“Got a quick drink here on a Saturday night after being turned away from a restaurant that was too busy. The music was really good and our drinks were delicious. We also got to share a conversation with someone who appeared to be the owner. Everyone was kind and helpful. I’m excited to return.“

“Last Friday, my team and I had the pleasure of dining at Maya Del Sol, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible service we received. After a long day of meetings, we were looking forward to unwinding and enjoying some good food, and Maya Del Sol exceeded our expectations. We had a party of about 22 people, which can be quite challenging for any restaurant to handle, but the staff at Maya Del Sol handled it with grace and efficiency. Our server, Erin, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She was attentive, fast, and incredibly patient with our large group. It's not easy to cater to the needs of 22 people, but Erin did it flawlessly and with a smile on her face. I have no doubt that Erin went home exhausted after serving us, but her exceptional customer service truly made our dining experience unforgettable. Thank you, Erin and the rest of the Maya Del Sol team, for your hard work and dedication. We will definitely be back for more delicious food and fantastic service!“

“Had reservation for 1145, did not get seated till 1230pmUnderstandable that this is a weekend but times like this you need to give time limits as some restaurants do now days. You had tables that were finished just sitting and talking enjoying family time, but we all would like that chance with our family enjoying your fabulous foodOnly a suggestion“

“What an amazing place! I had heard how hard it was to get reservations at this restaurant and now I know why!!! I really thought how different or better could Sweet and Sour Chicken be than the hundreds of other times that I've had it, but now I know!!! From the appetizers to main dishes, everything was absolutely amazing. Such unique and delicious tastes. A must try and a must return!“

“What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said or known to be true. Little bad wolf has the best Mac and cheese I've ever had in my life. I don't know what they do but it's liquid crack in those noodles and I just can't get enough of it.The burgers there are also top five in Chicago. Definitely try the bao buns and the tacos as well as they have tons of flavor and they never disappoint. One of my favorite appetizers is the elotes which is absolutely amazing.I love this place I just wish it was closer to me and they took reservations but I'll keep coming back as long as they got the liquid cheddar crack.“

“First off, the vibes here are immaculate. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Soho House, and the ambiance is very intimate--perfect for a smaller party. The menu is pretty straightforward. There aren't a lot of options to choose from, but each item is very unique. What we ordered: Caliente en los Trópicos: pretty yummy! Supposed to be spicy, but the spice is not overbearing at all. An interesting cocktail. Ceviche: a great way to start the dinner. Very shareable; love the balance of sour and savory flavors. Tuna Tostada: my favorite! I've never had a tuna tostada before, and it's nothing like what I expected. Mussels: you cannot go wrong with the mussels. The bread goes so well with this. Considering the dishes seem so original and the quick service, I'd definitely recommend this spot to my friends.“

“Updated review, still a very solid cocktail bar even if the rules on cell phones and dress code have gotten a bit lax over the years.Menu all around is good and the bar tenders are very knowledgeable. Space overall is pretty quiet and arranged in such a way that things feel very private.Worth stopping by at least onceLook for the recessed door, you could walk by without ever knowing it's there!“

“Fabulous night last week Friday 4/19 and again for the Anniversary party tonight on 4/25. All the Managment team and Staff throughout the night were amazing. I would especially like to call out Lea, Leann, and Ace. On both nights not only did they take care of the parties I was with, they went above and beyond and treated us like family. I appreciate the kindness and the education about the fish and the drinks. Everyone is so amazing. Everyone is so amazing and kind. We couldn't be more happy with out experiences. My crew willbe returning again and again.“

“Absolutely excellent bar, amazing staff who are calm, kind, and knowledgeable. The entire environment is intentional and high quality. We sat at the bar and got to see the drinks being prepared which was a great experience. Have heard good things about the food though we didn’t try any this time. The drinks are INCREDIBLE. This is a MUST GO in Chicago. We made a mistake with our reservation and they were kind enough to still put us on the waiting list and we were able to include this in our trip. Very grateful and will come again!“

“The food is outstanding....so fresh and interesting. Kudos for the very good service we received. Our only concern is the noise level that makes it difficult to hear the person across the table. If the noise level could be lowered, this place would be golden!“

