Tonight was our first night in Banff, and The Bison was our first meal of the trip. We were warmly greeted by Antoine, whose friendly welcome and genuine interest in chatting with us really set the tone for a great evening. From the start, his level of customer service really stood out. Our server, Danni, was also super friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the meal.
It meant a lot to see how much Antoine and the Bison team genuinely cared about our experience. This kind of hospitality truly made our night and gave us an amazing start to our time in Banff!
Too much spices, flavour is over bearing. The duck I ordered is not tender at all, so hard to chew. Be mindful of your choices.
Absolutely amazing service and food!!!! We were celebrating our engagement at Bison and they were amazing. Made us feel so special with our big news! But the best part was the food! The Buffalo mozzarella can go toe to toe with any we’ve had in Italy. But the duck my fiancée got was better than Michelin star restaurants we’ve been to in Toronto! The bison short rib was also unreal, but for anyone going please do not miss the duck. Huge emphasis on local ingredients and it really shows in the food. By far and away the best restaurant in Banff
We were looking for something special to start off our honeymoon. We came across their spring 3 course special which was an excellent meal for the price. The food was all excellent (besides the chocolate dessert- this was very tart).
For a restaurant of this scale - we expected higher level service. We ran out of water as well as were initially told that we could substitute our wine for the wine tasting then were only given one option. We felt rushed. Also - we made sure to put our special occasion in the reservation and this was not mentioned.
A night to remember at The Bison! We chose this restaurant to indulge in the Bison Tomahawk and left thrilled with our decision. The restaurant has a welcoming, casual and upbeat vibe with great visibility into the kitchen. Good wine selection but heavy markup - we purchased the Mission Hill Reserve and were pleased with the quality of this Okanagan Cab. We tried the Prawn Lettuce Cups as a light snack while waiting for our Tomahawk. The chef selection sides on this evening included a light salad, Bok Choy and Sweet Potato. We are not fond of Bok Choy so our server was able to sub in Asparagus which we really appreciated! The Tomahawk was cooked to perfection and we both enjoyed it more than beef. Accompaniments were also delicious as was the sauce. We finished everything and even had room for the Sugar Cream Pie and two Dessert Wines. So glad we took the opportunity for this unique dining experience and highly recommend. MP for our Tomahawk was $210.
The food was delicious. We got the bison rib steak and the double dark chocolate budino. We also got mocktails and they were amazing!
Service was perfect.
We went to the restaurant with the very last reservation. We had $39 menu with some upgrades on the menu. The food is tasty and the server is nice
Phenomenal food, great atmosphere, I think we got the rare experience of middling / poor service. Our server, Paul, seemed very unfriendly and wasn't particularly attentive or interested; I expected above average service from here, not subpar.
The Broccoli salad was very good; the bison short ribs are spectacular.

Hey guys love the Bison but had an unfortunate experience last night. I’m still giving five stars cause I don’t want to affect your score and I hope this feedback helps.
We buy the tomahawk every year and one of our fav things to do is give the bone to our dogs when we get home. We got our stuff packed up last night and we just realized they threw the whole bone out! That seems like a wildly wasteful decision considering there was tons of meat on it. I really think the standard should be you guys ask the guests if they want the bone or not. It was such a bummer when we got home and saw it wasn’t there :(
Thanks for hearing me out! Every other aspect of our meal was perfect.
Went off anniversary dinner.
Food was excellent and very filling.
We had the escargot , duck and the bison short rib
Escargot was so good, very garlicy , but as with most of these styles always end up with more dip than bread haha
Duck was perfectly done. And short rib was melt in your mouth.
Service was extremely polite and were on top of topping up wine and water.

Outstanding service, ambiance, and food! Chris and Geome took great care of us and ensured our glasses were never empty & made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down.
We ordered the beets, burrata and steak to share.. zero complaints for all of the dishes. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We finished the night with the chocolate mousse which was equally amazing.
Thank you for an incredible meal and experience!
We had dinner here for my husband’s birthday and it was incredible! He got the bison tomahawk, it was $199, but very much worth it! Food is top notch, and our server Chris, was absolutely wonderful. Very kind, very attentive, honest and helpful with suggestions!

First time in Banff and first time at The Bison Restaurant. I rarely eat steak or ribs but really wanted to try the bison short rib. So I got that and the beet salad. I knew it was a good sign when the salad at a more meat-focused restaurant was fantastic - best salad I've ever had. From start to finish, the experience was sublime. Excellent service, amazing food (honestly mind-blowing flavors), and well-priced for a fine-dining restaurant. The experience was worth every penny. Highly recommended!

We had the Bison Short Ribs and the Beef Striploin, and both dishes were delicious! We sat at the bar and our bartender/server Chris was very friendly and outgoing. Prices were good especially considering the quality of the food and service.
