The food is great! When you can order, that is. If you call to place an order, 75% of the time you can expect to be told that they cannot take any other orders for either several hours or the rest of the night. We often try to place our order within the first hour or two hours of them opening, to give them every chance at success. The food is great and the demand is obviously there, but this lack of ability to meet demand has been a months-long occurrence and deters us from recommending this business to others.
Super cute place and very quiet and relaxing. I was driving a solo trip from Illinois to Virginia and booked the Lake Room. Felt very safe!

I stayed at the hotel with a Sunday check outl. I left an item there and understand that it was my fault. However, what is not my fault was the unprofessional attitude, complete disrespect, and lack of communication with how I was treated by hotel staff. I wanted additional information about if found but was hung up on. Called back twice with no answer. This in addition to email, voicemail message, and six other phone calls trying to get into contact with someone.
Quaint little place with nice suites along the Elk River. The grounds were welcoming, and the staff was friendly

We stumbled upon this place while out visiting Gassaway WV. We absolutely loved it. The food was incredible. I had the summer salad with grilled salmon. I am looking forward to booking a stay or even an event in the future. Maybe a wedding in my near future. I highly recommend!
Random roadtrip WV and Sutton was a great central destination. The best part was staying at the Elk River Hotel & Cafe.
JIll and her team do amazingly well at providing hospitality & and making you feel like you're already home.
This historic destination is charming, welcoming and continuing to become the go to place of Sutton.

We absolutely loved our stay in the sycamore glamping dome. Super clean and so adorable. Right on the river and next to a really cool old bridge. We had dinner and breakfast at the cafe and the food was great! We would definitely recommend staying here again.

This is our 4th time staying at the Air B&B and have nothing bad to say about our stay or the food and service we have gotten in the cafe. Staff is very friendly and will take care of anything you need, all you have to do is ask and they will restock whatever you need. If you coffee jar in your room is empty they will refill it for you.. I will be back again and again.
Rooms: Clean and stocked with bath supplies and the rooms have coffee
Nearby activities: You have the Elk River close by, and the Dam is close by too
Walkability: The town of Sutton is a great place to walk around
Food and drinks: Cafe has great food and drinks

It felt like staying in a Japanese pension where the restaurant and hotel are combined. The food was delicious and it was a quiet place where you could hear the sound of the river.

The Elk River Inn and Cafe is by far an unexpected gem and a respite from a long days’ drive. First… my reservation was confirmed for last week, my stomach sank since we were tired, hungry and looking forward to this lovely property. Jill, the manager, assured us we would be accommodated without additional charge. Thank you Jill, thanks a squabillion! Our lovely room overlooked the gorgeous garden, had a peek of the river and a great view of the “glamping domes!” (On my next visit - I will be reserving one of these stunning units!) our room could not be more comfy, well-appointed and with an AC perfect on this killer hot day.
Dinner at the cafe was scrumptious… if the watermelon/feta/balsamic salad is on the menu, you will be remiss if you fail to order this refreshing, perfect blend of flavors. Our pan seared salmon had just the right amount of seasoning, kudos to the chef! Loved the creamy texture of the rice pilaf… but before I stop raving about this experience - we fell in love with our server, Chasity, whose own story truly left us full of joy knowing there are continue to be young people who set goals, work hard and accomplish their dreams! The Elk River Hotel and Cafe is worth the drive! When you stop, tell Jill and Chasity that Thelma and Louise say “hi!”

After a traumatic experience at microtel, elk river hotel was very accommodating and welcoming. Took care of us and spoke to us like real people. Great folks, great place, 10/10.

Stayed here for a night while on a road trip to see the eclipse in 2024. It was like being a guest in a grand old Victorian house/mansion. My room (the "oak room" I believe) was very comfortable with an amazing bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The proprietor was very attentive, dinner was great (I had the bison burger and some local beers), and the river-front grounds were beautiful. This was a short stop for me but I would definitely return with family/friends for a long weekend.

A beautiful place, far enough off the beaten path to be isolated. Great staff, amazing food (both dinner and breakfast!) Quiet, peaceful, friendly. Can't recommend it enough!
