The Halfway Club is a welcome addition to the Excelsior. While we were bummed when Broken Record closed we are thrilled for the Halfway Club!Came in on a Friday night as a group of 4 for drinks. We were originally planning to get the $13 cocktails but couldn't refuse the $23 pitcher of hazy IPA.... And then took the recommendation of the Mezcal Paloma which was refreshing with great flavor.Service was amazing with great recs, perfect balance of checking in and letting us hang, and sharing offerings. Also, great music at a volume where you can talk but still enjoy. If you live in the Excelsior or are in the area (e.g. soccer games in Crocker Amazon) you need to drop by and support this place. Will be coming to Tuesday trivia and Wednesday movie night ASAP and getting food (which we hear is great!)

A new and very welcome neighborhood bar. The menu is still growing but what is already on there is very, very well prepared. They seem dedicated to adding only items they feel good about serving. The hamburger is terrific. The chicory salad is, too - and I am not a big salad eater. The fish that comes with the fish and chips is the best I have had. Those are all the things I have tried and have had each of them twice. Ethan, partner in the business, also is a super knowledgeable specialist in spirits, cocktails, and wines. He is a veteran in the hospitality business and simply knows his stuff. May even more importantly for a neighborhood pub, he knows how to make all kinds of people welcome while leaving just as much space as each seems to want. Full disclosure: I have no financial interest in the business and I had not met the owners or staff before going there for the first time. I do hope that it will be successful because of their dedication to quality in food and drink ... and because I want to go there regularly. Good luck to Ethan and Gary!

A wonderful neighborhood bar and restaurant. We have tried a few things on the food menu- the burger, salad, fish and chips. All well prepared and delicious. Full bar with a good selection of wine and beer. Friendly staff. All adds up to a great place in the outer, outer Mission.

Expand your SF!!! This place is run by 2 SF industry guys with 50 combined years of experience, not to mention some SF industry heavies that worked to make this place become a reality. Leave your neighborhood and come here. Take the challenge SF. Explore your city. My favorites here are the pimento smash burger (you can add an extra patty and you should). The half chicken with Brussel sprouts and the green goddess crab salad, oh yeah. Crazy delicious cocktails as well! The front is a great bar and the back is ideal for large groups and families. There is also a kick ass fried pork sandwich and hey, a hot dog with old bay chips!!! Free your mind and be the one that recommends and takes your friends and family here first. You'll always be able to say, I found this place!!!!

The perfect bar with amazing bites and drinks. Service is on point and the whole vibe is quirky and friendly. Great for the neighborhood but also worth driving to if you're not in the neighborhood.

A big upgrade from its predecessor the Broken Record (RIP), this spot has fun interiors that are easy on the eye, cool music, delicious food, and super friendly and fast service. We went here for the first time on a rainy weeknight and had a great time. We intend to make the Halfway Club a new habit.

Since my last review, The Halfway Club has been open a little longer, and everything has gotten better. Food we've had before is elevated with lemon zest and other nice touches. Beer has moved from cans to draft+cans, and they've added the holy grail of NorCal draft beer: Old Rasputin correctly served on nitrogen tap. The service is still great, and this is now becoming the fully-formed neighborhood bar that it aspires to be. Well done

The Halfway Club is your favorite new bar in the Excelsior! Taking over the old Broken Record space, they have updated it to have a bit more of a chill neighborhood vibe, with smart riffs on straightforward classics, good homey food, and plenty of space for folks of all ages. Highly recommend you pop in and give it a
