“It was a perfect breakfast for the three of us before we dropped out daughter off at the airport. I had my traditional two eggs over easy with toast sausage and bacon. The two others had some wonderful eggs-benny. My eggs were perfect, the toast was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were spicy and succulent, making for a delicious meal. Arlene was wonderful throughout the whole meal so thanks to her especially!”

“My daughter and I dined at 530pm yesterday, May 24th 2025. We chose to sit in the dining room. We were lead to a table by the fireplace under a great chandelier. The ambiance of Joey Crowfoot is lively and warm. Comfortable seating, perfectly sized tables, and excellent lighting. Our server, whose name I can't recall - tall dark and handsome and a theater major - was attentive and friendly. The food we had was absolutely incredible. We chose goyza dumplings to start which were so flavourful and perfectly cooked. My daughter ordered the hamburger and fries and even with her braces bothering her, she demolished. My blackened chicken with warm potato salad was hands down the BEST meal I've had in a restaurant in a long, long time. I will be dreaming of that salad until I can get back there again !!”

The menu offered a great variety, and everyone at the table found something they loved. Portions were generous, and the flavors truly stood out. The service was excellent as well. “This is genuinely crazy.. i was using the subway app to place an order for lunch, i meant to place the order for the tuscany boulevard location, but instead i placed it across the city at this walden gate location closer to home, i forgot to change it🤦🏾‍♂️ tried to cancel the order in app but couldnt find the setting, so i just accepted that i wasted my money, but low and behold, an angel called my phone, calls me about the order, i tell her i placed it at the wrong location, and she offers for me to come later so they can remake the order. I tell her im probably not getting off work until like 5. So in my head im thinking “damn this girl is probably not gonna be working, will the other workers on the clock at 5 do it for me?” So come 5 o clock i remembered this on the way home, called in, and asked the workers currently on if they were able to do it. And guess what, they did! This level level of dedication is insanity, this level of customer service is unheard of.. there was absolutely no obligation for them to do this, in fact greedy corporate leaders would probably say to take my money and save the food resources, but the dedication to customer service from this woman was too high, i want to recommend everyone involved for an immediate promotion. Talbir and khush were the workers that were in at 5 o clock, but as for the girl at lunch who called me to let me know to get my sandwich, i forgot to ask for her name. All I know was that she was working monday aug 10th, 2026 around noon to recieve the order, she needs a promotion badly, this level of dedication to service must not go unrewarded, there needs to be more incentive for stuff like this. “I particularly liked this A&W. No drive thru meant that dining in customers were actually prioritized lol. (novel concept!). The food was hot and prepped fresh even the fries! It wasn't overly crowded and I liked the dining room atmosphere here. I'll be looking for ways to go to this location when I want A&W. Keep up the good work you guys!”

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!”

Watch out for their announcement/s at Instagram and book at TOCK. I got mine in November 2021 for February 2022 dinner. Chef Darren shared that in the latest offering, 36,000 people went in and it sold out in 30 seconds. You will receive an email for dining reservations and included are instructions how to get to Eight. Located at ALT hotel at East Village in Calgary, Alberta. Complimentary underground parking. Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. From east to west ingredients, indulge in what each coast brings through texture, colour and scents. It’s a win after win, one plate, one bowl at a time. 3. PAIRINGS Truly recommended to take it! As serendipity has it, it was Season 8 and Eight’s 2nd anniversary. The last pairing of Espresso, Licor 43 was replaced by a Ruinart Blanc de Blanc to celebrate with Chef Darren and his staff. Lucky! 4. AMBIENCE Low light, one bulb overhead per person highlights the food in front of you. Across is a marbled island where the action happens. It’s a cozy distance to chat with other guests to your side and still well-spaced to enjoy your spot (and your date!) Leather bar seats, metal backing art at the corner adds to the mystery feel of the eluded box. 5. STORY TELLING This is a vital part of the dining experience. Chef Darren walks through the history of ingredients and how he came up with the course. Very interesting, heartwarming and funny stories to hear. 6. SYMPHONY The smooth flow of chef, assistants and server movements : cooking, plating, serving timing, wine glass replacement and bread offering is a flawless operations at an optimum (small) space. It is a feat. 7. CERAMICS The handmade, locally made plate counts. The 24 Karat lined cup and the stacked bowl of snacks counts. It’s beautiful. Hello Quinspired Ceramics ✨ 8. INVESTMENT Worth every Canadian dollar. $245pp dinner + $145pp pairing (optional) + 20% gratuity + taxes Ending note: There is a no photo policy and it suits your dinner experience as you’re fully immersed into the story telling and presentation. You are given a small folder, tucked in is the menu + pairing details. Inside the folder is poignant essay of Chef Darren’s thoughts how the Canadian Reflection Menu came about. Take it as poetry! A map of Canada is inserted and handwritten in each province were ingredients used that night. Overall, this was a great experience. Calgary is lucky to have Eight. Well done! Bravo Chef Darren! Now, best of luck to booking a seat!”

She was very attentive to our visit, making sure that we were served fully. --- The food was good, I can't say anything about the atmosphere, since there was another gent eating, but everything was very clean. --- I used to go there around 10 years ago while I worked near this location... since I was visiting the area, I remembered the food back then and I was not disappointed on trying it again... the food was very good. “i had the rare beef pho, #17and spring rolls, my wife had wonton soup, #3 and salad rolls,#5. We were impressed with all our items. The broth in both soups were excellent. the wonton broth was chicken based. It was clear and maybe one of the best we have tasted. We will be back.”

The chief Ali is so personable right away you feel like your visiting a close friend very likeable fellow ...I can not say enough about this place and the fantastic food for the last while now every time i run in to someone i haven't seen in a while or even if i saw them yesterday when they say whats new the first words out of my mouth are Food Coma do yourself a favor check this place out”

The Lao-Thai dishes are fresh, flavorful, and affordable. As someone with Lao roots, I really appreciated the authentic Lao options on the menu—hard to find and beautifully done.
