“A new store has opened here! Now it’s Cantonese food + Malatang. The rice rolls look great and taste good. The addition of chopped peanuts is interesting and the portion is not small, but the soy sauce is not very interesting. The spicy hotpot is super delicious, the soup base is very fragrant, and the ingredients are very tasty. I recommend that it be a little spicy.“

“I believe Bay Garden Café is underrated for its authentic Cantonese food and HK café cuisine. Despite being around for over 6+ years, the place doesn't seem as crowded as it used to be. They offer a great selection of Cantonese dishes, and their service is consistently fast. The pricing is very reasonable considering the generous portions of food you receive. The dishes are authentic, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. However, I must deduct one star due to the very dirty restrooms and old glasses/dishware.Quick tips: Parking is available right behind the restaurant, which is shared with other shops in the same plaza. Street parking is also an option. They offer a lunch special from 8 am to 3 pm daily at a very reasonable price. While many people may be drawn to the new Alice’s Kitchen (one of the best HK cafés in the area) across the street, I encourage giving Bay Garden Café a try if you're looking for something different. You might discover something you like even better at Bay Garden Café.“

“Hidden gem of a chinese restaurant that serves great chinese breakfast/lunch items. This place had two very specific items that you do not often find in many chinese restaurants. One which my gf really enjoyed was called needle noodles which are noodles that are short about 2 inches in length and are pointy on both ends. It was nostalgic for her eating those noodles from her childhood which her grandparents made.As for me my nostalgic dish was snails, yes you heard it right. It brings me back to childhood too. Not french escargo, but fresh water snails that has a hard plate in front of the shell that protects them from predators. Of course you would eat it picking out the meat with a toothpick. There very limited amount of meat since part of the body contains sand and baby snail shells so only the small bit between the hard plate and the before the twisty bit is edible. Don't eat the sandy part or the consequent snail baby shells which won't taste food. It was funny hearing the neighboring tables inquire the staff about the snails which I guess makes sense since not a common dish. It's an acquired taste here in the states, but in chinese supermarkets they sell snail noodles that will have the flavor of the snails, but no meat since it's laborious to pick out the meat ergo pricey. Give it a try if you are brave enough! There was quite a bit of left over snails so I brought it home and made prepacked snail noodles with actual snail meat which was great!“

“They are known for their 譚仔阿姐 with her infamously quirky-accented Cantonese, and if you're expecting that, sorry! Service was nice though, just a little rough around the edges with some of the staff. Still not bad, and still professional.Food is decently priced, and not bad. Didn't disappoint at all! I'm glad I tried their house noodles they're famous for ?. The 魚蛋 (fish ball) is not shaped like a ball, more like they just scooped it and then made it in that shape without balling it up, but that's OK! Actually makes it easier to pick up with chopsticks ?. After finishing halfway through, I thought the toppings:noodle ratio was good, but was afraid the soup ratio to both might have been lacking. But really, the shape of the bowl is much deeper than you think. In the end, the Noodle:Topping:Broth ratio was actually PERFECT ?!My friend had the 雙拼湯麵 (Two-Topping Soup Noodles) with 雲吞 (Wonton) & 牛腩( Beef Plate), which is normally my go-to. He's not a thin noodles guy, but he thought it was flavorful. Plus, the noodles were springy!Their 蝦腸粉 (Shrimp Rice Rolls) looked a little messy, but was really good! Sauce was savory, slightly sweet, and the rice rolls themselves were really smooth! Wrinkly and folded up, yes, but it's the softest and smoothest I've had in a while.咖央西多士 (Kaya Toast) was interesting! If you're wondering what Kaya is, it's coconut jam. Admittedly though, the spread inside was a bit too thin for me. I would've liked a more liberal lathering of that Kaya. Otherwise, the cut of the thick bread ? all toasted up with egg batter around was OK. I wonder how it would've been if they soaked that bread in milk ahead of time though... ? Still worth ordering! Oh, and they bring out a thing of 蜜糖honey ? for it, but I'd rather pour the 煉奶 condensed milk over it, that's intended for the 奶茶 (milk tea).Which leads me to the segue into 奶茶. A little tame. Not heavy on the flavor. Really needed the condensed milk to give it some. But a good milk tea should have that nice Assam Tea smell to it. Although, not a lot of good milk tea places around the area, so what's given here is about par average.Parking: Parking used to be easy here, despite the weird design of the lot, which has more parking on the bottom. But then, the restaurant options got better, and holy mackerel! It got SUPER tight! Navigating here is no joke! People are trying to come in and out, you don't know whose coming from where, or how to fit.“