“A not so hidden gem as of late now that reviews are catching up with the imaginative menu and exceptional dining experience Community Tavern has been consistently providing over the past several years. Menu is full of unique dishes… elevated dumpling and noodles are a signature. Beautifully plated and generous- but not overly. Cocktail menu is fun, with zero proof options that are spot on. Save room for baked Alaska. Oh, and ambiance is chic but allows the focus to be where it belongs. On the food. Upscale West Loop experience in modest Portage Park for a lot less and no pretense.“

“I haven’t been impressed with Italian food here in Chicago until now. This place is seriously good. The appetizers recommended by our server were outstanding. Superb flavors. Handmade pasta dishes were very, very good. The final course of pork collar was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this place over others.“
“Truly enjoyed the Puttery experience! We came in on a Saturday during St. Patrick’s day weekend. Fortunately, Ryan advised us to come during a time in which we can enjoy the game and the ambiance. The restaurant/bar area on the 2nd floor was great for eating and obtaining our amazing drinks. They have some of the best mixed drinks in West Loop! The BBQ on Saturday Night was my favorite. We took our drinks to the 3rd floor in the lounge/bar to have a nice, cozy conversation before the game. The patio had some great views of West Loop.We took to the holes when we were all warmed up for our mini golf session. Although the 3rd floor course had flatter and more adventurous areas, the 2nd floor course was more intimate and challenging. There can only be up to 4 people in a traveling group though. My date and I ended up having a fun time.I want to thank Ryan, the manager, for helping to make this a memorable experience. We will be back soon with friends.“

“I’ve been twice, once to dine in and the other to dine out. The restaurant itself is a great space. It’s small enough to feel intimate and quiet. Both times I’ve had the pastelillos de carne, lechón, y arroz con gandules. The food is SOOOO good! I’m a Puertorriqueño originally from NYC (South Bronx) and Puerto Rican food was not just plentiful at home but in the community. Since moving to the Midwest (first Nebraska, the Minnesota, and now Illinois) I’ve usually had to hope for cuisines that were proximal but not Puerto Rican (Colombian, Venezuelan, Cuban, etc.). Chicago has obviously been much better as it relates to Puerto Rican options but of all the ones I’ve tried to date (within and beyond Humboldt Park) Marina’s takes the prize for feeling most like a home cooked meal. The food is so flavorful. The portions are just right. It may be a bit pricier than some peers but honestly it’s worth it. So glad to have a place much closer to my home in Rogers Park.“

“Amazing cocktail bar with great ambiance and drinks! Amazing mixologist at the bar - Matt was very passionate and knowledgeable about his cocktails. We had 6 different cocktails total and all were delicious. The winners for me:- Lost Explorer: if you like mezcal!- Purple Pisco Sour: a little sweeter but the maracuya foam is delish!“

“Gotta kick this off with kudos to Eduardo, an amazing staff member at this establishment. “Love that this place is dog friendly! My friend told me that it used to be a house but after it burned down they turned it into a bar. They have a heated indoor patio and outdoor patio in addition to the inside space. Our bartender was fabulous but I didn't catch her name. The drinks were all top-knotch, I wish they had food but they do allow you to bring in outdoor food. We ordered pizza and then a guy selling tamales came around. Overall a super fun night and can't wait to come back!“

“We had drinks in The Aldermen portion. The drinks were incredible. Best gin and tonic I’ve ever had. Lance was running the show that night. We told him what we liked, and he nailed it. I would seriously put Lance as one of the best bartenders in the world. Yes, we will be back. Sad thing is, when I go other places, they won’t compare. The Pilsen Yards space looked fun, and did have great outdoor space. Another one of Chicago’s great neighborhoods to explore.“

“Overall Thoughts: I went to Amaru for 2024 Restaurant Week, and it had lovely vibes, solid food, and friendly service all around. My friends and I got the cheaper $42 dinner option and felt the value was good— we were stuffed and satisfied afterwards. Out of all 3 courses, the dessert was definitely the weakest, but I really enjoyed the other two courses!- Course 1: Requeson (4.6/5): The soft cheese was delicious; it was creamy and slightly sweet, pairing nicely with the slightly spiced salsa.- Course 2: Mole Y Leon (4.5/5): This was my first time having lion’s mane mushroom, and it was great! The texture was stringy and chewy, and the seared flavors were strong. The yuca was crispy and tasty, and the mole was rich and earthy.- Course 3- Espresso Tres Leches (4/5): Definitely lacking relative to the other two dishes; the cake wasn’t moist enough in my opinion, and the flavor was kind of monotonous.—Price (relative to peers): 4.2/5Food: 4.4/5Ambience: 4.9/5Overall Value: 4.5/5“

