“We came here during restaurant week, and the servings are just enough for each member of the group to try. This restaurant serves great food that makes you want to appreciate every bite. Sampan is linked, and this location is typically busy. Since the dining room was downstairs, there was a kind of nice corridor leading to it. You and your group can choose from a small variety of dishes to share at the table during restaurant week, with some items having an additional fee. There was a stronger romantic vibe. Here, the Kobe beef is a great choice.”

“It is hard to articulate the artistry that went into the creation of my very special birthday cake but the Night Kitchen Bakery did it. I had a special birthday this year and some great friends were flying in to help me celebrate. I had traveled with these friends and had many wild experiences, one of which was a very specific picture this fantastic bakery not only replicated flawlessly but made it oh so much better. Yes the cake photo attached is a cake - a DELICIOUS mocha cake that was as good as the artistry was on the outside. If you want a delicious cake, they're the place to go to. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! The pepperoni pasta was exactly that - not the worst but it was something I'd make drunk in my kitchen at 3 am. Fries were meh.A solid 4 on the food front. There are two seatings each night, 6:30pm and 8:30pm. If you can’t get a reservation for the released block time, you can request to be added to the wait list. That’s exactly how I received my dinning spot. The experience is intimate, warm and friendly. It truly is like being invited to a friend’s house for dinner, except your friend won’t be serving you these yummy dishes. The food creations are amazing and the courses numerous. The chef announces each dish before it’s served, explaining the ingredients and inspiration. They also provide an extensive wine list and delicious craft cocktails. Highly recommend!”

There was too much for the two of us, so I dropped off one box with our friends. When I called the next day to ask my friend's girlfriend how it was, she responded, "I don't know, he inhaled it before I could try it." We were sold after that. They were super friendly and provided lightning-fast service during the meal. Their ability to serve the hungry crowd without sacrificing quality or hospitality was truly impressive. Our guests were delighted and many went back to try other options on the menu. I ordered a wonton soup, fried taro, and hot peanut noodles. All of them were delicious and very homey. The wontons were light and delicate with a thin wrapping. The fried taro was a little bit too oily and heavy for my taste, though also very tasty. My favorite were definitely the hot noodles. It's clear that the noodles were made from scratch and the peanut sauce was light and complimented it well. I will definitely be returning for more of their nostalgic food!”

Oregon steaks is the best sandwich spot in the whole city. And I say sandwich spot, not steak spot because as immaculate as their steaks are, their roast pork and Italian beef are somehow even better. It’s hard to top perfection! The meat is fresh, the rolls are crisp, and they’re always open. Since I fell in love with this place a while back, I’ve refused to get a cheesesteak anywhere besides here or my own kitchen. “The food and drinks were good, and the bread basket is totally worth it, especially if you’re sharing with others. Our server was nice, attentive, and welcoming, and she was the best part of the visit. She gave good recommendations, and checked in on us frequently. The restaurant also played a good selection of music which gave it a nice vibe. I wish they put on their physicaly menus that the meat is halal. They have this stated on their website, but not on the physical menu so some of our party was not aware. This would have been a 5-star visit had it not been for the seating arrangement and for what happened at the end of the visit. To give some context, we made a reservation in advance for our party, and you would think that for an advance reservation they would take care with the seating. I was not satisfied with where we were seated - our table and seats were cramped, and there was a table right next to us that could accommodate us better. Our table felt really enclosed, practically holed between 3 sides of walls. We thought the table next to us was perhaps booked for another party and that is why they didn’t seat us there. No. We were wrong. For the entire duration, no one was seated at the table next to us, so I don’t understand why we couldn’t sit there. We would have been more comfortable there. Oh well, nice to know for next time.At the end of our dinner, we had given the server our cards to pay for the check, and while we were waiting for our cards, a guy came over (probably the manager), and basically was ushering us out. Although he was being polite about it, it still soured the taste because of course we will leave after we get our cards back. Shouldn’t he have checked with the server about the status of the table before coming to us and tell us that they need to clean the table for the next group and we need to leave? He said it more diplomatically, but basically using the same words here. It left us a bit shocked because we were ready to leave, just waiting for our cards.”

