Terrific dining experience! Service was stellar. Guest had trout - cooked to perfection. I had wild boar ragu - unique textures and flavors. We started with a baked brie that was heavenly!
Although our hostess needed manners, our server was fantastic! The Brie and cornbread appetizers were awesome. Hamburgers were good, but not done well enough and the cheese soup wasn't very hot but still delicious. Not sure any of us would return due to prices for what you received. Cool atmosphere though.
Great location and atmosphere, but the food was not very good. The food was over priced for the quality. I heard they got a new chef. Too bad, because my wife and I really liked eating there in the past.
My Mom and I were on a roadtrip through UT, WY and SD and we stayed at the Sheridan INN. We made reservations for the Open Range and I am glad we did because it did get pretty crowded. We had Ethan as our server and he was AMAZING. Attentive when necessary and never hovered or made us feel uncomfortable. He was happy to make suggestions and we were wise to listen. The drinks, dinner and dessert were all delicious and the service was AMAZING!

Our service was poor. First round of beverages served and then no further follow up for another round. Our appetizer dishes sat on the table until our main dishes arrived, which was a long time. When our main dishes arrived it was very obvious they had sat in the kitchen area for a while. The meat was dried out and fries were not hot. Kind of a sad experience.
We greatly enjoyed our dinner at Open Range. The staff was friendly and engaging; the food superb & perfectly prepared. This will be our “go to” the next time we are in Sheridan.
Historic, Historical steak house. Interesting ambiance. But a surprisingly limited menu. Limited wine options, so:so beer options. Few entree options but flexible with substitutions. One dessert! Great service. Will go back for the right event, right reason.

The dinner was fantastic and so was the service and the restaurant decor. We will be back.
Disappointed. We've lived in Sheridan for awhile now. So, tonight for our anniversary, we decided to finally try Open Range at the historic Sheridan Inn.
The hostess seated us and stated the wait staff was busy with a banquet. Well, 10 to 15 minutes later without any service and zero acknowledgement from the staff, we walked out!
Lovely dining room and bar. If you have to wait so long for a drink order to be taken, what are the chances your meals will be served while hot and most appealing?

Food and service were fantastic. Location is in the beautiful old Sheridan Inn. Look forward to one day returning.

We were celebrating our son's engagement and chose Open Range because it has a reputation for serving wonderful food. Service okay, water served warm. The food had literally no flavor. We had a party of 4 and ordered--trout, filet mignon, Pork Chops. Our meal ended up costing > $200. We will not make this mistake again.
The food was great and cooked perfectly. The waitress never came to check on us so my husband had to wave at her to get her to come to our table so he could ask for a glass of wine to drink with his steak. The waitress was then making comments to another customer sitting at the bar about how she was “waved down for a glass of wine” and everyone seated at the tables and bar could hear her passive aggressively complaining. This is very unprofessional behavior for what is supposed to be a higher scale restaurant. I tried to have a discussion with her regarding her professionalism and she was very passive about her comments and unaccountable for the dining experience she provided.

This is my second time here. The food is decent but nothing to rave about. I love the bar and I think the ambience is nice in that historic building. Service is good. Wine voices are very good.
Ben, our server, was attentive and professional! Tournedos and Trout were excellent. Shrimp Orecchiette was disappointing - too much pasta and five small and over cooked shrimp.
