“The poke is absolutely delicious! I love that you can pick what goes in it so I could have one that was all veg and protein and no rice. The ingredients are really really fresh too. This is a place you go for delicious food, not for the atmosphere. But if you want to eat in, it’s clean and bright and the staff there are lovely too. definitely adding it to my list of regular faves.Parking: There’s a small parking lot behind the building. A definite plus in busy Marda loop.“
“I absolutely loved the old Sushi Crave so hadn't been back since but I finally tried it today and it was amazing, and possibly better than the original. The service was impeccable and the black dragon roll was fantastic! The atmosphere is very different and works very well with the space (think anime cafe vibe). Also love the love note chest ❤️“
“Tonkotsu was decent, especially for $10, although I was disappointed to only get half an egg, since it’s my favourite part. The broth was flavourful, and the pork was nice. The takoyaki was very good, and the chicken karaage was excellent! For the price it seems like a good value to me. It’s also much nicer inside than outside, AND they have a ramp for accessibility which I thought was very cool. Our food was ready for pickup quickly. Will definitely be ordering again (and dining in once that’s allowed)“
“Gagana Ramen is a franchise from Tokyo and a hidden gem totally worth checking out! ??I've been here once probably 7 years ago and had the Tsukemen dipping ramen. I loved it but I never got a chance to go back again. We decided to check them out recently and I regret not going back sooner!!Featuring:- Tonkotsu Ramen- GyozaThe ramen was so rich in flavor and the chashu pork was super tender (they cook it for 12 hours!). I could tell that they use high quality ingredients to make their broth. The ramen chef trains in Japan to make their special ramen. It takes 17 hours to make a big pot of broth! They also use special egg noodles which have a very bouncy texture.Because it takes a lot of time to make their ramen, they only serve about 20 bowls (or whenever they sell out) at lunch time.I was also very impressed with their gyoza. It was the bounciest gyoza I've ever had and so juicy! I highly recommend getting gyoza with your choice of ramen. They are located inside Mike's Family Billiards, which is quite random. If you don't see the sign for Gagana outside, that means they sold out for the day.The ramen chef told us that he is thinking of retiring in 2 years so make sure you check them out before they close!“
“This is my go to ramen restaurant. Fantastic ramen, the pork melts in your mouth. The Jinya bun is a must try, I get them every time I go, very delicious. The interior looks really good, and the staff is friendly. There's usually a wait to get in, so plan your evening accordingly!“
“We came in here for dinner right before their closing time and they kindly seated us. All the items came were quickly and everything we tried was so good!Prices were reasonable, service was good, place was clean, portiond were good and food was yum.Only thing I would have liked better was if they divided a ramen into 2 bowls, but they give you an extra bowl to divide it yourself. Will definitely return and recommend.Must try - Spicy Miso Ramen and Gyoza“
“Cute little Japanese cafe that serves all kinds of brunch, lunch and dinner foods. They have an ayce brunch on weekends for $22 but you need to make sure to book as they fill up fast! My fav were the curry Katsu and black sesame ice cream. They also have a huge menu with foods ranging from ramen to onigiri to Bento boxes.“
“This was an amazing experience and best tasting Ramen we’ve had in Calgary! The class enabled us to have all that in our own home. Great chef and great guy! Can’t wait for them to have a restaurant ? we’re equipped and excited to replicate on our own“
“My family and I love this place. Ramen is such a staple for us and ever since we lived out in BC and had some of the ramen there, Calgary didn't really have anything like it from there. Until this place. Ever since this place opened its been the best tasting, flavor and friendliness. The owners and staff are prompt as well as the chefs, as they help serve the food as well. The restaurant is very quaint and it's a bit small but that's what makes it unique and joy to be in. It's cozy.Best ramen in the city, in our opinion.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian ramen, with tomatoes, corn and other veggies fixings made in a soy milk based broth.Parking: The location of the parking is kind of annoying. The centre it's in has very few spots. And they get taken up a lot because of the food options here. So parking can be what troubles you here.“
“My first ramen experience and I was not disappointed! The menu and restaurant are small, with only about 6 tables and a few chairs at the bar. Food was delicious and affordable, I would highly recommend stopping by.Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options availableParking: There's only street parking, no parking lot“
“Really good place for teppanyaki style dinner. Our chef was funny and kept us entertained while he was flinging the spatula and knife around. Steak was cooked to my liking. The seasoning and dipping was ok, not I would rave about. The show/cooking did not start unless there are enough people sitting at the table. Really enjoyable and would go back again because it's to have a teppanyaki restaurant in the Northside“
“This has become my goto place in the neighbourhood for ramen. As others have said, it's not the best ramen I've ever had, but it certainly hits the spot when I feel I want soup.Menu has more than just ramen if you're with someone who doesn't want it. Their agadashe tofu and their takoyaki is also decent.Service has been good when I've been there, but I tend to choose off times to visit. Free parking with easy to find spots is also a bonus.Go in with average expectations and I think you will be happy.“
“The place itself is very beautiful and is decorated as a traditional ramen shop. The food is quite good but the ramen was a bit too oily for my taste. I have seen that they serve ramen like that in Calgary however so it could be a regional thing. The gyozas were well made and tasty.“
“A must try Japanese place in Calgary. Our Waitress took care of our allergy needs with utmost care, As I am severely allergic to shrimp. She checked with kitchen staff multiple times and made sure there is no contamination whatsoever. Great attention to detail be it service wise or food. ?“
“Shiki Menya offers a delightful ramen experience. Their ramen and gyoza were scrumptious. The rich flavors and expertly prepared dishes make it clear why eager patrons are willing to queue. Will come back to try the other dishes on their menu. Definitely a must-visit for any food enthusiast in Calgary.“
“One of the few places in town that will do gluten-free ramen for a celiac with meat-based bouillon. Gluten-free noodles are clear, rice-based noodles. While they do accommodate the restriction, many of the ramen toppings are still made with gluten-containing soy sauces, so are removed for celiac individuals. It would be great if they were able to prepare some of the common toppings with gluten-free tamari. Either way, the ramen was great and it was great for my friend with this stringent did restriction to be able to have some. Thanks!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“
“Maria is such a wonderful host, and the staff are very friendly and efficient. It’s far and away the best sushi I’ve ever had, and the presentation of the dishes is simply beautiful. To quote the name of the T.V. show, "You Gotta Eat Here!"“
