“We came to celebrate a birthday and were not disappointed! From the second we sat down, our server Stephanie was kind, attentive, and informative…our chef Alvin was engaging, fun, and entertaining! Both of these staff members made it truly an unforgettable visit…they both went above and beyond, and interacted with our children throughout the entire meal and made it an incredible experience for our entire family. This is definitely more than just a restaurant - it is absolutely an experience and we would recommend 100% (especially for kids - they won’t stop talking about how much fun they had)!“

“My family and I love coming here- it's our fav sushi spot, and the ramen here is undeniably the best in the city.
The sashimi is thick and fresh- they are very generous with the size. They have great deals every day of the week and the servers have always been amazing! Definitely worth checking out 😊“

“I went with my two very young daughters for lunch and we all shared an absolutely delicious bowl of traditional ramen on a slow weekday afternoon. The server was lovely and brought child friendly dishes for the girls. (they also enthusiastically slurped soup noodles and loved the soup too).

Also kudos on a happily accessible restaurant and ladies washroom where things like the mirror and sink and dryer were at a height someone in a wheelchair could actually use(I can't speak for the men's).“

I started with the miso soup and it was the most flavourful iteration of that dish I think I’ve had in Calgary. Perfectly seasoned. I liked that the bowl came with a lid so it stayed hot. 10/10
Next, the seaweed salad. Solid. 8/10
The edamame rolled in at a 6/10. Nothing wrong with it but I like when they use maldon salt instead of table salt. It was acceptably okay.
Then, I ordered three types of tuna nigiri to compare:
1. Tuna- this was buttery and fell apart in my mouth 8/10
2. Red Tuna- had a way more distinct flavour to it. Less buttery, more structure. A little fishy, in a good way. 8.5/10
3. Toro (tuna belly)- less flavourful and very obviously the fattiest part of the fish. I think this was the most expensive but it was my least favourite. 6/10
The only roll I got was the salmon avocado roll and it’s maybe the best salmon sushi I’ve ever had. The salmon tasted so fresh and there was a really generous portion of it. Same with the avocado. This was perfectly dreamy. I’ll come back just for this.

Service was sweet and efficient. The interior was cool and quiet. Even the nigiri I didn’t like as much was due to my palate, not a reflection of the quality of the food here.“

“The staff here are the best and always as accommodating as much as they can. Tonight we arrived 40 minutes before closing and last call for food was at 8:30pm, and even though it was close to closing time, our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. “I almost don’t want to write this review because I’m scared it will become even harder to get a reservation but credit absolutely needs to be given to Zushi Calgary.
Hidden inside Avenida Market in south Calgary, this tiny 4-seat omakase experience feels like stepping into a cozy Tokyo Tsukiji Market. We were lucky enough to book the Omakase experience for 4 adults, and every moment was unforgettable.
If you are looking for a luxury fine dining room with fancy decor and white tablecloths, this is probably not it and that is exactly why we loved it so much. It feels authentic, like sitting inside a hidden fish market sushi spot in Tokyo 築地 where the entire focus is on the chef, the fish, and the experience itself.

The chef carefully prepared and plated each piece of sushi like a work of art. Not only was everything visually stunning, but the umami flavors were absolutely mouthwatering .Every bite felt like a masterpiece. This experience left us so happy and satisfied, and we even ordered extra scallops and salmon because they were just that incredible.

What surprised us even more was how reasonable the pricing was for this intimate omakase experience. Every single plate was thoughtfully crafted, and you can truly feel the passion and care behind the experience.

We left with full stomachs, huge smiles, and immediately booked our next omakase for next month already.“

“I love koji Katsu! They recently opened this year and I love that they’re adding and improving their menu. I definitely recommend their assorted Katsu, it’s a huge portion of their three types of Katsu (tenderloin, shrimp, and cheese) with rice soup and salad. You can easily share this with two people! “Great value. I always order the Salmon Lovers combo for pickup. It comes with rolls, sashimi, nigiri, miso soup and a salad which is the perfect amount of food for one person. The Salmon is always fresh, my only complaint and reason for the 4 stars is that the seaweed in the rolls has always been chewy and gummy which districts from the flavour of the rolls. Would also love to see an option to choose different rolls. Overall, you can't beat the price for what your getting just hope to see an increase in quality on the rolls.“

“I first spotted JunKutsu while driving through the area a while back and made a mental note to check it out the next time we were around. I'm so glad we finally stopped in for dinner!

It’s a cozy spot with fairly limited seating, so we lucked out by arriving at just the right time right before the evening rush picked up. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door.

We started with the Takoyaki, which was served piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor. For our mains, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Don Bowl (Nabe Style) and my partner got the Pork Katsu Curry. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The katsu was perfectly prepared, and the portions were large and incredibly filling.

​The only minor downside is the limited seating, which means you might have to wait if you catch them at peak hours—but the food and service make it entirely worth it. I would love to come back again soon to try the rest of the menu!“

“The best culinary experience you could possibly get for the price. The food was prepared with the upmost attention to detail. We did the Yakitori Omakase (15 course meal with drink pairings). The specially reserved seats in front of the kitchen offer a show, not just the meal. Our server Adam provided an 11/10 service, explaining the intricacies of each dish and how the each drink was tied into the given course. They also offer you the option to purchase 3 ounces of the 45 day beeswax aged A5 Waygu (which we also purchased and highly recommend to take in the full experience).
