Great dinner experience, featuring live music in a luxurious showroom environment. The food was excellent, and presented well.
My only complaint was that the bar features a number of smoke infussed beverages - as someone with serious asthma, I was disappointed that they do not have proper ventilation to prevent the smoke from entering the dining area. As they cater to a 50+ demographic, there will be many patrons who have breathing issues as a result of the smoke.

I visited Alvin Club Sept 19th with my husband, and the experience was disappointing. From the start, it took over 10 minutes before anyone came to the front to seat us, and we were on the verge of leaving when someone finally showed up. Once seated, there was live music playing, but nobody informed us that we'd be charged extra $20 for it—especially considering how dull the performance was.
To make matters worse, t'was my birthday, and when my husband asked if the restaurant offered anything for such occasions, the waitress told us they don’t—only The Keg restaurant does that. At that point, I realized I had chosen the wrong place to celebrate my day.
When the bill came, we were shocked to see an extra $20 charge for the live music that we were never informed we'd be paying for. I asked the waitress about it, and she simply said it was on the menu. Honestly, who checks a food menu for a live music charge? The whole experience felt like a total scam. Because why was I charged for a live band I didn't request for or told at the entrance before we ate.
Overall, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. What should have been a fun night was ruined by poor service and hidden charges. I doubt we'd be returning here.
N:b It would have made sense to have a huge poster by the entrance to let people know that they're paying for live music. That way customers can decide if they wanted to stay and listen to a boring song or go to The Keg restaurant like she mentioned.
Also the salmon was bleh.
Would be nice to have our $20 refund back.

The live entertainment was very good! And the wine / food pairing was delightful. Thursday's seafood menu is unique.

I love this place - not just for the food but also for the experience in general! The food, wine, and dessert was great - had good seafood choices (especially today since it was Seafood and Soul Night, will be coming back for the salmon wellington) and the desserts were a perfect way to end dinner.
Notwithstanding the food, the live music is so rare to see in Calgary so it was great to listen to while eating and the band even took some song recommendations from us! Would definitely come again :)

Service in this Club is not on high level. We had booking for 9:00 PM and they just let us take our seats at 9:45 PM. And also they took 20$ extra for “Cover”. lol.
Also waitress was nice, but we left cash and she didn’t offer change. That’s my deal to leave tips or not, but you should ask customer about change. So looks like you take my money in passive rude way. 2 stars.
Food was on high level except rice in Half Chicken. 4 stars.
Entertainment was amazing. 5 stars.

Went for a date night out. Food was very good. Lots of flavours and presented well. Service was pretty good. The atmosphere is unique and wonderful if you like the jazz vibe. Server misquoted the cost of a meal item so our bill seemed unexpectedly high but we didn’t let that bring us down. The night was excellent and we’ll come back.

This was totally unexpected. We found a wonderful gem in Calgary. Enjoyed the music. My partner knew all the songs and loved the band. The service and food was fantastic. We got a table at the back which was perfect to watch everyone singing away to the songs.

Calgary's best hidden gem. My wife and I went for their "date night" special that they have, which had been meaning to try for years. We went without any expectations, but it was absolutely wonderful. The food was exceptional, and the portions were ample. The service was also excellent, which is a rarity these days. And to top it off, the cool art-deco ambience of the place (like an old Speakeasy with a modern touch), complete with a 3-piece jazz band. My only complaint is that there's a $10 cover charge per person, which was never verbally mentioned anytime during the evening; well worth it regardless.

Was excited about this place, as expected the atmosphere was nice and so was the service. The food was heavy handed and lacked any subtlety.
The band was ok, the sound was boxy (sounded like a laptop speaker was inside a cardboard box and you were listening to it) couldn't discern any pitch from the female vocalist even though she was quite talented and clearly capable. The bass guitar was quite droney. The piano sounded bland (even though it was a baby grand) not entirely sure what's going on with the acoustics of that room or who set it up perhaps you should hire a consultant though. You're doing a big disservice to every artist who plays there.
If I'm going to pay that amount of money I do expect a certain level of professionalism. On top of that it's a jazz club. It should sound right.
I'd be happy to do some consultation if you wish, it is my specialty. Please feel free to look me up on facebook.
Warm regards,
Nick Papai

We have been here now a total of 3 times. Overall very lovely ambience, however appetizers not up to par. Cold, overly crispy calamari, seafood cakes overly fishy tasting and smelling. Lovely waitress however did not know any of the questions we asked about the menu nor could she figure how to spilt a bill with different forms of payments. For the price, expect higher standards. Overall fantastic music and atmosphere tho! That gets a 10/10!
