Desert Bar is a charming dive bar that's been around for over 42 years, offering a unique experience. It's the only bar in town, within walking distance from Love's Travel Stop, and operates on a cash-only basis. Expect a laid-back atmosphere, great people, and a welcome break from driving. The place has a real old school, hometown feel, with a nostalgic vibe reminiscent of a 60’s-70’s industrial town’s watering hole. It is big enough for 70-80 people and is very clean. The bartender, John, is friendly and personable, making every visit enjoyable. The beer was ice cold, mostly in bottles, with a decent selection of liquor on the premises. The pool table, though slightly run down, played well enough for fun, especially while listening to some songs on the jukebox. While it doesn’t serve gourmet food, there is acceptable food at the bar. Overall, Desert Bar is a true old school spot that should be kept alive, helping maintain its place as a local watering hole for many more years.
