They were 12 hours way from closing for 6 months. Everything was less than previous visits. The lodge is now undergoing major construction which we would have appreciated some notice in advance and reserved accordingly.

totally love our annual trip to Oglebay. Only downside is the floor is a bit slippery where the buffet is set up. Being I am normally in heels I usually opt out but I also prefer being served at dinner. Views are tremendouse and otherwise always a stellar experience!

We did the Holiday Buffet and compared to the menu prices, it was a good deal. Although the foods listed on the menu for that day was not what they had served. Kind of disappointing. Also the quality was average, the pork loin was like shoe leather.

The food and Christmas Spirit were both flowing. The food was fabulous and appreciated all the options. Everything from location, ambiance, service to strolling around after dinner was perfection. Made wonderful memories.

We've spent the last two Christmas's at Oglebay, the Christmas Buffet has been excellent both years! The staff are the best aspect of our visit, always pleasant and polite. Looking forward to next year!

We go to Oglebay for Christmas every year and look forward to Christmas Eve dinner at the Ihlenfeld Dining Room all year long. The food is wonderful & the service is alway outstanding.

Was a bit disappointed in our dining experience. Prices indicate an upscale meal but but it was not as expected. Buffet was OK...was not presented with any flair or design. Felt the warmers were set on the table and left without any graciousness. There were no tablecloths on the table. Space seemed big and bare. Area needs an update! If Oglebay wants a fine dining restaurant they're going to have to step up their game.
We come every year. This year the food was great! We had a wonderful window seat and my granddaughter loved seeing the lights during dinner. The kids buffet was really great too!! Home made applesauce and Mac and cheese were a hit!!
The dishes were delicious, however for the price there was not a lot of variety. The prime rib was very rare and no one in our party preferred it. The dessert options were very dry-had the taste of not being freshly made. Service was outstanding, ambience stunning and the dining experience itself was delightful. We return every Christmas and will continue to do so. There was also quite an issue with parking. Not sure how this could have been corrected. We luckily found a spot with someone pulling out but others in our party had to keep circling due to so many spaces lost to the slip.

A lovely dinner! The view is always beautiful and the food was all so good! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I will say the prices seemed high - especially considering that no sides are included with the grilled steaks and fish. But that's pretty typical in the restaurant world these days.

It was quiet and reserved for a nice dinner. The food although tasty wasn't anything outstanding. Only 2 choices of salad dressing and minimal toppings. Several selections for entrees, a few sides and quite an array of dessert choices. The main issue was nothing, but the kids Mac and cheese, was HOT. All very luke warm/room temperature. Our server seemed overwhelmed so we received very little attention. The plates piled up and we never had our waters refilled. Didn't offer coffee so we had to flag him down and ask. Then as we were finishing up, we saw a table next to us with food choices that weren't even presented when we dined. It doesn't pay to get there when they first start seating because they aren't fully prepared. Very disappointing for what was a special occasion for us.

Oglebay is a diamond in the rough & the Ohio Valley is so very blessed to have it. Ihlenfeld dining as well as the park itself was a wonderful experience last night. Congrats to Erik's & his entire staff!

Lovely room but seated in the brightest station adjacent to server station. The buffet option took up seating area. Might try again when the Festival of Lights isn't attracting so many customers who aren't staying at the resort So much holiday traffic that the ambiance was impacted.