“We were in Pasadena to meet up with our son. Got hungry so we decided to get some DIm Sum. Didn’t realize there is a Lunasia branch here so we went and tried it. Like the one in Cerritos you have to check in and put in the number of people in your party. It’s a small restaurant and was extremely busy. We sat after 45 minutes. Wesley gave us a barcode to scan so we can order from the our phones. He gave us premium service even after observing how busy he was taking care of other guests. The food has the same quality as in their Cerritos restaurant. However some of their items on the menu were sold out. We still got our favorites come in although it took a while to come in. In the end we were all full and had to bring home some extra food that we didn’t finish. Wesley was eager enough to provide us a lot of to go boxes“

“Wah Sing Dim Sum, on San Gabriel Blvd., is just below Las Tunas Drive. The only time they've disappointed me is when I forget they're closed on Wednesdays. Other than that they make some of the yummiest dim sum around. They make my favorite charsiu.... chasu? chashu?? -- anyway, favorite bbq pork steamed bao here. I don't know what makes them so good. I think there's a hint of ginger in that filling. Their stir-fried noodles, $5.89 under the "Chef's Special" section, are also a steal. Their steamed sausage rolls are good as well. I've only ordered my food to-go. I've only seen diners inside one in a while although admittedly I usually stop in the early afternoon. The ladies behind the counter are no nonsense but sweet; they've thrown a sample my way once or twice. The wait for your food can be more than a few minutes, especially if that item you want isn't fully steamed yet, especially if they're busy, but the extra wait is worth it. They're a dim sum hole-in-the-corner of a strip mall dominated by a Good Fortune Supermarket, which means tons of parking. In fact, every single time I've been there, there's always another customer-- or several customers-- waiting to order, or waiting to receive their order. Speaking of ordering, they have the standard golf pencils (next to a bottle of hand sanitizer) for filling out the order form. There are also laminated menus with photos. Wah Sing is a dim sum dark horse that won't disappoint. Unless you go in a Wednesday“

“If you're looking for authentic Cantonese/Food off the beaten path (on the west side of HH) without having to compete with all the traffic (between Azusa Road and Nogales), check out Cocoin. It's run by a really cool couple. I'd say their food is definitely a strong 4 but their service and how nice they are bumps it up to a 5. There's plenty of seating inside. It's not huge but if you need tables for large parties of 8 to 10, they have those as well as smaller tables for parties of 4 or 6. There's plenty of parking outside. I've visited numerous times over the last few years and I'd say everything we've eaten so far from beef chow fun to hainan chicken hovers around 4 stars. Their hainan chicken is bone-in unlike Cluck 2 Go. Their portion size like their pork chop dishes (i.e ging do pai gwut) is a really good value (especially now a days) and their wok hay for their stir fries and chow fun is good. I particularly enjoy their herbal drinks which can vary from day to day.“

“Had dinner with my family last Friday and boy is this place fancy. We arrived around 5:30 and it was pretty empty. There are private rooms and apparently, that's the place to be because our server kept disappearing into those rooms with some amazing dishes of stir-fried clams, crab, and whatnot. But, back to my dinner: we ordered a sampler platter: bbq pork, duck and roast pork with cracklin' skin. The center portion was goma wakame seaweed salad, stir fried string beans with (very salty) minced pork; beef shortribs that were tasty, but kind of tasted like pork (it was definitely beef), fish filet with tender choy sum, seafood soup, and one other dish. If you want steamed fish, it will be market price (pricey, no surprise). Generally, the food was very flavorful and well executed, espcially the veggies and roast pork -- the string beans were the best! I would say some of their dishes are not what I'm used to from other Chinese restaurants flavor profile-wise (not that it's a bad thing), so I'll have to come back to try some of their seafood dishes. Service was pretty good. Our waiter was dressed up and wore gloves. The place has a hotel banquet hall vibe. Seems this place is popular for dimsum as I've heard, so I'll have to come back during the day and see how that goes. Will be back!“

