“Celebrated our 5th anniversary here tonight while visiting Philly. Beautiful ambiance and impeccable service. Rebecca our server was kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our experience great. We did the Chef’s which was seasonal, thoughtful and delicious. Each serving was creative and intriguing. Compliments to Chef Kevin McWilliams. If you live in or near the Philly area please give this place a try!“

Tasting

“I enjoyed dining at Her Place, I definitely felt like I was having a meal in someone's home. The restaurant is tiny and every table has a view of the kitchen. I dined by myself so I was placed at one of the two window seats. My back was toward the kitchen and I had to turn around each time the chef was describing the dishes. The menu wasn't something I would have normally chosen for myself, it was very seafood focused but it was all around tasty. The main dish was a quail and morels. My favorites of the night were the chicken liver pate with radishes and homemade Ritz cracker. They really did taste like a Ritz but much elevated. My other favorite of the night was the dessert: the rhubarb, cream cheese semi freddo, and meringue was to absolutely die for. You could really taste the cream cheese. Also notable was the sauce Americaine in the quenelle/lobster dish, I wanted to scoop it up and lick the plate. I see people complaining how it wasn't enough food since you had to share, I didn't have this problem, as I was solo and was able to eat full plates of everything. I enjoyed the final touches at the end, giving out cookies and a bag of Chex Mix. Bravo. I'd maybe come back if I were to travel to Philadelphia again. $120 after tax and tip.“

“Excellent food, The area in front where you place your order is very small - - but not nearly as small as the area *behind* the counter where the staff takes, cooks, and plates orders. The entire scene there is a little chaotic and very cramped as you must also wait in the same area until there is room to seat you *before* your order is taken.Once there is room your order is taken, you are then seated. We had a large party of 8 and were seated 'outside' on the glass enclosed porch. Thankfully, at the time we atethe building blocked the sun ad we had a lovely view of the garden (and gardeners) next door. Other areas were pretty exposed to the sun and probably would have become uncomfortably warm.Again, the food was all excellent and we will certainly return, but probably with a smaller party and with greater awareness of the weather and request particular seating if available.Check out the photos from other reviews and you'll see how charming the dining area is. ?“

“Mabu is a neighborhood gem with intimate ambience, incredible food, and just a real sense of taste in everything from the decor to menu curation. It’s a French countryside vibe… and extremely affordable. BYOB helps. The sheppards pie, duck confit, ratatouille, and omg the BANANA PUDDING! I secretly don’t want to tell people about it, so it can remain in this state of perfection for my family’s personal use… but I also hope they stay open and need more foot traffic! Food takes a while to come… but so what? This place is for lingering and enjoyment.“

“We've been eating our way around breakfast spots in Reading Terminal Market, and the creperie was up today! The cashier was very nice, and our order was taken and delivered quickly. We were able to snag two of the seats at their available counter seating, which is limited but better than nothing! We ordered the apple caramel crepe as well as the sausage breakfast crepe, both of which were good. The apple caramel crepe had a great sweetness to it without being overdone, but I do wish that the apples were cooked down a bit like pie filling rather than being just large chunks of apple that made it more difficult to eat. The breakfast crepe was definitely the better of the two with a generous portion of meat alongside fluffy eggs and cheese inside of a slightly sweet crepe. They seem to go through a lot of nutella, so I would like to come back to try one of those!“

“The service was great - we had a most enjoyable time learning from and about the students, the instructor, and the school. The food was good and the environment was very nice. Even the dessert that I ordered but was told that 'the chef did not want to serve' because it wasn't perfect - and they let me taste anyway- was really good (maybe even the tastiest thing I had!). Overall, a good experience even if it wasn't the best food ever - I'm sure it varies from visit to visit.“
