously. The hilarity continued when we tried to order a bottle of wine. The QR code/web site for the wine list was down. Great, how about a printed list? Sorry, don’t have one. So after a bit of Q&A we just picked a bottle of the Cab they sell by the glass (the only by the glass red on the menu) but for some reason the price was now $14 more than the price on the menu.Bread (yeast rolls) were served and they were actually quite good, although the butter was served in a plastic Dixie cup. Next was the lamb confit cabbage roll and it was unremarkable. The roasted beet salad was delicious - fresh, perfectly seasoned. Entrees were also very good (although they were served while we were still eating our salad). My girlfriend had beef tenderloin and it was perfectly prepared. I had elk osso buco and it was room temperature and a little dry (figured it might be since the meat is so lean) but it was really flavorful and the ‘blood grits’ were the best I’ve ever had. The only downside was the accompanying Brussels sprouts were ridiculously over-salted.Food overall was B+Front of house was F (total failure with the exception of the food runners who seemed to be the only personable, conscientious staff)

The food is usually amazing but this time it was not it. Perhaps it was the day or perhaps it was the chef but the combinations weren’t good and some of the food was cold.

Great place to enjoy a meal after a long day of skiing. My pork chop was very tender, juicy, and had a great spicy glaze on top. We ordered the carrot cake for dessert and it was enough to feed 5 people and tasted great too! I give it 4 stars because the lobster bisque contains no lobster chucks in it despite the menu stating “Maine lobster” . It is more of a cream of lobster soup.
