We were looking forward to dining here. It appeared to be an oasis amongst the ubiquitous slab of meat restaurants we were coming up against. We made email reservations that were confirmed. Our GPS had great difficulty in locating the restaurant for some reason but it might have been down to road closures. We decided to return to our hotel and see if reception could help us. They knew of the restaurant and proceeded to describe how to get there. We drew a little map but then the receptionist said we should look at the map on her computer to get a better idea. She seemed not to be able to print from it though. On the map, it noted that Birch was temporarily closed despite us having a confirmed reservation for that evening. The receptionist said she'd phone them up. She got a recorded message saying there was a kitchen malfunction and they'd had to close. We were quite cross at this. Okay these things can happen but for the restaurant not to have the courtesy of getting in touch with confirmed diners to at least let them know of the situation is poor. They never even bothered to get in touch after the event either - no customer consideration. The receptionist thought this bad practice too but went on to recommend an alternative restaurant which wasn't too bad.
This venue is memorable. Service was very good. The food was excellent and had unique dishes. My rating for Birch is 4.6.
We stopped in Sheridan for massage after driving so much from TN. Birch caught our attention, needing a nice meal and looking for something delicious and a place to feel relaxed before driving again.Birch did not disappoint. Wow, this place exists in this town we've never heard of before. Unexpected. Relaxing. Feels like fine dining experience. What we ordered: potato soup, hamachi sashimi, egg yolk pappardelle and burger. We loved everything except the burger. Burger, meat was a little dried and bun was cold and dry tasting, just didn't taste like it was made from the same kitchen. I'm not a potato soup person, but they convinced me! Sashimi, delicious - reminds us of Uchi Austin, great ceviche - would order lots more. Papardelle, hands down better than any pasta I've ever had. Caveat, we haven't had a great meal in fa few days.Besides the great meal at a small-town fine dining experience and cost, their first day on the job, Nick the Bartender, had some awesome mocktails. Loved the honey vanilla with orange zest ice coffee (something like that).Overall, highly recommended. Great food. Great experience. Great service.
Very good upscale restaurant in Sheridan WY. Very capable and friendly staff with excellent service. Potato soup and radicchio and endive salad were excellent. Duck 2 ways was very good. A few points off for pappardelle pasta dish served lukewarm, but very good flavor. Wine list very good and reasonable. Would return!
Drinks were amazing, but food was mediocre. Portions could definitely be bigger, and steak could be better prepared.
Our evening was superb! From the fun waitstaff, dreamy atmosphere to the amazing cocktails and incredible food, we had a wonderful time. We will be back and suggest for people to come try if you haven’t already.
The Hawaiian Snapper with rissoto was delicious and the roasted beet was perfection.
So amazing. Most dependable restaurant in town. This is the place to bring your guests!
Really great place I was lucky to find late one night. First off service was amazing. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was delicious. I had three small plates and a main entrée and everything was fantastic. My only advice would be to add one more component to the tuna appetizer. It was just lacking a little depth. Something as simple as using fermented instead of fresh cucumber would make a huge difference. Really good cocktail and beer menu. The tomato fennel whiskey drink was incredible. Honestly one of the top two or three cocktails I’ve ever had in my life. The wine list was actually pretty lame. Small and mostly mass produced American wine Which is fine because that’s what Sells probably, but just adding five more bottles each of old world red and white would go a long way.
Beware! Closed for Covid infection 25-28 August. Call before you you go! At least their voice mail says they’re closed. Better if the web site was updated with warning.

Started out really well. Our appetizers were awesome as was our server. Our reservation was at 6:45. It took over another hour to get our entrees, they weren't even busy. My steak was really good however my husband couldn't even eat his chicken. 220 dollars later the worst experience I've had in a long time.Clearly not the truth in your response. Why would we make this up
Birch is hands down the best restaurant in Sheridan. The revolving menu features creative, beautiful, and tasty dishes. The staff is friendly, prompt, and experienced. Indoor and outdoor seating are both nice. Prices are only slightly more than comparable restaurants in town, and the food is in another league altogether. My only critique is that I wish they were still open for lunch.
Wow, the flavors are amazing! Had the scallops & arancini & they were heaven to my taste buds especially with the flavors of the jam & purée. Husband had the burger that he said was full of flavor. Local beef.
We were staying in Sheridan for a couple of nights and my husband is on Weight Watchers. Because of this, he eats a lot of vegetables and since Birch stated that they are vegetarian friendly, I made a reservation. But our misgivings began with the appetizers. We ordered the charcuterie board, but they served 2 types of cheddar, one hard and one soft (the point of a board is to have a variety of things) with very hard, thick crostini, almost too difficult to chew. Pickles and a few other throwdowns--a strange combo of items. The caprese appetizer was excellent. My daughter's and my entree were fine, but my poor husband received an appetizer plate with spoonfulst of various vegetarian items--gnocci (potatoes are vegetarian, but not good for WW), including a limp dollop of burned broccoli. He complained to the waitress, and she was sympathetic, but perhaps thinking that we didn't really understand how 'high end' they were (We've had wonderful meals all over the country, including Spagos...). The chef did send out another vegetable; grilled asparagus, but it still didn't really negate the vegetable entree he'd received and they charged us full price for his meal. Unfortunately, our conclusion was that perhaps the chef, at least that evening, wasn't trained to a truly stellar level afterall. Very disappointing for a very expensive restaurant...
Possibly the best steak I've ever had. My husband ordered the fillet last night and had to fight me off from eating it all. It was perfectly tender and the ideal medium rare. The garlic chicken had a caramelized crisp skin, yet maintain its tenderness. We finished the meal with a refreshing watermelon sorbet. I also highly recommended the Rebellion and Dapper cocktails. Just be careful, they are generous with the pour. The waitstaff was on point; upbeat, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. Highly recommend. Quite possibly the best restaurant in town as it never disappoints.
