Leaving an early Thanksgiving gathering with the family, we figured—why head straight home? A quick Google search led us to a spot we hadn’t tried before, and this little winery happened to be open on an unseasonably warm November day.
The moment we stepped inside, there was this great energy from the other guests, but before long it felt like it was just us and the owner, Teresa. Not only were the wines exactly what we wanted—hand-bottled by Teresa and her daughter—but the entire experience was something special, both inside the tasting room and out on the property.
The views here are absolutely stunning. I can only imagine how incredible the sunsets must be in the summer months. And Teresa’s story? Truly remarkable. You can feel the heart she pours into her work, and it shows in every glass.
Even though it’s a little off the beaten path—not exactly right off I-79—it’s well worth the climb up the hill to support a locally owned business doing things the right way: great wines and even better hospitality.
We cannot wait to come back.

She was welcoming and friendly and took the time to walk me through her lovely wines and provided other WV recommendations. The property is beautiful and I cannot wait to visit again!

Chestnut Ridge Winery is up on a hill in Spencer WV. It is absolutely beautiful! The landscape is beautiful with shrubs flowers and amazing walkways. There is several trails if you into a nice walk in the woods. The winery itself is a beautiful building and inside is set up with seating so you can set and enjoy some nice wine. Teresa is the wonderful host of the winery. They have a great variety of wine and are always coming up with something different. You won't be disappointed!

We have been to Chestnut Ridge numerous times and they never disappoint. A wide variety of exceptional wines from semi-sweet to dry reds. A beautiful setting as well. Highly recommended.
