We heard that there was a Sunday Brunch with a Carving Station so we came up from Colorado right away! It was delicious! The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly! They also had creamy horseradish and regular horseradish to go with it! Real Mashed Potatoes, not the boxed kind. The salad station was fresh! Even with being landlocked they offered Large Shrimp Cocktail and believe it or not fresh Ceviche!

Room was infested with ants, food was less seasoned and more overcooked than a cheap nursing home, twenty dollars for a double crown and coke, Safe didn't work. It was sad and bad. Never again.
The Salem Diner offers a mixed dining experience. While the food is generally good, some meals like the prime rib have been noted to be almost all fat or inedible, and the dessert is reported to be mediocre at best. The service can be slow, with recent experiences highlighting issues such as new waitstaff who were not adequately trained. Some guests have reported receiving the wrong drinks and having to get their own silverware, though the service staff remains friendly.
The diner is known for its Hathaway's buffets and holiday events, which are described as superb, featuring a great food selection and an elegant but not stuffy ambiance. The Sunday brunch offers a wide selection of food and includes a mimosa/Bloody Mary bar, with made-to-order omelets and a carving station for $40 per person. Recently, visitors from Colorado enjoyed the Sunday Brunch with a Carving Station, describing it as delicious. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly, served with creamy and regular horseradish, and complemented by real mashed potatoes. The salad station was fresh, and even with the landlocked location, they offered large shrimp cocktail and fresh ceviche. The desserts were good, and at $34.99 per person, it was considered a great deal, especially since kids ate for free. Many visitors have praised the restaurant for its excellent food, atmosphere, reasonable prices, and outstanding service, especially after COVID.
However, some meals like the ribs have been overcooked and dry, and the variety at the sides buffet has been described as average, comparable to low-end chain restaurants but at nearly twice the price. Despite these inconsistencies, the overall experience can be pleasant, particularly when seated in sections with attentive staff.
