I was threatened with Police.
So the atmosphere was not bad the waitress was friendly. The food (Chicken Enchiladas) however was not good in my opinion. It was below average for Mexican food. I honestly only ate about 10% of the food as I was tasting, beans were very runny and flavorless, the green salsa was watery and flavorless, I bit into pieces of chicken bone, the chicken itself was very dry. I've had worse but at least I didn't get threatened with getting the cops on me. I travel a lot for work and in many states if you don't like the food and you've only taken a few bites the kitchen usually tries to correct it by offering something else or not charging for what Little you actually ate. I politely told the waitress that I didn't like the food and then I only would pay for the drink since no where near enough was consumed (literally 10% or less).
The manager came over and vas very upset it was almost as if I personally offended her. She threatened to call the cops. I'm here for work and not for drama so I politely paid anyways.
I've never had such a terrible dining experience in my life. I cannot recommend this place. Everyone except for this lady seemed friendly and cheerful. Maybe she was just having a bad day, God bless her.

Good food, they took forever to take the order and even more time to get my food, the Cuban Torta was good except for the meat that was overcooked, the gorditas, rice and. Beans were delicious,

I'm from Mexico City, and I really recommend this shrimp broth; it's good. The staff is very attentive, and they have Pacifico and Modelo draft beer.

This restaurant was recommended to us by Brenda at Elk’s Refuge and we are so glad we took her advice. If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, then look no further than the El Metate for the place to dine. For us, this restaurant was a gastronomic delight. The food here was fantastic, generous portions, served hot and in a timely manner. The staff members were all wonderful and took care of us with a friendly smile. Just beware, parking can be a bit of a problem, especially during the peak season. We were there at the end of September and the streets were still packed.

I got an enchilada plate with some refried beans and a side of chips and queso. Both the queso and beans were LIQUID. They also only gave me a ridiculously small container of chips. Super upset with the lack of quality here, this was absolutely disgusting. This is the second time this has happened

Great, authentic Mexican food in Jackson Hole! Everything we tried was delicious, and the menu had several unique dishes I’d never seen before. I’m already looking forward to coming back to try more. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the prices were very reasonable. There is plenty of seating.

Authentic Mexican that deserves the recommendation! I ordered the Pozole (special of the day) and it was probably the best I've had in years compared to countless other places. We also ordered the goritas and the sope. You will not leave hungry. Service was amazing, friendly and helpful. This place deserves a 5 star review.

Right in the heart but feels small and local. Pretty authentic at great prices for its location. I got a large steak burrito for $14! Try to beat that on the strip. And it came with all the sauces and fixings you could really want. A huge beer for $7 too.

The foods really good…we work at the airport and come in to eat all the time. However the service sucks big time, especially from the little white looking European busser guy. We know he’s been working for them from the time they were near China town and their service has always been horrible.

I tried the tampanquilla plate and it did not disappoint. The verde chicken enchiladas were fresh and slightly spicy. Hearty. The beans, rice and cheese was very tasty and the asada steak had a lemony marinade. I'd recommend this plate.