“Worth the wait and must try! Beautiful and unique venue in the unassuming town of Des Plaines. Our server was kind and welcoming, food was delicious, drinks were fun and tasty. The only two items that were less than ideal, the horrible acoustics (incredibly loud) and although it was too on my list to try, the chicken shawarma rolls were underwhelming. Even with those two items, the great service and food quality it's still worth the 5 star review. We sat upstairs, which very much appreciated, being out of the hustle and bustle of the downstairs. Looking forward to trying the brunch and the outside patio... overlooking the water.“

“I went to La Josie during restaurant week and I was pleasantly surprised. My server was very nice and gave good insight on the restaurant week dishes: The tamale was PERFECT, a tad bit spicy but flavorful. I'm not sure if that is on the regular menu but it definitely should be. The churro cheesecake was amazing and melted in my mouth. The burrito was mediocre however, I was so impressed by everything else it didn't bother me much.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Medi Kitchen & Cocktail in Chicago, and it was truly a gastronomic adventure that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for what turned out to be an unforgettable dining experience. To start, I ordered the Potato Borak as an appetizer, and it was a revelation in flavor. The crispy pastry wrapped around creamy mashed potatoes and herbs created an exquisite contrast in textures, and the accompanying dipping sauce added a delightful tangy kick. It was an ideal prelude to the culinary journey that awaited. The Fattoush Salad was a refreshing and colorful medley of fresh vegetables, toasted pita bread, and a zesty dressing that awakened the palate. The balance of flavors and textures in this dish was impeccable, making it a perfect palate cleanser before the main course. Speaking of the main course, the Beef Kabob and Shish Tawook were nothing short of spectacular. The Beef Kabob was tender and succulent, with a delightful smoky char that added depth to the taste. The Shish Tawook, featuring marinated chicken skewers, was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. Both dishes were served with fragrant saffron rice and a medley of grilled vegetables that complemented the proteins superbly. The crowning jewel of the meal, however, was the Fairouz drink. Each sip was a symphony of textures and flavors, a sweet crescendo to an already exceptional meal. What sets Medi Kitchen & Cocktail apart is not just the outstanding cuisine but also the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring that every need was met. In conclusion, my dining experience at Medi was nothing short of extraordinary. The culinary artistry, attention to detail, and warm ambiance combined to create a memorable evening. I can confidently give this restaurant a resounding 5/5 rating, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit to savor more of their delectable offerings. If you're in Chicago and looking for a taste of Mediterranean cuisine at its finest, Medi Kitchen & Cocktail is an absolute must-visit.“

“I’ve been here many times and have always had good food and good service. The menu changes based on the seasons though a few options are always on the menu. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The duck is very good, but they have excellent fish and vegetarian options. Once, service was slow, and they comped us a pasta they brought to us while we waited for what we had ordered and the dessert we ordered at the end. Which brings me to the other positive of Duck Inn and that’s the service. I’ve never had bad service here. The Duck Inn is a special place and reflects well on the Chicago food scene.“

“It’s a great spot for a variety of craft beers on tap, and the ambience is lovely as well. The menu is nice, but it’s a little more pricey than you might expect out of a craft beer spot. That said, I agree on the prices listed after trying the dishes offered. The short rib is delicious, as well as the chicken sandwich. The service did leave a little to be desired, I kind of felt like I was looking around for the individual waiting on the section I was seated in, but overall it has always been a pleasant experience. I would bring guests here maybe the second or third time they visited me in Chicago. Not a first draft pick to represent the city, but it’s a nice place to feel like you’re part of the scene here.“

We ordered a bunch of different drinks and they were all great, I loved the Scotsman in Paradise, great if you like scotch paired with something tropical. Can't wait to come back and try all of the cocktails they have. “First things first, if you are coming on a Saturday around 8pm get a reservation. We did and thankfully so. The place was packed. We saw walk ins come in and the place had every table full so they were welcomed to the bar but it packed as well. The hostess, security and manager at the time were phenomenal. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Just want to shout that out. I wouldn't come to this place for the food but the fries and sliders were good. “The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“

