Alright, grab your popcorn because this one’s a bit of a story!

I’m pretty much a regular here — been to this restaurant quite a few times and tried a bunch of different dishes. Hands down, the food is great. Seriously, they’ve got the flavors down. But here’s the kicker: the service? Not so much.

There’s this one guy standing right by the door who seems to be in charge of seating. And honestly... he comes off a bit racist. I’m not even joking. It’s the same thing every single time I go in. Could be the owner? Not 100% sure, but it feels that way.

So here’s what goes down: the restaurant has two sections — left and right. This guy always seats brown people on one side, and everyone else on the other. I’ve noticed it a lot. And when it comes to checking on guests, he and the other staff are all over the non-brown tables — every 15 minutes or so, “How’s the food? Everything good?” Personally, I’m someone who likes my food without a side of interruptions, so I don’t mind that part.

But here’s the weird part: if you’re sitting on the “brown people” side, it’s like you disappear. Service drops to basically zero. No checking in, no “How was everything?” nada. When I first came with a mixed group, I got the full treatment. Next times I went with just my own people, service was basically ghost mode.

I’m gonna give them another shot — I’ll come back and let you know if anything changes. But if it’s the same story again, I’m out. And I won’t be recommending this place to anyone.

Great taste, Great service

The food was exceptional. We enjoyed Palak Paneer, Aloo Gobi and Garlic Naan. Our server seemed like he didn't want to be there. They charge extra for rice to go with the entrees, and for chutneys to go with the papadumm.

I would suggest for Dal tadka instead of Dal makhni, must be busy in evening time

During our Banff trip, we had dinner at Masala, and it was a great experience. They offer a separate Jain sabji menu, which was amazing to see. We tried the Jain Chana Masala and Daal. The Chana Masala was served in a makhni-style gravy — a bit different from what we expected, but still tasty. The Daal was especially good — full of flavor. Portion sizes were generous, prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent.

Great lunch buffet and super price. Got a take out buffet for $18.00. It fed my husband and myself easily. Everything was hot and delicious. Such a lovely set up buffet. Staff couldn't have been nicer.

I recently had dinner at Masala Restaurant in Banff, and I can’t stop thinking about it! The food was incredible—every dish was bursting with flavor, and the spices were perfectly balanced. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve. Whether you’re a fan of heat or prefer something milder, there’s something for everyone on the menu.

I was also really impressed with the value for your money. The portions were generous, and the quality of the food was well worth every penny. It's rare to find a place that offers such great food at a reasonable price, especially in Banff!

The service stood out, too. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they made us feel right at home. They took the time to explain the menu and offer great recommendations.

As for the ambiance, it had a cozy, welcoming vibe that made for the perfect dinner setting. It felt like a nice mix of casual and special—perfect for any occasion. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Banff!

I was in town for 3 days and decided on exploring every indian restaurant in banff and ended up at masala on my 2nd day. Ordered chat papdi and it was very dry and bland in taste. Also, ordered panner lababdar instead they gave kadhai paneer. I also, explored zykaa earlier and could recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic indian taste. Zykaa is the best indian restroom in banff. I had high expectations from masala restaurant and the food was below average. However, the service and ambience is good.
