“Was craving some Teriyaki, and my favorite spot recently closed down. Yelp to the rescue! Found this place, drove down and ordered a large chicken bowl and a medium beef bowl. Took about 15 minutes to get my order. How was it? Beef Bowl- Bomb! Beef, green onions and sticky rice. I ordered an extra teriyaki sauce (each bowl comes with one) and poured it on. Really tasty! Great char grilled beef, and perfect rice. Not too sweet....absolutely delicious! Chicken Bowl- Same as the beef, but with char grilled chicken. So damn good. One of the best teriyaki bowls I have had in LA! Service was friendly as can be! Will definitely be back once a teriyaki craving hits! This will be my new spot for teriyaki in the South Bay!“

“Fast food version of Japanese meal. I like the price and convenience. However, the taste wasn't good, and the atmosphere was dark and small. I recommend that if you want something little better than mcdonalds or Burger King. But I recommend you to go to real dine in restaurants if possible.“

“Im so glad I finally discovered Yama! I am in love with the Yama special California roll - I’m disappointed to see that it’s not available to order separately on Door dash - Please add it there! The only thing I haven’t loved so far was the unagi roll, it had a rubbery texture. Maybe I just was unlucky with that one. Overall really good sushi! I also love the rest of the market with the Japanese gifts :)“

“I recently took my lunch break at Guzzu Bento-ya, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I opted for their Hayashi Rice, a flavorful twist on Japanese beef stew, and it instantly became my new favorite comfort food, especially in the chilly weather. The braised tender beef, onions, and mushrooms melded together perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The space was cozy and perfect to do some work. I love how they have anime playing on the projector.Beyond their renowned bento boxes, Guzzu Bento-ya impressed me with their new salads and stews, each bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly accommodating, offering spot-on recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Whether you're craving a classic bento box or eager to explore their latest offerings, Guzzu Bento-ya is sure to exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!5/5“

“Absolutely loved this experience. Thank you for this wonderful comfortable dinner. It’s exactly what I love. The restaurant is not big which I liked because it felt cozy and not super crowded. Non of the courses specifically stood out but everything was perfect. Service was absolutely incredible, always caring and super friendly. Loved how they kept giving extra courses and even adding a lovely Polaroid picture at the end. It’s crazy how they even thank us again by sending a letter to my address. Loved it and LOVED IT. Just go“

“My go-to place for sushi when I happen to be in LA. There are no reservations, so you typically have to wait, but for not a lot of time. They have the right match of service people to tables and their system works well. The fish is always fresh and the tip is a flat rate on the bill at 16%. It’s a pretty small place, so probably not good for groups larger than 6 or with picky eaters (this is a sushi restaurant and doesn’t have too much else). The only ding is the their app sometimes calls you for your table too early and you have to wait in the restaurant before they call you back up.“

“Fresh sushi at a reasonable price. We were travelling to the LA area from Ontario, Canada and were eager to try sushi in California. This place popped up on our radar and did not disappoint. The sushi is super fresh, great quality, customer service is very attentive and food came promptly. You can tell this place is busy and for good reason!Parking: We were able to get a spot in the parking lot where this place is situated in the mall.“

“First time visiting and we had the omakase. The staff welcomed us like they have known us for years as soon as we walked in. The service throughout the omakase was amazing and the sushi was the best weve had since visiting Japan! Toshisan is passionate and friendly. Cant wait to go back asap! I wish I could keep Toshi Sushi to myself and not tell anyone about it, but they deserve to be successful so I chose to write this review. We are incredibly lucky to have sushi of this quality, at s reasonable price, and in Gardena no less. If you're reading this, dont think about it any longer and just go.“

“I wanted to let you know about our recent dining experience at Irori Shushi. Jess was our waitress, and I must say that she provided exceptional service. Not only was she attentive and friendly, but her recommendations for our meal were outstanding. Every dish she suggested was absolutely delicious. I wanted to take a moment to commend Jess for her professionalism and expertise. She truly made our dining experience memorable and enjoyable. Her knowledge of the menu and her ability to make recommendations based on our preferences was impressive. In light of our positive experience with Jess, I wanted to share my recommendation with you. If anyone ever asks me if they should come to your restaurant for sushi, I will definitely tell them to ask for Jess. She made a significant impact on our dining experience, and I believe she is a valuable asset to your team. Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back in the future.“