“Lola’s Restaurant and Bar is easy to find and sits just off Randolph St. in the West Loop (we definitely appreciated avoiding the congestion on Randolph on a Friday night!) The statement-blue “Lola’s” awnings on the front of the building are easy to identify. Surprisingly, there is plenty of inexpensive street parking right on Carpenter St. through the ParkChicago app.Upon entering the restaurant, we peeked through a luxe red velvet curtain and arrived to the artful setting, exposed brick walls, upbeat tempo of atmospheric music, and welcoming face of our hostess. She quickly seated 5 of us at a spacious table whilst my husband fiddled with his parking app. It just so happened that the owners of Lola’s were sitting by the entrance when we arrived, when one of the most amazing displays of hospitality occurred! The credit card associated with my husband’s parking app had expired, so he was quickly trying to update his payment profile when one of the owners came right up to him and said, “I’ll take care of that” and dashed outside to read our license plate and pay for the parking personally on his own app! What a welcoming!Upon being seated, we were offered our choice of beverages. While most in our group ordered from the extensive selection of sparkling and other wines, I was intrigued with the variety of “zero proof” beverages (that can be spiked upon request). I highly recommend the Tropical Turmeric & Ginger Old Fashioned. The fresh ingredients are amazing, including the giant, square orange blossom ice cube that gives the drink a warm orange glow and mild sweetness that balances out the tangy turmeric and ginger flavors. This is actually about the fourth or fifth time I’ve dined at Lola’s, and the main thing that keeps me coming back is the quality and freshness of the food. The menu has something for everyone. Although I’m not a strict vegetarian, I can attest that there are plenty of options for those who don’t eat meat, chicken, or fish. Bar none, my favorite thing on the menu is the Crispy Brussels & Sweet Potatoes, which melt in your mouth! Our table also enjoyed the Greek Chicken Skewers, which were surrounded by scrumptious home-made hummus that we all scooped up with the tasty, crisp, seeded crackers that accompanied this appetizer. The House Meatballs were also a hit—again, surrounded by a delicious marinara and served with large pieces of grilled bread for dipping. For dinner I ordered Lola’s Salad with grilled chicken. It was a decadent portion filled with unexpected surprises like fresh cherry tomatoes, toasted sunflower seeds, garbanzo beans, tidbits of spicy genoa salami, and zingy pickled peppers. I will be coming back for this one, which is a great choice for lunch or dinner. Definitely don’t skip the fresh parmesan on top!Although we were satiated by all the great food, we couldn’t resist the dessert menu. We gleefully shared a giant, warm chocolate chip cookie served in a dinnerplate-sized cast iron pan, topped with a cool scoop of fresh vanilla ice cream. Our server did not disappoint by having individual plates, spoons, and even extra napkins at the ready! All in all, Lola's is a great experience and an excellent value. Some of us brought our extra food home--I'm looking forward to leftovers and adding it to my favorites on Uber Eats!Vegetarian options: Fabulous selection of vegetarian dips, including spinach & artichoke and home-made hummus. DO NOT SKIP the Crispy Brussels & Sweet Potatoes! Also great pasta and salad choices.Parking: I've never had a problem finding parking within 1 block of the restaurant.“

“We went back to Citrine for pre-concert eats on our way to Chicago. This is a Mediterranean-type restaurant. Cocktails are good, food is good. Service is impeccable. Our server this visit was Theo, and he was attentive and friendly. The other staff from the young woman who sat us to the guys who delivered food and cleared the table were attentive and always gave us a smile. My husband and I started out with a glass of wine and a cocktail. We decided once again to share small plates together. We had the New York strip steak tartare. It's absolutely fabulous so we had to have it again. Fresh steak with a raw egg on top that oozes into the steak as you break it, it's perfection. We also got the homemade lepinja bread served warm with a couple spreads. I can't eat nuts or seeds and it came out covered with sesame seeds. No problem, Theo was more than happy to take it back and have bread made just for me without seeds. That's great service. We then shared the roasted beet salad which had arugula, goat cheese, avocado, and orange. It was a very small salad for the price of $14. Having said that, the salad was fresh and I liked the different textures, but it was the size of a small side salad and not worth the price. I would pass on this my next visit. The final dish we shared was the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and grilled perfectly, the grits were creamy. This dish was packed with flavor and some heat. Delicious. Citrine accepts reservations and parking is paid street parking. I definitely recommend this restaurant and you must try the steak tartare. So damn delicious!“
