This steakhouse is definitely worth a special trip.
We started with the beef tartare, which is an absolute must-try.I actually ordered it by mistake, but it turned out to be the highlight of the meal. The flavor is rich, fragrant, and unique, with none of the heaviness or odd taste you might expect. It’s something you won’t easily find elsewhere. And Yes, it is a raw meat dish.
And the New York striploin made from Alberta grass-fed beef. Compared to Ontario steaks, the texture was firmer and more robust, with more chew. The steak is cooked over a wood fire, which adds a wonderful smokiness and depth of flavor without being greasy.
The prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality and the memorable dining experience, I would still highly recommend this restaurant.

Service staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was great as well; however, the food fell extremely short. The saltiest steak I have ever consumed in my life, and the mushrooms were like rubber bullets. The grilled shrimp is quite nice, though, and I would recommend that if you choose to eat there. Definitely not worth the price to dine there, with many better areas within walking distance.

We had our brunch here and it was delicious. Egg, pancake and avocado toast were the best one I ever had. Definitely coming back here.

Price is not worth what you get - wait staff a little chaotic. Items were forgotten about and were brought out late. Nothing special. Everything was very sub par. Don’t know if I would come back for dinner or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Overall great breakfast experience at Bluebird! I had the eggs Benedict with Hashbrowns and absolutely loved it.
We sat out on the patio in the morning at 10:30am and it wasn’t quite in the sun yet but they had the fire pits on which was a super nice touch.
I’ll definitely be returning to try the dinner menu soon! :)

Fantastic restaurant with a unique menu, mixed with Japanese & German foods along with North American favs. Becoming a staple spot to visit in Banff for both brunch and dinner!

Jenny was amazing! She gave great service and suggestions. I loved the pancake, it was more like a lemon cake than traditional American pancake. The soft egg plate was delectable! HIGHLY Recommend

Visited this place with family (3 adults and 2 kids) and ordered two steaks and one fondue. Everything was quite good. It was my first time trying fondue, and I really enjoyed the cheese — it paired nicely with the bread, pickles, and potatoes. The kids loved the mac and cheese. The staff were kind and even provided booster seats for our little ones, which was very thoughtful.
Prices are a bit higher compared to what I usually pay in the neighborhood(langley), but overall our family was happy with the experience (even if my wallet felt a little lighter afterward!).
Tip for others: Portions are generous, so sharing works well, especially with kids.
They also have individual restrooms, each equipped with a Dyson advanced hand dryer — a small detail, but it added to the overall nice experience.

Johnny was lovely. The food was uniquely supreme, especially the key lime pie. We loved the cocktails! I hope they invest in a beyond meat option for their burgers.

We stopped in for brunch and this place is high end with a relaxed vibe. The mimosa and Caesar were so good we had two. The omelette was seriously the best omelette I’ve had in my life. Must be a French thing but it was beyond perfection. My husband had the pancake and bacon that were again beyond perfection. The service is top notch! If you’re a foodie don’t miss this gem!

Got steak and fries. Fries were way too salty. Steak had burnt inedible ends.

New to the area - I proposed to my partner yesterday and wanted an ad hoc celebration with steak dinner.
We were on the fence between Bluebird and Chuck’s based on recommendations from our peers. Regrettably, we chose Bluebird.
The food itself was fantastic for me (too salty for my fiancee). This 2* is based on their service, or lack thereof.
- server never introduced her name to us
- informed server we had just gotten engaged. They were quite unenthusiastic. This doesn’t impact this review’s scoring but I do want to note it is different compared to reading reviews here on google that for others celebrating their engagement, Bluebird apparently went above and beyond for them. We had no such treatment.
- our server was not present whenever we needed her (we needed water refills throughout, steak sauce, to get the bill at the end) which were all done by others
- note: we were there from 7:45pm to closing so it wasn’t busy
Overall, while I enjoyed the food and Bluebird Colada, Bluebird gave a casual feel as opposed to a higher service I’d expect from their pricepoint and for being a steakhouse. I’ll be trying Chuck’s next time I’m in the area.