However, we spent over $800 between the two of us with tips included (with the tasting menu priced at $215) which I think is way too overpriced. The wines especially are overpriced, for 150pp I would expect more upscale wines than what was on offered. We ended up going with a Barolo instead which was more reasonable but still $170 for a bottle. For these prices, I would expect Michelin 1 or 2 star quality food, which it wasn't (as nice as our meal was). “It's a diner, so that's how I'm rating the food and atmosphere. Both are great, but obviously this isn't about being fancy.I expect diner food to be somewhere between passable and good; putting it was really good and there was plenty to eat. I hate till I was stuffed and my friend took food home.I'm vegetarian/vegan , so I had the tofu scramble. This was definitely solid. There was lots of tofu so I got my protein for the morning and a good variety of vegetables; I appreciate it tofu scramble that has some greens in it like spinach. I had Fried potatoes so that I would be able to try the house-made ketchup and it was excellent. I wish more restaurants would do this. It makes eating at different places so much more interesting. If you're down for diner eating, this is definitely one of the best if not the best place to go in Philly.Vegetarian options: Sure, it's a diner. If you want eggs or tofu, you're in luck. If your vegan, it's much more restricted.”

Sampling the flavor profile of each oyster was not only delicious but extremely fun as a couple. After oysters and wine, my wife ordered the lobster roll and I had the house clam chowder. The lobster was perfectly cooked and the position size was double that of the perfectly toasted and buttery brioche bread it was on. The fries were homemade and very good. I will say that they could have double fried them to make them a bit more crispy but overall very good. The clam chowder was very rich with smoke amounts of bacon, the smokey flavor from the bacon was a nice addition. The waiter was very attentive and took the time to engage and make a human connection, which is much appreciated. Overall, great experience and I would return here in the future.”

“Wow! We (my husband and I) had a great experience here tonight. We don't have a lot of experiences with Nepalese food. The only other place we've ever been is White Yak in Manayunk/Roxborough, so we can't speak to the authenticity of the food. The momos here were different from the ones we had at White Yak but equally delicious. We tried the Himalayan Chilly flavor and the Tandoori flavor and both were flavor bombs! We didn't have a favorite because they were both so unique and different from each other. The Himalayan noodles were tasty too and reminded me a lot of Indochinese cuisine that I had in India. My husband has a great spice tolerance so medium was just right for him, but I might have enjoyed mild a bit more. We look forward to returning and trying other styles of momos.”

“We just had the best meal here! My partner and I had planned on going elsewhere but we got there after 8pm and didn't have a reservation, so the wait was going to be an hour. We walked over to Wm. Mulherin's Sons and they got us a table in about 15 minutes. We proceeded to have one of the best meals I've had in a while! Starters: the octopus was crispy but succulent and the focaccia was pillowy perfection! Cocktails were excellent. The sausage pizza had a wonderful mix of flavors and the crust!! ? I could have eaten the pizza crust on its own, honestly. Thick and chewy on the edges and perfectly done throughout. We also shared a seasonal pasta with ramps, morels, peas, and asparagus, and got the chocolate mousse cake and gelato for dessert, which were heavenly. Our server Jamyl was attentive and warm, and checked in regularly. All in all, a perfect meal in a lovely location!”

We were invited to have a seat in the lounge area and were each given a lovely complimentary mocktail and encouraged to relax for the short wait until our 8pm seating. We are new to Omakase. The concept and flow was explained to us in detail as well as how certain types of sushi are meant to be enjoyed (i.e., nigiri is a single bite of balanced flavors and you pick it up with your fingers).  The education ahead of time was super helpful. I did not know this. The evening was a beautiful presentation of courses, carefully prepared and explained. Each piece of sushi had a unique flavor, which I believe is due to the high quality of fish and the perfect balance of wasabi and sushi rice.  The fish was so fresh and flavorful and not what you typically experience when you go for sushi, even in upscale establishments. Most of the fish I was trying for the first time  - some from Japan, some from Spain and other regions.  All wonderful! We ordered the sake and whiskey pairing, each drink chosen to match the specific dish. We were given the origin and tasting notes of each, which really helped educate us for the future.  I thought I didn't like sake, but now I have three bottles on my "to purchase" list. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. The front of house staff was knowledgeable and you could tell they truly wanted you to have a wonderful experience.  It was very, genuine - kind people generous in sharing their knowledge.  The chef interacts with you throughout the meal, explaining the ingredients and the preparation process, making the experience educational as well. For us, this experience was about more than just food; it gave us an appreciation for art, tradition, and craftsmanship.  There was a ceremonial aspect to it and I came away feeling like I learned something valuable as well.  We are definitely coming back.  The value for what you receive is excellent.”

