Service was fine, can't complain. But a buffet doesn't need much service. Went there a lot growing up and went once again. In recent years every time I've went I swore I'd not go back. This time I think I mean it for real. Ate the dinner buffet. The food is edible but that's all it is. And I'll eat darn near anything. Total greasy spoon quality food. Love the food service mac n cheese but that was the only thing there that was any good. Buffet was also sloppy and poorly maintained. Worst part about it is it was 42 dollars and change for 2 people to eat. We coulda had fresher/better prepared higher quality food anywhere else in town and got just as full for less money. They had little steaks on the buffet, which had a sear on one side but were basically soaking in hot water. Edible but not great. Had baked potatoes that were seasoned well but cooked to heck. Tough as leather except in the very center. Fried chicken that was greasy and seemed like it had been under the hot lamp all day. Same with their desert bar. Had a dish that has been common there for years with bananas in a strawberry sauce. But it seemed like it had been sitting out all day. Just tasted like old bananas. When I was a kid it was always fresh and delicious. Can't go wrong with the food service mac n cheese though. I'd eat that stuff out of a shoe. Overall the food is food, and it's cooked. That's about all there is to say. Some stuff is alright or decent but a lot of it is something that I'd feed to the hogs if it was in my kitchen.

I am sorry to say that the food selection is very minimal. The food wasn't very good either, and the soda had a strong taste of chlorine.
i stopped there for the late lunch on the way back to PA. i had the buffet. there were lots of options and the price is reasonable. i don't know why they put the hotdogs in the baked beans. i'd enjoy just the plain hot dog cuz i don't like baked beans in general. burgers, baked fish and fried chicken were good. i loved the dessert bar and ice cream the most.
Kid-friendliness: yes it is kid friendly. there are claw machines and lots of stuffed animals to purchase too.

I am working in Summersville and ate at the Shoneys there a couple of times. It is like night and day compared to the Shoneys in Flatwoods. The bar at Flatwoods was well stocked with all of the food, service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean. I wish the manager at the Flatwoods Shoneys would make a trip to Summersville restaurant and show them how a restaurant is supposed to be run.

Our first time at Shoney's. The buffet was tempting but we wanted omelets today. Everything was perfect....the food, the service and atmosphere. And the coffee!! My favorite thing: the biscuits! Being from the Northeast, it's usually toast or English. Nice treat!

We stopped here for three reasons: Nostalgia, Breakfast Foods and the Buffet
What We Ate:
Make your own omelette (cheese, sausage and mushrooms)
Country Potatoes
Buffet (only buffet salad pictured)
Thoughts on Shoney's:
Our waitress was helpful and knowledgeable. How do they memorize all of those food options? Secret Superpower? ?
Buffet offered multiple selections for those who love "home-cooked" meals.
The omelette was massive and possibly had too much sausage. Is that even possible? I'm not sure.
Country potatoes were perfectly crispy.
The bathrooms did need a visit from the cleaning fairies ?♂️?♀️
