This place is pretty cool. You have to appreciate the dark and dinghy atmosphere for what it is. It is a really cool place to take a date for the ambiance and the experience. However, you have to be willing to pay for the experience. The food is cut up and you cook your own meal. The salad was basic, just lettuce and carrots and dressing. There aren’t really any sides, just bread.

The waiters here are racist and very impatient with Chinese people 🙄, rolling their eyes at us, stupid. They should be trained well. The price of wild game is acceptable, but why is the service attitude so high?

My feeble east Asian villager body phenotype could not handle the chad north American diet of grizzly bear and bison meat my intestines were cooked and covered in animal lard and I threw up

It was highly recommended, but it was a disappointment. The food (cheese fondue) was for 1 person instead of 2, dry bread and little vegie. Furtermore the stonegrillng of other customers was too much and my clothes were still smelly after days.

This place came highly recommended and so we made it a priority to try during our visit to Banff. Getting a table was tricky due to its popularity and our first attempt on a Monday night as walk ins was unsuccessful. Tuesday they are closed, and Wednesday we called early in the afternoon to get a table. We were able to secure a reservation for 8:30pm (a bit later than desired but we took what we could get). The fondue dinner was very unique and taste didn’t disappoint. The dessert course (chocolate fondue with fruit) was delicious but only came with enough chocolate for about 1/4 of the fruit. I suspected this was a mistake and somebody in the kitchen measured wrong. When I asked for some more chocolate so that we could enjoy the rest of the fruit, the waiter response was “I can order you some more” and he brought a new pot with more than enough chocolate and I’m guessing this is how the first pot should have been. I’m left wondering if we somehow accidentally got someone else’s left over pot the first time, which is unsettling. However, even more unsettling was that we were charged an extra $4 for the new pot of chocolate to replace the original one that was served already almost empty. When one is spending $175 for dinner for two, being charged that extra $4 for what should have been provided in the first place leaves me with a bitter taste and sours the memory. I’m hoping the restaurant will read this and make some changes to improve the experience for future customers.

Compared to the other dining experiences in Banff, The Grizzly House is over hyped for the food you receive and the price you pay.
The cheese fondue for two was OK, but the cost of $35 for swiss cheese, wine, kirsch and bread cubes seemed extravagant. I would recommend the Bagna Cauda in its place.
I chose chicken and beef for my Fondue Bourguignonne and it was also OK.
Perhaps your experience will be different from mine if you select other dishes. I realized after paying to cook my own food really wasn’t worth the price.

Everyone raved about The Grizzly Steakhouse so we set a reservation. It was our 25th anniversary and wanted something different. We had never ate at a Hot Stone place and it was interesting for sure.

This restaurant offers a unique dining experience with a selection of meats that you can't easily find at other places, which is quite intriguing for the curious foodie. However, securing a reservation here can be a bit of a challenge due to its popularity. While the novelty is worth a try, the overall atmosphere might not encourage frequent visits, partly because the ventilation isn't the best and the cooking fumes can be quite noticeable. On a brighter note, the meal ends on a high with their delightful chocolate fondue served with a variety of fruits—a truly indulgent treat that's hard to resist. It's a place to visit at least once for the unique offerings, especially during your travel.

I ate buffalo, wild boar, and venison for the first time in my life. Regardless of the taste, it was a great experience. Cheese fondue was delicious. The garlic fondue was the most delicious. All the store staff had good customer service and were very nice. But the bill...
The atmosphere of the store is nice, so it might be a good idea to go there on special occasions.

Booked a reservation, showed up on time to be told no reservation. Showed the outgoing call log from days prior. Disappointed in the disorganization. Been coming here for years and didn't expect this outcome.
However we were still given a table and drinks while we wait so overall, bad situation but great fix.

Vibes are great and fondues themselves were very good, but the dipping ingredients could’ve been of higher quality. Also for the meat option, they could’ve provided more meat for $25

I went here 2 years ago with my family after seeing so many Youtubers recommending this restaurant. The reveiw was hugely overrated. It was very smokey because all the meat was being cooked on the table on hot stone but there wasn't enough ventillation. For the price we were paying, the portions were really small and the interval between next course was too long. At the end, we didn't finish the dissert as we all wanted to escape the smokey environment. We ordered pop and received a flat coke in small wine glass. When we wanted a refill because of greasy food, we found out that it was not free and you had to purchase another. Would never recommend this place to other people. We paid nearly 250 CAD including tax and tip for 3 persons and experienced one of the worst culinary experience.

Essentially, it's a fondue place. The cheese fondue is awesome. When you get to the meat part, it's iffy. You get a hot stone and a plate of meat. The first few pieces cook great. The stone cools down and further pieces take a long time to cook Big problem with the place is the prevalent acrid smoke is annoying.

Where do I begin….. this place is a disappointment beyond belief. The stench it leaves on you is disgusting, I smelt like roadkill and had to deep clean my clothes twice. The food portions isn’t enough to feed a toddler and it’s costing you 60$ and up. I wouldn’t feed this to a dog. The lighting is so bad that you have to use your phone flashlight to read the menu, we got seated right beside the bathrooms which smelt like an outhouse on a construction site. Book your whole night off aswell it took 2 1/2 hours to get in and out. The best part about this place is nothing