“Great quick style sushi hand roll place. Had to wait in line about 45 minutes which I don't mind but it would have been nice to have been able to order a drink while waiting alcoholic or non even. Not able to until we were seated. The food was really good. Service was also good. But 4 stars as would have been better if drinks offered to purchase while in line. Love the simplicity of the menu.“

“We sat at the communal table and enjoyed looking at the aesthetically pleasing feasts our neighbors ordered! We shared a bento box with fresh sashimi, crispy tempura, and warm side meats served with colorful condiments. Once we placed our name on the waitlist, we enjoyed a stroll until our number was called. The portions are generous, and the atmosphere is friendly, both from guests and servers. Next time, we will order the soups and noodle combinations.“

“This has been our best Omakase experience to date. About an hour before our reservation, we received a call from the restaurant to verify if there were any allergies they needed to be aware of. They also asked if there was anything we absolutely did not want as part of the experience. Once there, we were welcomed by a friendly staff and seated at the bar with the chef Tai. He confirmed about the allergies and preferences. Super thorough!Watching him work was like an artist creating sushi masterpieces. Everything was made with precision and care and were presented so beautifully. Each dish tasted better than the one before. He even convinced us to try the mackerel (which is not a favorite of ours) and it did not disappoint. I mean...some of the pieces just melted in our mouths. Not only were the dishes delicious, Tai was super informative. We almost received sushi education while we were eating. It made the experience even better! And no need for soy sauce or wasabi because Tai takes care of all of that. The ambience of the restaurant was good. But we were enjoying the food and experience so much that we didn't notice the rest of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and really attentive. We never had to ask for refills on our drinks because they just showed up. This is definitely a place we want to come back to!“

“I came here recently on a weekend, and there was a small group of people waiting outside for their orders. It took about 20 minutes but so worth it. We got the beef and chicken curry omusibi. They are filling & well worth the price of $4.95 each. The seaweed is perfectly salted and slightly crispy and they didn't skimp on the meat which I appreciated.“

“You know a spot is good when the only menu displayed has faded photos of various dishes with no descriptions or dish titles. Only the real ones know. Every time I come here, I meet a local who’s been coming here since the 80s or 90s and it is so comforting to know that a place like this exists. Love the food, owner, consistency, quality, and history of this place.Run by one guy and one guy only, make sure to be patient while waiting for your order if it gets packed, maybe clean up the tables around you while you wait. Doesn’t hurt to help.“

“Had such a delicious dinner here. We knew they were known for their soba and tempura and we enjoyed these for sure, but I can’t stop thinking about the Berkshire pork rice dish! I’m looking forward to going back!Parking: Limited free parking lot in the back“

“Super friendly service! After 20 years since my first time, they STILL have $1 salad. Nothing has changed. I love that about this place. It's like a little family. It's very hard for me to pick pasta since i am not familiar with the names, but every time i pick something (always different), it comes out good. Would always come back to this. Plus, there is an ARMY cashier here. IYKYK. ?“

“I wanted to love this hole in the wall Japanese spot. The portions are borderline grotesque large (bang for your buck I guess), but the food itself had some misses. The potato croquettes were pretty good, and the chicken katsu curry generally had a good taste, but the curry itself had chunks of chicken that were so overcooked that I felt like I was chewing dissolving erasers. My friend’s teriyaki chicken was similar in that it tasted good, but was mostly over burned. The staff was hustling and were nice, albeit straight to the point.Vegetarian options: I did see a fair amount of vegetarian option, but meat dishes are definitely more prevalent.“

“it's worth seeking out Kurisaki, probably the best sushi we've had in LA, at least since the 90s when we used to go out to San Bernadino. There's a lot of choice here, delicacies you won't find on menus you might put some blind faith on... The service is super friendly. Next time in LA we will be back.“

