I am exploring unpopulated areas on google maps. I have never been but I am always down to support a small business with a positive review. Go USA.

10/10 would recommend. If you're passing through and want to stop in, it's a true old school bar that should be kept alive. The bartender (John) was friendly and helpful. The beer was ice cold (no taps, bottle only, but that suits me fine) and a decent selection of liquor on the premises. The pool table, although perhaps slightly run down, played well enough to enjoy and have a good time while playing some songs on the jukebox. If you're in the area and want to enjoy the local watering hole, this is the place. Let's help keep an old school bar where it belongs. Here's to the Desert Bar remaining a staple of the area for many more years to come.

This place is a trip. Absolutely old school, home town feel, even if you're not from the area. John is a fantastic, personable bartender and I enjoyed every minute that I was there. Can't wait to swing through Wamsutter again and mosey on down.

Great old nostalgic place, very clean, old bar reminiscent of a 60’s -70’s industrial town’s watering hole. Big enough for 70-80 people. Same owner, woman-owned, 45-50 years (?) Don’t come for gourmet food, but there’s acceptable food at the bar

We stopped in Wamsutter, WY on our way back east to camp in our RV for the night. Checked out the Desert Bar and was lucky to have John bartender for us! He was friendly, funny, fun to chat with and he cared that our drinks were made to our liking. The bar has one pool table that seemed like it was in decent shape to hit a few. There’s a jukebox and a pretty varied selection of liquors, if maybe not so many mixers. It’s more like a tavern and smoking is still allowed. I don’t smoke anymore, but my hair and jacket still smell of smoke the next day even though no one was smoking while we were in there. It was worth the visit though. A great experience to meet John and check out this last bar standing in the area.

John is a fantastic bartender. It's too bad there isn't a sign up on the interstate advertising this wonderful bar. The bar has been here for 42 years or more, charming.
