Let me start by saying I never right bad reviews but this experience put me rightbiver the edge! We checked in hotel and were looking for a local restaurant to eat after a stressful drive in. We were starving and were recommended to Char House by hotel staff... We arrived to restaurant around 6:30 pm, there were several other tables but I wouldn't say it was busy.... We were seated right away and sat for 20 minutes with no one even acknowledging us! No waters, no "server will be right there"..... 4 tables were sat after us and started receiving drinks and appetizers. We made eye contact with several employees who just walked right by us. We had a hungry 6 year old with us and finally after 20 mins we walked out... Hostess on our way our told us to have a nice night.... Maybe it was because we weren't dressed up or something but we were on vacation and ready to spend some good money at the establishment.... Suggest to staff to not judge a book by it's cover if that is what happened!
Waited 10 mins to be greeted. Waitress was apologetic but had no personality. Crazy how servers expect at least a 20% tip but can’t even ask how your day’s going. The atmosphere was not good — it was super cold and really loud for how empty the restaurant seemed at the time. Was super confused because I had to park across the street in 25 degree weather. They really should have a crosswalk put in if their lot fills that fast because cars drive very fast on that road. Waitress did not disclose that the sides we got (onion rings and side salad) were an upcharge (4 and 5 dollars each). The menu seemed to indicate that the sandwiches included those sides in the price. The portion sizes were good but the food was mediocre. All we got were 2 iced teas and 2 sandwiches and our tab was $60 with standard tip. Not worth the money whatsoever. I will never recommend this place.

I came here for the first time with mother and two brothers about a week ago after doing some Christmas shopping. My brother eats out a lot and has been here before and was insistent.
The atmosphere was fine. I'm not a fan of being in a room that dark to eat but I understand that some people do and that's the atmosphere they were going for. We all have different preferences and in not going to hold anyone accountable for having different taste than me. Our table was super wobbly which did such because my mother and I both got soup and it made it hard to not spill it everywhere.
She had the stuffed pepper daily soup special. I had french onion. She said hers was very good and hot. Mine was good but room temperature.
They all ordered burgers of some variation, all cooker well. First of all, one star rating on my family's poor taste on how to prepare food. The restaurant should have called the police and had them arrested for public embarrassment. I don't know how well they enjoyed their overcooked jerky sandwiches. I didn't ask. I was too offended by order to engage in their deviance.
I ordered the Mexican street corn pizza. It was decent. Nothing to go crazy over. It didn't come with the sauce on it, which in fairness, the menu said optional. I had never been there before and just ordered it, assuming the server would prompt me on anything. She didn't. I didn't speak up either as she grabbed my menu and turned around.
The staff all seemed friendly. At least those were interacted with which was just our server and the hostess. Unfortunately the server wasn't very attentive. We waited a good while for our order to be taken, to be checked on and even longer for the check. There were only about half a dozen tables with customers in viewing distance, and I saw multiple servers. I don't know what goes on elsewhere, however.
All in all, it wasn't my favorite experience but it sure wasn't my worst. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. I don't live near by, so I wouldn't make that kind of drive unless it was in my top choices, anyway. If I was with my extended family again and they wanted to go, would I put up a fight? No.

Business lunch with co-workers. It was a nice day so we ate outside on the patio. Very nice restaurant. Portions were large and all of us enjoyed our meals. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Looking forward to eating here again with my wife.

Wedding rehersal dinner was fabulous! From the first phone call to the end of dinner I could not have asked for a more. They set up the private room and the food was perfect. I highly recommend!

Solid taplist, fantastic food, great service, all for less than expected. Would definitely go back if we're ever in the area again. Lots of interesting pizzas to choose from as well. We really enjoyed the Peppadew Pie. Also had the Pear Salad and the Southwestern Spring Rolls and they were both excellent as well.

We’ve been coming here since they opened and it’s always been one of our favorite spots. The food is fantastic and the staff is always kind and friendly. Whether we stop in for a drink at the bar or have dinner with the entire family the char house is always welcoming. I don’t think we’ve ever ordered something that we haven’t liked. 10/10 recommend!

The atmosphere is really cool. Love all the decor. The waite staff was very attentive and nice. The food was so good. Our table had the onion soup, many compliments. Below you see a picture of the side salad with an amazing dressing, caramelized onion. The dressing was so good and unique we took 2 quarts home. I had the turkey Reuben with a side of onion rings, well made. They also have a whole slew of dinner salads. Great restaurant we will definitely drive the 1.5 hours to eat here again.

Probably our favorite restaurant in Wheeling. Love the Hummus, salads, pizza, burgers, and the Pork Chop (it's very good). But the absolute best is the Brown Butter Cake dessert...it's so amazing, we get it every time!! However, I do not recommend getting a steak here...they are good but overpriced ($65 for the coffee rubbed filet) as this isn't downtown Pittsburgh. Parking lot could use some work

I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger
(cooked medium) and "pommes frites" (eyeroll). The burger was way overcooked and the fries were undercooked and limp, with black spots throughout the potatoes. I ate my dull, grey burger to the sound of early 90's female R&B (which was the best part). Service was slow despite not being very busy. Would not recommend.

The food was yummy, especially the Pork Onion Rings appetizer. The restaurant is decorated beautiful and the waitress was sweet, however, my boyfriend's burger was over cooked and the fries were undercooked. We also waited a long time to be asked for to go bowls and if we were ready for the check. Overall, would go again.
