As advertised. Paul was exceptional... great service and recs for dinner. We also had some questions about the restaurant and golf club's history and he was extremely knowledgeable. Great meal for the last night of our trip.

We read all the reviews, including the negative ones. We don't have a bad thing to say. We ate at lunch, on a snowy afternoon, sat in the bar along the windows. We delighted in the fondue with extra mixed vegetables, the pretzels with beer cheese, the mixed salad, and the wings - the wings were very special. Maple syrup with some heat in the sauce. And they were cooked to perfection, almost fall off the bone. We had a second order. And the chocolate fondue to finish. Probably the best meal (vying with Pizzeria Sophia) of our trip.

It was the worst NYE party, the food was terrible, terrible service, no cocktails or drinks served as they told us

The entire experience was very fun but we felt the buffet was only sausages and cheeses. Some vegetable plates would have made a big improvement.

We had a reservation for Christmas Eve, as I wanted something with a special atmosphere. Unfortunately we have been very disappointed. It was far away from being cozy and we have been seated at the worst table in the room (close to the clean up and preparing station for the servers, so constant clinking from plates and cutlery). My food (Bratwurst) was really yummy, but my husband had the Schnitzel with Cheese and that wasn´t tasty at all. Service was also not overly friendly. So all in all I had expected something totally different

Perfect location for a dinner with friends during the holidays. Cute German Christmas vibes, and excellent authentic German food. The fondue was fun to split with a group. Hearty plate sizes that are easily shareable.

The Service we received at the Waldhaus for my friend’s birthday was ABOVE AND BEYOND probably any service at any restaurant or venue that I have been to all year! Thank you Sjwane (OK sorry if I misspelled your name🤷🏼‍♀️)
The food was fabulous, we so enjoyed our fondue too, thank you for the birthday candle, and the inventive way of putting that together with the fondue! Thanks for helping us with the parking… You just made it a really special and great time in Banff!
And especially thank you for helping us. Take such great photographs on the patio! This just made for the best day!

The peace soup and black forest cake are scrumptious. Dinner portions are very generous. We will definitely come back

Waldhaus is a German cuisine restaurant of the legendary Banff Springs Hotel. We went there for our breakfast. It looks like a Bavarian style cottage and their most popular dishes are Fondue and Schnitzel. We ordered both of these items.

While the food was good, the server wasn’t focused. I had to left my seat and walk across the hall just to get her attention. I had a much better experience at the Chateau Lake Louise which is also run by Fairmont.

Great food and atmosphere. The dining room was closed so we ate in the pub but they still had a full menu. The schnitzel was great and I love their sauerkraut.

This was my third visit at Waldhaus Pub. I was happy my first two times but disappointed on my last visit. The server DN didn't seem interested in serving us. We sat on the terrasse and I had to go inside twice to ask him to take our order. It was early and the restaurant was not busy. Another couple who arrived after us had another server (Colin) and were served promptly and courteously.
The menu gets a bit repetitive and would benefit from new additions or daily specials to add variety.
The view from the terrasse is amazing.

Waldhaus is one of Banff’s true hidden gems, rich in history, beautifully secluded, and serving some of the best Alpine-inspired food in the Rockies. Originally built as the clubhouse for the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course, the building’s traditional Swiss alpine cottage design still defines its charm.

Set right on the edge of the golf course and surrounded by forest, it feels like a small Bavarian lodge perched above Bow Falls, and it’s also easily accessible directly from the golf course itself. The atmosphere is warm and rustic, and the patio with its fires creates one of the most relaxing dining settings in Banff, perfect for drinks or a slow, scenic meal. The schnitzel is perfectly crisp, the sausages and fondue are must-tries, and the beer selection is outstanding, offering both local craft options and classic German varieties.

Service was exceptional—attentive, warm, and consistently professional throughout.

Parking remains the only real drawback, with the Fairmont’s upper lot costing $45 for just 97 minutes, so street parking is a much better choice when available.

The walk down involves more than 90 stairs and can be difficult for elderly guests, making the Fairmont shuttle the smartest option.

Despite these logistical quirks, the Waldhaus offers superb food, excellent service, and a uniquely historic and atmospheric setting that make it absolutely worth the visit.
