We were on our winter holiday and had such a wonderful experience at Silver Dragon Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — true comfort food away from home that warms both the heart and the soul. The portions were incredibly generous (come hungry!), and everything tasted amazing.
What impressed us even more was the sincerity of the owners. They genuinely cared about our dining experience and thoughtfully advised us not to over-order because the portions were already very substantial.
Even though we arrived late for our reservation and they were near closing time, they still welcomed us with so much politeness and genuine hospitality. We never felt rushed. They went above and beyond by helping us book a taxi back to our hotel, which we really appreciated.
On top of that, they specially took my order via email for longevity buns (which was not in their menu) to celebrate my father’s birthday — such a thoughtful gesture that made the evening even more meaningful.
Highly recommend this place for not just the food, but the warmth, generosity, and heartfelt service. We hope to be back soon!

The dishes are always super tasty and the portions are genuinely generous. The staff are attentive, the views are incredible, and it’s not too far of a walk from Banff Avenue.
Whenever I’m in Banff for the ski season, I always make sure I come here a few times.
The ribs and the spring rolls are a must-try.

We came here three times in our six day stay in Banff and Lake Louise. The food was excellent so we kept coming back. If you’re looking for authentic Chinese food this is the place. Our two Taiwanese mothers approved and wanted to keep coming back. The service was excellent. Since we left we have been thinking about the food here. We even ate at their location in Calgary the day of our flight back home. We will be back next time we are there!

We ate here during our family holiday in Banff. It was a short walk from Banff Avenue/our hotel. Our parents wanted to eat Chinese and some locals suggested this place to us. Service was prompt and staff were helpful. The restaurant is spacious, tables set nicely and there is enough space between tables unlike some places where tables are placed very close to each other. The menu is wide and there’s something for everyone. Please note portions are quite big and we think we ordered a bit too much. Dishes were very tasty! Overall, a really nice place to try in Banff if you wish to eat Oriental food.

While driving back to our hotel in Banff, we passed by Silver Dragon and decided to give it a try as we were really craving some Chinese cuisine — and it turned out to be an excellent decision.
The restaurant is spacious, and comfortable, making it great for both small groups and families. The waitresses were attentive and provided friendly, efficient service, which immediately made us feel welcomed. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and we were pleasantly surprised that they also serve proper hot Chinese tea, just like what you’d find in restaurants in Singapore or Hong Kong — a very nice and authentic touch.
We ordered a mix of dim sum and main dishes. The shrimp dumplings were excellent — the prawns were fresh, crunchy, generously sized, and packed with ingredients. The fried noodles were another highlight; the gravy tasted very authentic, reminiscent of flavours commonly found in Malaysia and Singapore. The stir-fried French beans were well-seasoned, flavourful, and absolutely delicious — simple but done really well.
We also learned that Silver Dragon has been around since 1988 and now operates two branches — one in Calgary Chinatown and another here in Banff, which really explains the consistency and confidence in their cooking.
If you’re in Banff and craving good, authentic Chinese cuisine, this is a place you shouldn’t miss. A comforting and satisfying meal that truly hits the spot.

!!Worst Experience!! My brother and I went there on December 25th. Since there wasn't enough space to park the car, we were trying to park it the best way possible. A guy was looking through the window and watching us figure out the best way to park the car (it took 10 minutes to park), and he was just staring through the window. As soon as we approached the entrance, this waiter was showing a lot of anger and attitude and was making a big deal out of it. We thought we could try a new cuisine there, but because of his attitude, we had to leave. Plus, he was not willing to provide his supervisor's details. Keep out!!