“I'm lovin' these retro looking Cantonese cafes. It brings me back to late 80s, early 90s Hong Kong movies. White dresses, big hair, bright red lipstick, lighted checkerboard window walls in a nightclub and an appearance by either Simon Yam, Chow Yun Fat, Eric Tsang or Maggie Cheung. Longten has an unassuming 2nd floor entrance that is not street facing and is above a recessed parking structure (parking is free). It has a puke yellow ceiling that gives way to a luminescent high ceiling. This is sooo late 80s and so fitting. They have booths and tables. Beef w/ Black Bean Sauce Chow Mein (double yellow crispy style) - This dish is my custom order when I have haven't been to an Hong Kong cafe for awhile. Usually the Beef w/ Black Bean Sauce is served with thick white chow fun rice noodles but most places can easily substitute in crispy noodles instead if you ask. They did up the noodle nice and crispy and there was plenty of tender beef slices to go with the onions, red bell peppers and green bell peppers. Everything was as expected which is a good thing. Pineapple Bun w/ Butter ($3.95) - When they put a pineapple bun on a menu at an HK cafe, it is really hard for me to resist. I know I can buy it an Chinese or Taiwanese bakery. But at a restaurant the crusted crumbly top just crumbles harder. The fat pat of butter seems like an overdone luxury. I'm worth it. The have a lot of the HK cafe staples here. Sandwiches, congee, stir fry dishes, wonton noodles, rice noodles, chow mein, combo dinner platters like pork chop and chicken. Portion size is good, prices reasonable and service was quick. Sure there a number of HK cafes in the area. I like Longten because the food is solid and it's less hectic than some of the more popular places. There was no wait for me to be seated on a Saturday night. And oh, that early 90s Hong Kong night club vibe.“

“It is a classic Hong Kong-style diner that's wallet-friendly and a neighborhood favorite. I've known JJ Hong Kong Cafe since early 2013 and just rediscovered it again! My boyfriend and I were looking for HK food and this restaurant came up on our Google search. Everything from the backdoor entrance to the window seat my parents and I sat before, the memories came rushing back! I'm so glad to see they offered all my favorites, plus, a wide variety of options from baked pastas to club sandwiches to sizzling pots - all of which reflect the mix of Asian and Western culture. We enjoyed 4 dishes: Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings 椒鹽雞翼, Salt & Pepper Tofu, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce 鱼香茄子, and New York Steak. We ordered to take leftovers home because we got too excited with the feeling of nostalgia. The portion sizes were generous, especially considering the reasonable prices. While everything wasn't mind-blowingly amazing, it certainly delivers great value for the price. I did wish the dishes were served at a higher temperature, or maybe it got cold pretty quickly because of the cold weather - not sure. The Eggplant with Garlic Sauce 鱼香茄子 was my favorite out of all 4 dishes - the eggplant was cooked perfectly soft and had a generous coating of the sauce. My boyfriend was pleasantly surprised at the New York Steak's portion and thoroughly enjoyed it! The restaurant is located right on the corner of Garvey and Ynez Avenue so you can't miss it. Parking is located in the back of the restaurant lot on Ynez Avenue. Overall, my boyfriend and I had a great experience and took note they are open till 1 AM Friday-Sunday and 12 AM regularly. We will definitely be back!“

Ok to return.I am posting 4 stars only because the fifth is for improvements going forward.“

“Major selling point of authentic taste, and that promise was mostly delivered.Three dishes are excellent, better than anywhere else, and will return for more:Shredded chicken has very good texture and excellent flavor. No ginger dip provided because it's already mixed in.Beef offal has sweetbread (pancreas ) , tripe and stomach. Very good flavor and good sauce.Lamb hotpot is very good to excellent, miso dip will persuade people who don't like the lamby gamey to love it.Three are recommended, but similar could be available elsewhere :Stir fry pork liver has good temperature control resulting in good texture, but the sauce is a little heavy for my taste.Long beans with minced pork was good to fair.Hot pot rice was fair. Good flavor but I want more crispy burnt rice at the bottom.Only dish I don't recommend is the noodles in Peking sauce. The flavor was off, not what I expected. Also tried beef offal rice noodles soup. Good to very good. And the serving is huge. Best buy.The steamed egg white desert is fair to good. Not too sweet. The chef has a tendency for bigger flavors. Perfect for anyone who does not like blandness. Overall strongly recommended.Vegetarian options: A vegetarian section available on menuDietary restrictions: Ask before ordering. Not impossibleParking: Large strip mall outdoor parkingKid-friendliness: Fair to good kid friendly. Not much hazard . Saw families dining. Didn't ask for or seen high chair.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to curb, swing glass doors. Fair spacing between tables and clear lane to toilet“

“My family has been ordering from them for Lunar New Year for many years now. They offer a lot of good Chinese dishes for a reasonable price. I took off a few stars because we tried to order over the phone in advance on CNY eve, and they said they don't take pre orders. That's fine, we called like they recommended about 1-2 hours before our desired time. We called so many times and no one picked up because their lines were so busy. I wished they would just take orders earlier in the day so we don't have to physically go in person to order and wait. When we got there in person, we were informed it'll take about 30 min to an hr. Sure, that's fine as well. We waited and waited and saw people who came after us, leave with food. I checked with the staff and it turns out, they left our food on the table without informing us, despite them taking down my number and telling me they'll give me a call when it's ready. I wished the service would be better or they have a better system on peak holidays.Parking: sucks on holidays. But that's expected. So park on the street and walk in if you can.“