“Delicious. Get the Shoujin tsuyu dipping sauce with zaru soba. The spicy sesame was a bit too heavy for me and you don’t get to taste the delicious texture of the soba. There may also be mori soba options that are daily menu options which can also be delicious.Mushroom side dish was very small and was a cold dish - I thought it would be hot. Agesaahi tofu was solid. Karaage was solid.Green tea and soba tea were both great.Ambience is vibey and clean. Service is great. Staff are kind and attentive.Street parking is available.“

“Always a pleasure. The hand rolls are simple yet delicious. In terms of freshness, the fish didn't blow me away, but the overall quality of the rolls is high. “Sushi Island is a great place to eat at! Most of the time, I order takeout and I usually get the same thing every time. I order a combination plate with Japanese style meatballs and sesame chicken. I definitely recommend eating here if you haven't tried it yet. :-)“

“TL;DR Solid (hand and cut) rolls, sashimi and overall experience, no complaints Story: Been here for the second time after about ~6 months. Both times with family, both times seated pretty promptly. Ambiance: Parking hasn't been a problem both times, but the lot only takes ~10 or less cars. Service was adequate as more folks filtered in (cater your expectations to a restaurant with a few waiters) Generally clean (restroom was fine), and I didn't feel uncomfortable with any of the decor/music/lack of anything Food: Definitely solid roll choices, they have other things like teriyaki but can only comment on the fish/rolls Soy paper and rice less options are appreciated I'm all for handrolls and these hand rolls are definitely hefty (Lobster hand roll/Vicky hand rolls were very solid) Rolls were good and fish was relatively fresh (no complaints) Value: Decent value considering the quality of the fish and that it's a sushi roll place, would definitely give this place a chance if you're in the mood for a solid roll (but shout out to those large hand rolls).“

“Been coming here for years and just came here and tried their fried rice and yakisoba special ($14.95). The fried rice was actually shrimp fried rice, although the shrimp were tiny, the flavor was good. The beef yakisoba was flavorful and plentiful, stuffed me up. My little one got the #14, chicken teriyaki with California roll, a staple! If you've never been to Sachi, they are known for their smoked teriyaki. I must say, the smokiness gives this teriyaki a unique umami flavor! The service has always been friendly and helpful. They have three tiny tables inside and some more seating outside. Will be coming back as usual...“

“after a photo shoot in UCLA, a friend recommended us to get our grub at Ramenya in Sawtelle. Had to park on a near street, and had to do a little walk to the shop. wait time is bearable. got a table for four and we were greeted by a welcoming host. we were recommended to get tantan ramen. however, we got more than that-we got daikon salad, shrimp fried rice, and 2 ramens. my favorite was the fried rice-i could eat those everyday. tantan ramen is delicious too. all in all, it was a great visit and a great meal. there will be a next time once we ever get lost in los angeles area.“

“Oishi desu!! (It's delicious) I found this place by just searching for Japanese food near the botanical garden up the street. Needless to say, my search didn't fail me. The omakase meal set was so good!! We went here for Valentine's Day and I made a reservation a week ahead of time, just to be safe, but I don't think it was necessary. I think walk ins were being accepted. We both got the omakase set, one NY steak and one filet mignon. So good! Cooked to perfection. Ending the meal with dessert, we had a wide variety of selection. We got one green tea crème brûlée (WHICH IS SO GOOD! Would come back just for this) and one mango cake, which was also so good, tasting like a gummy. Overall, this place is presentable, and also surprisingly affordable for what you get. I would come back here for a special occasion.“

“This place is a gem, I am so glad to have finally tried their food. There are lots of scrumptious options to choose from and right when I think I've made up my mind on what to get I spot the daily specials board. Mind you I did get in late for dinner so they were mostly sold out of their specials but I did not leave disappointed. The staff is friendly and very attentive, they make you feel like family. The chili is DELICIOUS! I loved it, I even took a pint of it home. Their poke is good, it was marinated with sesame oil and green onions. I also ordered a bento box and the somen salad and brocolli medley were the best parts. Overall a solid place to have a satisfying meal.“