“If you're a cheesesteak aficionado like me, then this spot is a must-visit! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. First off, let's talk about the star of the show - the cheesesteak itself. It's evident that they take pride in using only the freshest ingredients, with the steak never seeing the inside of a freezer. The soft sesame seed wedge perfectly complements the juicy, flavorful meat. And speaking of meat, they don't skimp on quality here. Wagyu, rib eye, and NY strip - need I say more? Each bite is a savory symphony of premium beef. What truly sets this place apart is their commitment to cooking each cheesesteak to order. No dried-out meat sitting on the side of the grill here. Every sandwich is crafted with care, ensuring maximum freshness and flavor. Now, I'll admit, the price may be a tad higher than your average cheesesteak joint, but trust me, it's worth every penny. You're paying for top-notch ingredients and impeccable craftsmanship. And the customer service was on point! From the friendly greeting at the door to the attentive staff throughout our meal, they made us feel like valued guests. If you're in downtown Philly craving a cheesesteak experience that's a cut above the rest, look no further. This place delivers on quality, flavor, and hospitality. “Came here for brunch this last weekend. What a lovely experience! Mind you I don't really approve of brunch - half the stuff you can make at home for 3/4s the price. But this place was great! Staff were so nice, patient and helpful. Small but good drink menu with delicious non alcoholic options as well. We had the biscuits and apricot jam and goat cheese fritters as appetizers. Fritters weren't overly salty which I was worried about. Nicely fried with a refreshing apple jam. Biscuits were excellent - nice and flaky. I had the biscuits with mushrooms eggs and potatoes. Eggs were cooked well but still had a bit of runniness to them. The mushrooms were delicious and it all came with this cilantro dressing. Potatoes were also excellent with some peppers thrown in for good measure. It was so hard deciding what to get because honestly everything, especially the savory dishes, looked fantastic. Prices were reasonable, great experience and even though it was brunch and close to their breaking time before dinner, we didn't feel rushed out at all. Highly recommend them!”

“Service is both friendly and kind. We ordered an oat latte and an almond milk flat white to stay. We wanted to get pastries but at the time they had none left. I guess they make them little by little throughout the day because they told us more would be ready in twenty minutes or so. The presentation and execution is lovely. And I love the minimalist aesthetic. And there were several outlets available throughout the cafe for patrons doing some work. Plus points for a spacious and clean bathroom!”

“A great casual Korean spot in the spring garden! They have many lunch specials and lunch boxes, appetizers, noodles, rice, soup, and rice balls (to go). I personally really liked the flavors of the soup and was satisfied! A few tables are available for seating but can be filled up quickly. The cashier and other staff were very friendly as well!”

“I had went with some friends to Chika Ramen Bar for the first time. I had originally doubted the food given the very interesting, futuristic, Blade-Runner-esque theme, though I was pleasantly surprised. Though I had originally, believed, all of this restaurant's pull had been contributed to the ambiance, the food was extremely something to die for. The miso soup ramen with chashu tasted fresh, new, and had helped ease my original concerns. The Karage chicken tasted tender, without any dry pieces. Finally, the servers felt down-to-earth, without them forcing you to leave in a hurry. The overall ambiance, service, and food were something I would definitely consider with friends again.”

“I am so happy this place opened on 2nd street!! Everything my man and I ordered had such tasty and unique flavor. We ordered the drunken noodles (which I was so excited about and met my expectations), tofu fried rice, crab rangoon, and a few sushi rolls. My man usually says his food is fine, however, he said this place is BANGIN which amazed me. Atmosphere is gorgeous. Service is so sweet and kind although I do think our waitress could have been a bit more attentive to details like water refills, empty plates, etc…I didn’t even mind though because she was so sweet and amazing in every other way. I can’t wait to try more items on the menu and am glad nolibs finally has great sushi!!!!”