“Decided to visit to this spot-on Thanksgiving Day 2023! Honestly, not sure what to expect, as soon we walked in, we were happily greeted and seated right away! I noticed there were a ton of to go orders. Partner and I were craving our typical Chinese food orderSalt and Pepper Calamari – Crunchy, seasoned well, not too spicySzechwan Eggplant – hint of spice, stayed hot (temperature wise) the whole timeBeef Chow Fun w gravy – Tender beef, flavorful noodsDuck – typical, very good except, it came out room temp.BBQ Pork – Typical and just like the duck – room temp.If you are in or near the area and can’t get to Alhambra or Rosemead, let’s say you live in Whittier, City of Industry, Avocado Heights then this is your spot. =)Missing star – I was quite surprised at the price of 2 Bbq item combo $31? “The food is good, depends obviously what you try. The food is warm and there is a variety to try. The workers need to be called to get the bill. They do have chicken feet, octopus and many shrimp dishes. They give tea and water to every table. Finding the restaurant is complicated and you have to follow the sign outside.Wheelchair accessibility: Not friendly for people with disabilities.“

“Good dim sum. Loved the multitude of seafood options. The scallop dumpling in particular was delicious! I came early with a friend on a Friday for lunch and the service was quick. I wish there were more vegetables (I wanted gai lan) as part of the dim sum options rather than as part of an entree.“

“Came here for brunch and got the shrimp rice noodles and roast pork rice noodles. Both were great. The HK milk tea was also good, and comes in a massive cup. Getting a refill to go only costs 50 cents. Service here is really friendly, and prices are affordable. It's a bit out of the way but definitely worth coming here if you have high standards for rice noodles.“

“A very ok standard Hong Kong style noodle and jook place. The rice rolls were soft and silky, very delicious. The wonton noodles broth was not super salty but still umami. The wontons were fairly large with a visible bite of shrimp inside. I probably judged this bowl unfairly as the memory of wontons in Hong Kong is still fresh in my mind last week, but the noodles itself is soft and doesn't have that springy wonton noodle texture. Service is super chill and was just one lady when we were there. The menu is pretty simple and straightforward. I probably will come back to try their congee and other stir fry dishes.“

“This long overdue five star review is for the phenomenal Hainan chicken rice at Man Chan Cuisine. Over the past five years, this has consistently been the best Hainan chicken I had in LA. The chicken is always flavorful and tender, with reasonably bone and a perfect balance of the best parts of the meat. A huge shoutout to the owner for maintaining such high quality standards for so many years. Their coconut chicken soup is another highlight, made with fresh whole coconut that you can truly taste in every sip. This restaurant deserves far more attention than it gets. A gem like this should definitely shine brighter.“

“Specialty Chang Fun restaurant? Count me in! Their Chang fun had such amazing texture- it was thin but had that je ne sais quoi. It almost as good as the one in Flushing, NY but they have much more varieties of flavor here. I was expecting the typical umami sauce like at dim sum places so their milder sauce took me aback. I'm guessing it's because they want the ingredients to shine, which it really did. To order:They give you a menu picture, a pen, and a scratch paper. Each menu item has a number, which you write on the scratch paper and hand to the waiter to order. Got the:1) pork & shrimp Chang fun: 9/10- Delicious and lots of ingredients - shrimp was a great texture, I only wish it was a tad bit bigger2) The fish rice noodle was amazing: 10/10- the fish was very soft and tender and just falls apart in your chopsticks. - They also seasoned the fish really well with white pepper - would get again and again3) beef stew Chang fun: 8/10- looks like their beef stew is very popular because they have many items with beef stew and I watched him scoop some from a large vat 4) egg Chang fun: 8/10- great, I mean, It's eggs in rice noodle, what else is there to say?5) chicken Chang fun: 9/10- one word: scrumptious 6) Preserved egg and pork congee: 9/10- the theme of this restaurant has been amazing texture- and this congee had exemplary texture- it was perfectly thick and had lots of ingredients - it comes with some chopped veggies and cilantro- I only wish there was more cilantro - there's white pepper on the table if you want to add any Can't wait to come back again. They get a bonus in my book for playing 90's HK films on TV, lol.“
